Frequently Asked Questions - TE-OS 2520 E EINHELL

How do I change the abrasive disc on the TE-OS 2520 E sander?

The pad is equipped with a self-adhesive (Velcro) system. Simply peel off the old abrasive and apply the new one by pressing evenly.

The sander vibrates a lot: is this normal?

Some vibration is normal for an orbital sander. If it becomes excessive, check that the pad is securely attached and that the adhesive is centered correctly. Wear anti-vibration gloves.

How do I adjust the speed of the sander?

The TE-OS 2520 E is equipped with an electronic speed control. Turn the dial on top of the body to adjust the speed from 6,000 to 12,000 rpm depending on the material.

The dust bag does not fill up: what should I do?

Check that the bag is properly clipped and that the extraction holes are not clogged. You can also connect a vacuum cleaner to the rear port for better suction.

What size of abrasives are compatible?

Use 150 mm diameter self-adhesive abrasive sheets. The Velcro system allows quick changes.

Can I use the sander on metal?

Yes, with an abrasive suitable for metal (fine to medium grit). Make sure to use dust extraction and wear safety glasses.

How do I clean the sander after use?

Unplug the device, then blow out the ventilation slots with compressed air. Clean the body with a damp cloth, without solvents. Empty and wash the dust bag.

Does the sander heat up normally?

Slight heating is normal during prolonged use. If it gets too hot, reduce the speed or take breaks. Check that the ventilation slots are not blocked.

What type of oil should I use for maintenance?

The bearings are lubricated for life and do not require oiling. Never apply oil or lubricant to the motor or pad.

Where can I find spare parts for the TE-OS 2520 E?

Spare parts (pad, bag, switch) are available from the Einhell after-sales service or on their website. The model is designed to be repairable.

• Open the packaging and take out the equipment with care.

3. Proper use

The machine is designed for the grinding/sanding of wood, metal, plastic and similar materials using the appropriate grinding/sanding paper. The equipment is not suitable for wet grinding/sanding.

The equipment is to be used only for its prescribed purpose. Any other use is deemed to be a case of misuse. The user / operator and not the manufacturer will be liable for any damage or injuries of any kind caused as a result of this.

Please note that our equipment has not been designed for use in commercial, trade or industrial applications. Our warranty will be voided if the machine is used in commercial, trade or industrial businesses or for equivalent purposes.

3. Health damage caused by hand-arm vibrations if the equipment is used over a prolonged period or is not properly guided and maintained.

5. Before starting the equipment

Before you connect the equipment to the mains supply make sure that the data on the rating plate are identical to the mains data.

Always pull the power plug before making adjustments to the equipment.

5.1 Fitting the dust collection box (Fig. 2)

The dust collection box (6) must be pushed onto the connector for the dust collection box (5). Push the dust collection box (6) onto the equipment until you hear it click clearly. To remove the dust collection box (6), press the locking knob (7) and pull the dust collection box to the rear and off.

The dust is extracted directly through the abrasive paper and the grinding/sanding disk into the dust bag.

Important!

For health safety reasons it is imperative that you use the dust collection box.

5.2 Fastening the grinding/sanding paper with the Velcro fastening system (Fig. 3-6)

Only use grinding/sanding paper with the corresponding dimensions and matching perforations!

• Lift the clamping lever (8) on the front of the orbital grinder/sander.
• Insert the grinding/sanding paper into the open clamp and close the lever.
• Lay the grinding/sanding paper over the oscillating plate (1) so that the paper is taut and clamp it again at the back of the orbital grinder with the second clamping lever (8).
  • Make sure that the perforations in the sanding/grinding paper coincide with the oscilla-

ting plate.

5.3 Fastening the sanding/grinding paper with the Velcro fastening system (Fig. 7)

• Only use sanding/grinding paper with the corresponding dimensions and matching perforations.
• Place the sanding/grinding paper onto the oscillating plate (7) as shown in Figure 1. Make sure that the perforations in the sanding/grinding paper coincide with the oscillating plate.

6. Operation

6.1 Switching the equipment ON/OFF (Fig. 8) To switch on:

Push the ON/OFF switch (4) forwards.

To switch off :

Push back the ON/OFF switch (4) into its starting position.

6.2 Speed control (Fig. 9/Item 3)

To pre-select the speed turn the knurled screw (3) on the switch.

Plus direction: Higher speed Minus direction: Lower spee

6.3 Working with the orbital grinder

• Place the whole surface area of the oscillating plate on the material.
• Switch on the machine and move it with gentle pressure over the workpiece completely circular movements or moving it to and fro and up and down.
• Use a coarse paper for coarse sanding and a finer paper for finish sanding. You can find the best paper for the job by means of testing.

Important.

The dust generated when working with the machine may be harmful.

• Always wear goggles and a dust mask when carrying out sanding/grinding work.
- Everybody who uses the machine or enters the workplace must wear a dust mask.
• Do not eat, drink or smoke at the workplace.
- Do not use the machine on paints which contain lead.

7. Replacing the power cable

If the power cable for this equipment is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its after-sales service or similarly trained personnel to avoid danger.

8. Cleaning, maintenance and ordering of spare parts

Always pull out the mains power plug before starting any cleaning work.

8.1 Cleaning

• Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible. Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it with compressed air at low pressure.
  • We recommend that you clean the device immediately each time you have finished using it.
• Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these could attack the plastic parts of the equipment. Ensure that no water can seep into the device. The ingress of water into an electric tool increases the risk of an electric shock.

8.2 Carbon brushes

In case of excessive sparking, have the carbon brushes checked only by a qualified electrician. Important! The carbon brushes should not be replaced by anyone but a qualified electrician.

8.3 Maintenance

There are no parts inside the equipment which require additional maintenance.

9. Disposal and recycling

The equipment is supplied in packaging to prevent it from being damaged in transit. The raw materials in this packaging can be reused or recycled. The equipment and its accessories are made of various types of material, such as metal and plastic. Never place defective equipment in your household refuse. The equipment should be taken to a suitable collection center for proper disposal. If you do not know the whereabouts of such a collection point, you should ask in your local council offices.

10. Storage

Store the equipment and accessories out of children's reach in a dark and dry place at above freezing temperature. The ideal storage temperature is between 5 and 30^ . Store the electric tool in its original packaging.
