How to descale my Severin WK 3646 kettle?

Fill the kettle with a mixture of half water, half white vinegar or use a commercial descaling agent. Bring to a boil, let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly twice with clean water.

The kettle does not turn off automatically, what should I do?

Make sure the lid is properly closed and the water level is sufficient. If the problem persists, contact customer service. Do not use the appliance if it does not turn off.

What is the capacity of the kettle?

The maximum capacity is 1.7 liters. Do not exceed the indicated max level.

Can I use my kettle without the descaling filter?

No, the filter is essential to reduce limescale buildup and protect the appliance. Clean it regularly under running water.

The kettle heats up but the switch does not light up?

The indicator light may be faulty. Check that the base is properly plugged in and the kettle is correctly placed. If nothing lights up, contact customer service.

How to clean the exterior of the kettle?

Use a soft, damp cloth. Never use abrasive cleaners or steel wool. Never immerse the kettle in water.

Can I boil water for tea or coffee?

Yes, that is the main use. Use cold tap water. Never add milk, soup, or other liquids.

Is the warranty valid if I don't have the receipt?

Why is there a loud noise during boiling?

A sizzling or clicking noise is normal, especially during first use. If the noise is very loud, check for limescale deposits.

Where can I find spare parts?

Dear Customer

Before using the appliance, please read the following instructions carefully and keep this manual for future reference. The appliance must only be used by persons familiar with these instructions.

Connection to the mains supply

The appliance should only be connected to an earthed socket installed in accordance with the regulations.

The appliance is equipped with a voltage selector which can be set to different supply voltages. Always ensure that the selector is set to the correct voltage.

This product complies with all binding CE labelling directives.

Important safety instructions

- In order to avoid hazards, and to comply with safety requirements, repairs to this

electrical appliance or its power cord must be carried out by our customer service. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to our customer service department (see appendix).

• Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely.
• To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not immerse the kettle in liquids and do not clean under running water.
• The appliance must be descaled at regular intervals. Clean the water container as necessary with a damp cloth.

- This appliance may be used by children (at least 8 years

of age) and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved.

• Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance. - Children must not be permitted to carry out any cleaning or maintenance work on the appliance unless they are supervised and at least 8 years of age. - The appliance and its power cord must be kept well away from children under 8 at all times. - This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as

• in staff kitchens in shops, offices and other similar working environments,
• in agricultural working environments,
• by customers in hotels, motels etc. and similar accommodation,
• in bed-and-breakfast type environments.
• The exterior surfaces become hot during use and will remain so for some time afterwards.
• Do not leave the water kettle unattended during operation. Use only pure water when filling the container to the desired level, observing the Min. (0.1 l) and Max. (0.5 l) markings. Overfilling the container may cause danger from boiling water being forced out.

- Also beware of the danger of scalding from hot steam being emitted. Therefore, do

not touch any parts of the appliance except the handle during use.

• Caution: During the boiling process and when pouring out hot water, the lid must be kept closed at all times.
• Caution: Any misuse of the appliance can cause severe personal injury.

- The appliance must only be used with water.

- Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children – such materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation.

- Every time the appliance is used, the main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.

- The cups and spoon must be removed from the kettle before use.

• The appliance must be used only on a heat-resistant, level surface.
• Do not operate the appliance below a hanging cupboard or similar object; there is a risk that escaping steam may be trapped underneath.
• Do not allow the appliance or its power

cord to come into contact with open flames or any hot surfaces such as hot-plates.

• Do not let the power cord hang free, and keep the cord well away from hot parts of the housing.
• Always remove the plug from the wall socket,
• in case of any malfunction,
• after use,
• during cleaning.

- No responsibility is accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.

Thermal safety cut-out

The pre-set thermal safety cut-out protects the heating element from overheating should the appliance be erroneously switched on without any water, or if the heating plate is calcified. Once the safety cut-out has switched off the kettle, it must be allowed to cool down sufficiently, or must be descaled before it is switched on again.

Before using for the first time

To clean the kettle, boil and discard the first filling of water.

Boiling water

• Set the voltage selector to the correct voltage.
• Open the water container lid and take out the cups and spoon, if necessary.
• Fill the container with the desired amount of water, observing the Min (0.1 l) and Max (0.5 l) markings inside the container.
• Close the lid.
• Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket and press the On/Off switch; the indicator light comes on.
• The boiling process begins. After reaching the boiling point, the appliance is automatically switched off by the integral steam cut-off device; the indicator light goes out.
• To interrupt the boiling process, set the On/Off switch to its Off position.
• Always remove the plug from the wall socket before pouring hot water.
• To prevent hot steam from being emitted, ensure that the lid remains closed while pouring out the water.
• Do not leave any residual water in the container.

Descaling

• Depending on the water quality in your area, lime deposits may build up on the heating element. It is advisable to remove any such deposits at regular intervals.
• Any warranty claim will be null and void if the appliance malfunctions because of insufficient descaling.
• A mixture of 100 ml of water and 10 ml of vinegar essence is suitable.

- Pour the descaler in.

- Switch the appliance on and let the solution reach boiling point.

- Leave it to take effect for a short period.

- To clean the container after descaling, rinse thoroughly with clean water.

• During descaling, ensure sufficient ventilation and do not inhale any vinegar vapours.
• Do not pour descalers down enamel-coated sinks.

Cleaning and care

- Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely.

• To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not immerse the kettle in liquids and do not clean under running water.
• For cleaning, a slightly damp, lint-free cloth may be used.
• Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions, and do not use hard brushes for cleaning.

Storage

To save space, the cups can be put inside each other and then stored in the water container, together with the spoon.

However, ensure first that the appliance has completely cooled down.

Disposal

Devices marked with this symbol must be disposed of separately from your household waste, as they contain valuable materials

which can be recycled. Proper disposal protects the environment and human health.

Your local authority or retailer can provide information on the matter.

Guarantee

This product is guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase. Under this guarantee the manufacturer undertakes to repair or replace any parts found to be defective, providing the product is returned to one of our authorised service centres. This guarantee is only valid if the appliance has been used in accordance with the instructions, and provided that it has not been modified, repaired or interfered with by any unauthorised person, or damaged through misuse.

This guarantee naturally does not cover

wear and tear, nor breakables such as glass and ceramic items, bulbs etc. This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights, nor any legal rights you may have as a consumer under applicable national legislation governing the purchase of goods.
