Frequently Asked Questions - TY5080 PHILIPS

How often should I replace the filter?
The HEPA and activated carbon filter should be replaced approximately every 12 months depending on usage and air quality. The filter replacement indicator will alert you when it is time.
How do I clean the pre-filter?
The pre-filter can be vacuumed or washed with water. For optimal performance, clean it every 2 weeks. Make sure it is completely dry before reinserting.
Why is my air purifier making noise?
Noise levels vary by fan speed. In sleep mode the purifier operates quietly at around 20 dB. If you hear rattling, check for foreign objects or ensure the filter is properly installed.
How do I reset the filter replacement indicator?
After replacing the filter, press and hold the reset button (usually on the control panel) for 3 seconds until the indicator light turns off. Refer to the manual for exact location.
Can I run the air purifier 24/7?
Yes, the Philips TY5080 is designed for continuous use. It is recommended to keep it running to maintain air quality. The auto mode adjusts fan speed automatically.
What is the coverage area of the TY5080?
The purifier effectively covers rooms up to 49 m² (based on CADR of 320 m³/h). For larger rooms, consider running it on a higher speed.
Does it remove odors and VOCs?
Yes, the activated carbon filter absorbs common household odors, smoke, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The HEPA filter captures particles, but for strong odors replace the carbon filter regularly.
How do I connect the air purifier to the Philips app?
Ensure your phone is on the same Wi-Fi network. Download the Philips Air Matters app, follow in-app pairing instructions, and confirm the connection on the purifier's control panel.
What do the colors on the display mean?
The color ring indicates air quality: Blue (good), Orange (moderate), Red (poor). The digital number shows PM2.5 concentration in µg/m³.
How to store the purifier when not in use?
Clean and dry the filters, wrap the unit in a plastic bag or cloth to protect from dust, and store in a cool, dry place. Remove batteries if any remote control is included.
