Introduction:

Thank you for purchasing our breath-alyzer ACE Neo! It measures alcohol concentration in human breath using an electrochemical sensor and offers reliable breath alcohol test results. It must only be used on basis of the instructions mentioned in this manual.

1. Permanent mouthpiece hook 2. Mouthpiece slot 3. Digital LCD display 4. Power button 5. Battery cover (on the back) ACE Neo Alcoheater Symbolic picture

This way you receive a result as accurately as possible:

a) Wait at least 15 minutes after your last sip of alcohol. Do not eat, drink or smoke during that time.
b) Do not open the casing.

h) Do not conduct tests in loud (sound waves disrupt the sensor), draughty or badly ventilated places.
i) After a test result of 1.00 per mille or higher the sensor needs a resting time. In this case wait at least three minutes before the next test.
j) Do not conduct tests in very cold, very hot or unventilated, smoky ambience.
k) Avoid blowing cigarette smoke into the device!
I) Store the ACE Neo in a way which avoids penetration by dust or liquids.

Notes to the battery law (BattG):

The device for which this operating manual is contains two AAA alkaline batteries (1.5 V) in delivery condition. Those batteries are not made for recharging. Trying to recharge can cause damage to property or persons. Also the use of rechargeable batteries is not possible with this device, because it can cause damage to the device. When the batteries are depleted, they must not be thrown in the household waste. Used batteries may contain harmful substances that can cause damage to the environment or health. Please return batteries / rechargeable batteries to the store or to the buyback centre. The return is free of charge und mandatory by law. Please throw only depleted batteries into the containers and tape over the poles of lithium batteries. For battery exchange only pull off the battery compartment cover and change the depleted batteries for new ones. Mind the polarity: The negatives poles of the batteries are in contact with the springs in the battery trough. Slide the battery compartment cover over the casing until it snaps in. All batteries and rechargeable batteries will be recycled. This way, precious resources like iron, zinc and nickel are gathered. Battery recycling is the easiest lesson in environmental.

Calibration:

To maintain the accuracy of the ACE Neo, we recommend a calibration after 12 months at the latest. The calibration is not mandatory; the accuracy of ACE Neo will decrease steadily without it, though. Send the device with the note 'Alkomat calibration service' to the company address stated on the invoice you received with the device. We recommend sending it as a parcel, so that in cases of loss an inquiry or proof of delivery is possible. Due to changes in the product, the procedures stated can change. This can take place without prior notice or adaptation of the operating manual and is no cause for complaint, return or price reduction. The user is responsible to recognise deviations between the operating manual and the actual handling of the ACE Neo and he has to react accordingly.

Preparation for the test:

  1. Install 2 pieces of AAA batteries (alkaline, 1.5 V) in the battery compartment. Remove the battery compartment cover at the back

of the device carefully and insert the 2 pieces of AAA batteries. Mind the battery polarity in the process (+/-).

  1. Put a mouthpiece on the mouthpiece connection, which is on the side of the device. Make sure it is attached properly. Use a different mouthpiece for each test person. You yourself can always use your personal mouthpiece which is fix integrated in the device.

ACE Technik recommends:

■ Always use a new mouthpiece for each person and each test which is conducted not by yourself (you can use your integrated personal mouthpiece). ACE Technik assumes no liability for any damages which arise when several people use the same mouthpiece for multiple tests.
■ Each other test person than yourself should use the hygienic mouthpieces from the ACE series! During each test the ACE Neo internal and external gets in contact with human secretion (saliva, blood, sweat etc.)!

Use safety gloves when pulling out a mouthpiece which was used by another person than yourself! You can buy appropriate gloves at ACE Technik.

Conducting the measurement:

  1. Press the power button.
  2. The device warms up until you can see the sign "0".
  3. Blow through the mouthpiece into the unit for 4 seconds until the sounds (a "tictac" tone) concludes.
  4. The result is displayed for 10 seconds, afterwards the device automatically turns off.

If you want to test again, press the power button after the back light has turned off.

If you keep press and hold the power switch, you can see "C" and shortly afterwards "A" on the LCD. "C" shows the total number of all done tests. "A" only shows the number of tests with a measurement of more than 0.2 per mille. The counting of "C" and "A" starts again with "0" after a calibration service.

Important: When you have eaten, drunken alcohol or smoked a cigarette, wait at least 20 minutes before starting the measurement. ACE Technik warns: Even if you get a result with the meaning „Safe range“, you should not drive after having consumed alcohol or do any other activities which are badly affected by the consumption of alcohol.

Usage of personal mouthpiece:

If you push the hook aside like shown on the right, you can use your personal mouthpiece.

Flow

The breath sample was not strong enough for measurement. After warming automatically, please blow strong and steady during sampling.

bAt

The battery power is low. Please replace the batteries.

CAL

If you test over 1,000 tests, ACE Neo will display "CAL" sign for 3 seconds when warming up for test. This "CAL" sign will be provided the appropriate time for calibration. Please send the device to ACE Technik for a calibration service.

Out

The device is turning off („Out“ is shown during approx. 5 seconds on the display, then the device switches itself off automatically). OUT also appears if you don't use the device during approx. 30 seconds or if you press continuously the start button for approx. 3 seconds.

P

The device is in passive mode. „P“ appears on the display if you turn on the device and push the start button afterwards again. The passive mode can be used when a person is too drunk to do a test by using a mouthpiece. As soon as „P“ appears on the display, the test person must briefly exhale in the direction where normally the mouthpiece is inserted and at the same time you have to push the start button permanently for a few seconds until you hear a „tictac tone“. Now the device evaluates the test and afterwards you can see either „P“ or „F“ in the display. P = Pass (person is not drunken) F = Fail (person is drunken and must not drive) Default values (not changeable): P < 0,20 per mille and F >= 0,20 per mille
