Frequently Asked Questions - VH 229 AEG

How do I set the thermostat on the AEG VH 229?
Turn the thermostat knob clockwise to increase the target temperature. The heater will automatically cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature. When the room reaches the desired warmth, the heater will switch off until the temperature drops.
What safety features does the VH 229 have?
The VH 229 includes overheat protection that shuts off the heater if internal temperatures exceed safe limits, and a tip-over switch that cuts power if the unit is knocked over. The housing remains cool to the touch during operation.
How do I clean the AEG VH 229 heater?
Unplug the heater and allow it to cool. Use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to remove dust from the air intake and outlet grilles. Do not use water or cleaning agents. Never immerse the heater in water.
Can I use the heater in a bathroom?
The VH 229 is not designed for bathroom use or high-humidity areas unless specifically rated IPX4 or higher. Check the manual for IP rating; typically fan heaters are splash-proof but not waterproof. Always keep the heater away from water sources.
What does the frost protection mode do?
When the thermostat is set to the minimum position (snowflake symbol), the heater will automatically turn on if the room temperature drops below 5°C, preventing pipes from freezing. This mode is useful for unheated rooms during winter.
How energy efficient is the AEG VH 229?
The heater has an energy efficiency class C under EU directive. It features a precise thermostat to avoid overheating, and you can save energy by using the lower fan speed for longer periods. Proper insulation of the room also improves efficiency.
Why does the heater turn off unexpectedly?
This may be due to the overheat protection if the air intake is blocked, or the tip-over switch if the unit is tilted. Check that the heater is on a level surface and that grilles are clear of dust. Also ensure the thermostat is set above room temperature.
Can I paint or modify the heater?
No. Painting or altering the heater may damage internal components and void the warranty. Use only as intended. If the finish is damaged, contact AEG service for replacement parts.
What spare parts are available for the VH 229?
AEG offers spare parts such as the fan motor, thermostat knob, power switch, and heating element through authorized service centers. Consult the manual for part numbers and ordering information.
Is the VH 229 suitable for large rooms?
The heater is designed for rooms up to approximately 25 m² with good insulation. For larger spaces, consider using multiple heaters or a higher-capacity model. The 2000W output is sufficient for smaller to medium rooms.
