These instructions are for a typical installation. However, if your car has different requirements, make the adjustment accordingly. If you have any question regarding installation kits, consult your local retailer.

Note

  • This system is designed for negative ground (earth) 12V DC operation only.
    • Always install this system in the car dashboard. Other locations can be dangerous as the rear of the system heats up during use.
    • To avoid short-circuit: before you connect, make sure that the ignition is off.
    • Make sure that you connect the yellow and red power supply leads after all other leads are connected.
    • Make sure that all loose leads are insulated with electrical tape.
    • Make sure that the leads do not get caught under screws or iron parts that will move (e.g. seat rail).
    • Make sure that all ground (earth) leads are run to a common ground (earth) point.
  • Use only the supplied mounting hardware for a safe and secure installation.
  • Improper fuses can cause damage or fire. When you need to change the fuse, consult a professional.
  • When you connect other devices to this system, make sure that the rating of the car circuit is higher than the total fuse value of all the connected devices.
  • Never connect speaker wires to the metal body or chassis of the car.
  • Never connect speaker wires with stripes to one another.

- The pin arrangement for the ISO connectors depends on the type of vehicle you drive. Be sure to make proper connections to prevent damage to the unit.

Mount into the dashboard

1 If the car does not have an on-board drive or navigation computer, disconnect the negative terminal of the car battery.

- If you disconnect the car battery in a car that has an on-board drive or navigation computer, the computer may lose its memory. - If the car battery is not disconnected, to avoid short-circuit, ensure that the bare wires do not touch each other.

2 Ensure that car dashboard opening is within these measurements:

3 Remove the mounting sleeve with the supplied disassembly tools.

4 Install the sleeve into the dashboard and bend the tabs outward to fix the sleeve.

7 Reconnect the negative terminal of the car battery.

1 Insert the notch on the front panel to the chassis on the main unit.

2 Press the left end of the front panel inwards until it is securely locked with a "click".

To receive more radio stations or only stations with strong signal, you can adjust the tuner sensitivity.

  • [LOCAL ON] (local on): only stations with strong signal can be broadcast.
  • [LOCAL OFF] (local off): stations with strong and weak signals can be broadcast.

Store radio stations in memory

You can store up to 6 stations in each band.

Store stations automatically

- In Radio mode, press and hold AS until [STORE - - -] is displayed. → The six strongest stations of the selected band are saved in preset channel automatically.

Store stations manually

1 Tune to a station that you want to store.
2 Press a numeric button for 3 seconds. → The station is saved in the selected channel.

Tune to a preset station

- Press a numeric key to select a preset station.

Play with RDS

The RDS (Radio Data System) function operates only in areas with FM stations broadcasting RDS signals. If you tune to an RDS station, the station name are displayed.

Select alternate frequencies

If the radio signal is poor, turn on AF (Alternate Frequency) to search for another station with stronger signal.

Set region for AF tuning

You can define AF tuning region:

Receive traffic announcement

If you do not want to miss traffic announcement when enjoying music, turn on the TA (Traffic Announcement) function.

- [TA ON]: when there is traffic announcement, the unit switches to the tuner mode (regardless of the current mode) and begins to broadcast the traffic conditions. When the traffic announcement is over, it returns to the previous mode. - [TA OFF] traffic announcement does not cut in.

- If the current received TA signal remains weak for over 120 seconds, the unit will activate TA Seek mode automatically. The TA Seek will seek for other station with good condition of TA signal.

- When a traffic announcement cuts in, user can press to terminate the traffic announcement, and the unit will resume to previous playback mode.

Set RDS clock

You can use time signal that is broadcast together with the RDS signal to set the clock of the unit automatically.

3 Rotate to select a setting:

- [CT ON]: Turn on the RDS clock. Time shown on the unit synchronizes with that on the RDS station. - [CT OFF]: Turn off the RDS clock.

- The accuracy of the transmitted time depends on the RDS station that transmits the time signal.

6 Play from hard media

You can use this system to listen to audios that are stored on a compatible disc or USB storage device.

  • You cannot play a CD encoded with copyright protection technologies.
  • Ensure that the disc contains playable content.

Insert a CD with the printed side facing up. → Play starts automatically.

• To pause CD play, press»6.
• To resume CD play, press▶116 again.
- To skip to the previous/next track, press ◀◀ or ▶▶.
- To search backward/forward rapidly within the current track, press and hold ◀◀ or ▶▶.
• To eject the CD, press▲ on the front panel.

SHUF 4Press repeatedly to select a play mode:[SHUF FLD]: start random play for all tracks in the current folder.[SHUF ALL]: start random play for all tracks.[SHUF OFF]: cancel shuffle play.

Switch tracks

During play, you can switch tracks or folders quickly.

Switch tracks directly

1 Press 1to access the track list.
→ The file name of current track scrolls.
2 Rotate Go toggle through tracks.
3 Press to play the selected track.

Switch folders for a track

1 Press to access the folder list.
→ The name of current folder scrolls.
2 Rotate to toggle through folders.
3 Press to select the folder.
→ The system starts playing the first track under the folder.

7 Listen to an external player

You can use the system to amplify the audio input from an external player, for example, MP3 player.

AUDIO IN Ω

1 Press repeatedly to switch the source to [AUDIO IN].

2 Connect an audio input cable with a 3.5 mm connector on both ends between

- the AUDIO IN socket on the front panel, and - the audio output socket (usually the headphone socket) on the external player.

3 Play audio on the external player.

8 Charge your USB device

You can charge your USB device, for example, smart phone, with this product.

Note

- The output voltage through the USB socket is 5 V with output current 1.0 A.

Connect your USB device to this product with USB cable. Once the USB device is connected and recognized, it begins to charge automatically.

9 Adjust sound

The following operations are applicable to all supported media.

10 Adjust system settings

1 Press to access system settings.
2 Press ↗ or ▼peatedly until one of the following settings scrolls.

• [BEEP TONE], [DIMMER] [DEMO] [BLACK OUT], or [DANCE]

3 Rotate to change the setting.

[BEEP TONE][BEEP ON] Enable the beep sound of buttons.
[BEEP OFF] Disable the beep sound of buttons.
[DIMMER][DIMMER HIGH]Increase the brightness level of the screen.
[DIMMER LOW]Decrease the brightness level of the screen.
[DEMO][DEMO ON] Demonstrate all features after the system stays inactive for 2 minutes.
[DEMO OFF] Disable the demo mode.
[BLACK OUT][BKO 10 S] Turn off the screen automatically 10 seconds after last operation.
[BKO 20 S] Turn off the screen automatically 20 seconds after last operation.
[BKO OFF] Never turn off the screen.
[DANCE][DANCE ON]Enable the spectrum on the LCD display.
[DANCE OFF]Disable the spectrum on the LCD display.

11 Others

Reset

You can reset the unit to its default setting.

1 Detach the front panel.
2 Press the reset button by using a ball-point pen or a similar tool.

→ Preset adjustments such as preset channels and sound adjustments are erased.

Replace fuse

If there is no power, check the fuse and replace if it is damaged.

1 Check the electric connection.
2 Remove the damaged fuse from the rear panel.
3 Insert a new fuse with the same specification (15 A).

Warning

• Never remove the casing of this product.

To keep the warranty valid, never try to repair the product yourself.

If you encounter problems when using this device, check the following points before requesting service. If the problem remains unsolved, go to the Philips Web page (www.philips.com/support). When you contact the Consumer Care, make sure that the product is nearby and the model number and serial number are available.

No power or no sound.

  • Car engine is not on. Turn the car engine on.
  • Cable is not correctly connected. Check connections.
  • Fuse is burnt. Replace fuse.
    • Volume is too low. Adjust volume.
  • If the above solutions cannot help, press RESET button.
  • Ensure that the track played is of a compatible format.

Noise in broadcasts.

  • Signals are too weak. Select other stations with stronger signals.
  • Check the connection of the car antenna.
  • Change broadcast from Stereo to mono.

Cannot play disc

  • Ensure that the disc label is inserted with the printed side facing up.
  • Wipe the disc with fibre cleaning cloth from the centre to the edge in a straight line.
  • This disc may be defective. Play another disc.
  • Ensure that the CD is a finalised CD/CD-R/CD-RW.
  • Ensure that the CD is not encoded with copyright protection technologies.

The CD skips tracks

  • Ensure that the CD is not damaged or dirty.
  • Ensure that random mode is deactivated.

Disc cannot be ejected

- Press and hold

Preset stations lost.

- Battery cable is not correctly connected. Connect the battery cable to the terminal that is always live.

Display show ERR-12

- USB data error. Check the USB device.
