PRECAUTIONS

Follow the advice below for safe and appropriate operations.

PLACEMENT

- Do not use the unit in places, which are extremely hot, cold, dusty, or humid.

• Place the unit on a flat and even surface.
• Do not restrict the airflow of the unit by placing it in a place with poor airflow, by covering it with a cloth, or by placing it on a carpet.
• Do not place the apparatus close to a source of heat.
• Use the apparatus only in moderate climates (not in tropical climates).
• Do not expose the apparatus to dripping or splashing.
• Do not place objects filled with liquids such as vases on the apparatus.

SAFETY

• When connecting and disconnecting the AC power cord from the AC mains outlet, pull the plug and not the cord itself.
  Pulling the cord may damage it and may be dangerous.
• The mains plug must remain easily accessible.
• When you are not going to use the unit for a long period of time, disconnect the AC power cord from the AC mains outlet.

AC VOLTAGE

- Before use, check that the rated voltage of your unit matches your local voltage.

CONDENSATION

• When there is condensation inside the unit, it may not function normally.
• Unplug the unit for 1 to 2 hours before turning the power back on, or gradually heat the room up and dry the unit before use.
• Ensure a minimum distance of 5 cm around the apparatus for sufficient ventilation.
• Ensure that the ventilation is not impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items such as newspaper, tablecloths, curtains, etc.

- Pay attention to the environmental aspects of battery disposal.

POWER SUPPLY

Using the AC power cradle

Insert the cradle's AC power cord plug into an AC mains outlet with a 230V AC \~ 50Hz power source and dock the unit into the cradle. The AC power LED indicator lights up indicating that the cradle is supplying the power to the unit.

Using batteries

1. Open the battery compartment door.

2. Insert 3x UM3/ "AA" size batteries (not supplied) with the polarities (+/-) matching the markings in the battery compartment. Reversed batteries may damage the unit.

3. Replace the battery compartment door.

Note: When the AC power cradle is used, the battery power is cut off automatically.

Precautions when using batteries

1. Use only the size and type of batteries specified.
2. Do not mix different types of batteries together (e.g. alkaline, rechargeable or standard (carbon zinc)) or old batteries with fresh ones.
3. Exhausted batteries must be removed to prevent possible battery leakage.
4. Dispose of batteries properly according to environmental regulations.

Memory backup for time and preset stations

During a power failure or while batteries are being replaced, the unit can save the time and preset stations for a maximum time of 60 seconds.

BASIC OPERATION

ON/ Standby mode

After connecting the power supply (refer to POWER SUPPLY), the unit is in standby mode and the clock time is displayed. Press the ⏻/ON button to turn on the unit and press it again to go to standby mode.

Clock and Alarm time setting

1. Press the 📊 button and the hour digits will flash.
2. Press the TUNE/SET +/- button to set the hours.
3. Press the button to confirm the setting and the minute digits will flash.
4. Press the TUNE/SET +/- button to set the minutes.
5. Press the Button again to confirm the clock time setting. You will automatically go into alarm time setting mode. The hour digits will flash.
6. Repeat steps 2 to 4 above to set the alarm time.

Alarm operation

This unit allows you to wake up by buzzer or radio.

1. To adjust the alarm time, follow the steps in "Clock and Alarm time setting".
2. To select the buzzer ( 🔍) or radio ( 🔍) mode, press the ALARM MODE button. The corresponding alarm mode indicator will light up on the LCD display.
3. When the preset alarm time is reached, the alarm will sound in the selected alarm mode.
4. To stop the alarm, press the ⏻/ON button. The alarm will sound again at the same time the next day. To disable the alarm function, press the ALARM MODE button repeatedly until the alarm mode indicators disappear.

Note: While the buzzer alarm volume is fixed and cannot be adjusted, the radio alarm volume can be adjusted to your desired level using the VOL +/- buttons. To select the station, refer to "RADIO OPERATION".

Snooze function

When the alarm sounds, press the SNOOZE button to stop the alarm temporarily. The "SNOOZE" and "AL" indicator will flash and the alarm will sound again after 9 minutes.

To cancel the SNOOZE function and repeat the alarm the next day, press the 🏠/ON button!

Sleep function

This function allows you to programme the unit so that the radio switches off automatically after a certain duration (up to 90 minutes).

1. When the unit is switched on, press the SLEEP button, and "90 zzz" is displayed.
2. Press the SLEEP button repeatedly to select the duration: 90, 80....each time the button is pressed, the duration is reduced by 10 minutes, until the duration reaches 0.
3. When the preset sleep duration elapses, the radio turns off automatically.
4. To cancel the sleep function before the preset sleep duration elapses, press the ⏻/CN button to turn off the radio immediately.

VOLUME control

Press the VOL +/- buttons to adjust the volume level.

MUTE function

Press the MUTE button to shut off the sound. Press it again or use the VOLUME +/- buttons to resume the sound.

Display mode

In standby mode, press the DISPLAY button to display the alarm time for five seconds. The unit will then return to the clock time display.

When the unit is switched on, press the DISPLAY button repeatedly to display the clock or alarm time for five seconds. The display will then indicate the current radio frequency again.

LCD display backlight

Hold down the DISPLAY button to adjust the LCD display brightness level in the following sequence: off, low or high. To save the battery power, it is strongly recommended to set the display brightness to off when the unit is powered by batteries.

RADIO OPERATION

Listen to the radio

1. Press the ⏻/☐ button to turn on the unit.
2. Press the BAND button to select FM or MW.
3. Hold down the TUNE/SET +/- button for 2 seconds to launch automatic tuning for stations (up or down).

Release the button to receive a radio station. For manual fine-tuning, you can press these buttons briefly to adjust the frequency step by step.

FM Stereo

In FM mode, the symbol “BT” is displayed when an FM stereo station is received. You can now enjoy stereo sound.

Achieve optimum reception

In FM mode, extend and position the FM antenna to achieve optimum reception.

In MW mode, orientate the unit to achieve optimum reception.

Preset radio stations

You can store up to 10 stations each for FM and MW.

Automatically store stations

Hold down the MEMO button for 2 seconds, and the unit will automatically search and store the stations it finds.

Manually store stations

1. Use the TUNE/SET +/- buttons to manually search for a desired station.

Then press the MEMO button to memorize the station you have found.

The station number will flash.

1. Press the P+/P- buttons to select the number you would like to allocate to the station.
2. Press the MEMO button again to confirm the setting.
3. Repeat steps 1 to 3 above to store any other desired stations.

Listen to a preset station

When listening to the radio, press the P+/P- button to select a preset radio station.

Care and maintenance

To clean the casing, unplug the unit and wipe off dust and stains with a soft cloth moistened with a mild soap and water solution only. Do not use benzene, thinner or similar chemicals to clean the casing.
