INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Using the appliance for the first time

Check that the voltage of the domestic network is the same as that indicated on the technical information plate of the appliance. Place the appliance on a stable surface.

Before using the appliance for the first time wash the tank. Fill it up with fresh cool water and insert it in its housing (Fig. 4). Insert the plug into the socket, which must be earthed.

Starting the first time

After having filled the tank with cool tap water, start the machine by pressing the button (P). Indicator lamps (S) turn on to indicate that the machine is on and that the internal boiler has started to heat up. The machine will be ready for the coffee when the indicator lamp (R) turns on.

ARIETE Cialdissima MP50 - Starting the first time - 1

Warning!

Remove at least one cup of water from the boiler hydraulic circuit whenever the appliance is turned on the first time or after it has not been used for a period of time by pressing the dispensing button (Q) until water starts coming out of the coffee dispenser (Fig. 7). Do this only after making sure there is no pods inside the pods holder (L).

ARIETE Cialdissima MP50 - Warning! - 1

Warning!

Do not press the dispensing button with the pod holder cover raised. Danger of burns!

HOW TO MAKE COFFEE

Using the lever (F), lift the pod holder cover and insert the pod in the direction shown (Fig. 5). Close the cover again by pressing the lever (F) until you hear it click (Fig. 6).

ARIETE Cialdissima MP50 - HOW TO MAKE COFFEE - 1

Warning!

Put only pods inside the pod holder. Do not put any powder substance inside.

Check that the steam function button (N) has not been unintentionally pressed.

To be sure the first cup of coffee is hot, it is best to leave the pod holder cover closed for a few minutes before putting the pod inside. This will not be necessary for the cups of coffee that follow. Wait until the lamp (R) turns on before dispensing the coffee. To savour the coffee at its maximum deliciousness, pre-brew it by pressing the dispensing button (Q) for two or three seconds, then release it. The blend in the pod will become damp, taking on greater body. Press the button (Q) again after a few seconds to start dispensing the coffee Fig. 8. Press the button (Q) to stop it. The coffee will thus be even tastier and more aromatic. The maximum dose for one cup of espresso is 50 ml.

ARIETE Cialdissima MP50 - Check that the steam function button (N) has not been unintentionally pressed. - 1

Warning!

Do not open the pods holder cover while coffee is being dispensed; danger of burns!

After the coffee is made, gradually open the pod holder cover by lifting the lever (F). Pay attention that water residue in the pod holder does not squirt on you. A special snap release device lets you empty the used pod into the pods drawer (J) Fig. 9. If the machine stays on for a long time, the lamp (R) will turn on and off periodically. This shows that the boiler thermostat is tripping, which serves to keep the water temperature optimum. It is a good idea to start dispensing the coffee only when this indicator lamp is off, and this is true for both the first cup and those that follow.

Filling the water tank during use

No special operation is necessary when the water in the tank runs out as the machine is equipped with a special self-priming device. Just unplug the machine, pull out the tank and fill it with fresh cool water again up to the "MAX" level.

HOW TO MAKE CAPPUCCINO

To prepare a cappuccino or hot chocolate or to heat any other beverage, press the switch (N); the indicator lamp (O) will turn on to show that the steam function has been turned on. When the lamp (R) turns on, the machine is ready to generate steam.

If small puffs of steam come out of the coffee dispensing spout while you are waiting for the steam, this phenomenon is to be considered absolutely normal.

Turn the steam dispensing cock (C), having the foresight to position a cup undemeath the Maxi Cappuccino device (H) Fig. 10: at first a little water will come out, immediately followed by a strong jet of steam.

Close the steam cock (C) and put the pot of milk to be whipped underneath the Maxi Cappuccino device. Plunge the stylus all the way into the pot of milk (Fig. 11) and again turn the dispensing cock (C) until you get the result you want. During these operations you may notice that the warning light (R) goes on and off from time to time, indicating that the boiler thermostat is keeping the water required for the steam supply at the right temperature.

It is opportune you start dispensing the steam only when this indicator lamp is on. Dispense the steam for a few seconds after every use in order to free the hole of any milk residue.

After the cappuccino is prepared, press the switch (N) to cut out the steam function.

MAKING FURTHER CUPS OF COFFEE

ARIETE Cialdissima MP50 - MAKING FURTHER CUPS OF COFFEE - 1

Warning!

Steam is still inside the boiler! Even if you have turned off the steam function, do not turn the cock (C): There is a danger of burns causes by squirts of hot water and steam that might come out of the cappuccino maker.

To prepare a cup of coffee right after making cappuccino, it is necessary to bring the boiler back to the coffee preparation temperature by performing these operations: press the steam function switch (N). You may notice that the indicator lamp (R) is on. This luminous indication serves to tell you that the temperature in the boiler is still high, i.e. it is still that for steam; you must therefore wait a few seconds until the lamp (R) turns off. Wait until the lamp (R) turns back on before dispensing the coffee.

To speed up the boiler cooling process, all you have to do is put a cup underneath the dispensing spout (G) and press the button (Q) to make hot water come out of the spout, thus lowering the boiler temperature.

ARIETE Cialdissima MP50 - Warning! - 1

Little puffs of steam may come out of the closed pod holder while dispensing. This phenomenon is to be considered absolutely normal.

HOW TO MAKE TEA OR TISANES

When the machine is in the coffee-ready position, i.e. with the lamp (R) on, place a cup underneath the spout (H) and press the coffee dispensing switch (Q). Open the steam dispensing cock (C) immediately afterwards; in this way hot water will come out of the spout. The maximum quantity for two cups is 200 ml.

Unscrew the device (H) from the small pipe and wash it with running water. The small pipe can be cleaned with a non-abrasive cloth. Screw the cappuccino maker back on as far as it will go. If necessary, clean the small steam outlet hole again with a pin. When the machine is turned back on, dispense the steam for a few seconds to clear the hole of any residue or impurities.

Cleaning the tank

Periodically clean the inside of the tank (D). Wash it directly underneath the tap and drying it with a sponge or damp cloth.

Cleaning the drip tray

Remember to empty the used pods and water residue out of the drawer (J) periodically (Fig. 16-17)

Remove the drawer with the drip tray (J) from the machine. Lift the divider (K) so it is easier to empty the used pods (Fig. 17).

Empty the used pods and any water residue out of the drawer (J). The drawer (J) can hold up to 12 used pods (Fig. 15).

Wash the drawer (J) under running water and empty it (Fig. 18).

Remove the cup grill (I) from the drawer and wash it under running water (Fig. 19). Dry the drawer and put it back in the machine, complete with grill, making sure it shuts completely (Fig. 21).

Cleaning the seat of the drawer with drip tray

Clean the seat of the drawer with drip tray. Use a sponge or damp cloth for removing any coffee residue that may have settled in (Fig. 20).

DECALCIFICATION

Good maintenance and regular cleaning preserve and keep the machine efficient for a longer amount of time, considerably limiting the risks of lime deposits forming inside the appliance. However, should your coffee machine fail to work properly as a result of the frequent use of hard, high calcium content water, you may perform a decalcification procedure to restore its operational efficiency. For this purpose you must use only the Ariete citric acid-based decalcifying products (NOCAL). This product is easily found at the Ariete technical service centres. Ariete does not assume any responsibility whatsoever for damage to components inside the coffee machine caused by the use of non-compliant products containing chemical additives. Should you need to decalcify your appliance, please follow the instructions which come with the decalcifying product.

ARIETE Cialdissima MP50 - DECALCIFICATION - 1

Warning!

Do not use vinegar. It could damage the appliance.

ARIETE Cialdissima MP50 - Warning! - 1

Any damages due to failure to clean the machine periodically are not covered by the warranty.

Decalcification is to be performed periodically, its frequency is based on the hardness of the water as shown in the table, or in any case every time you notice the appliance has abnormal difficulty in dispensing coffee.

water hardness decalcify after
(fH) French degrees(dH) German degrees(no. cups of coffee)
36 20 300
18 10 600
0 0 1200

To perform the decalcification procedure, follow these instructions:

  • Turn off the machine and unplug it from the socket-outlet.
  • Pour the content of the packet into a litre of water, making sure the powder completely dissolves.
  • Remove the tank from the machine, pour the prepared solution into it and put it back in its seat.
  • Place a container with a capacity of at least half a litre under the coffee spout and Maxi Cappuccino device.
  • Turn on the machine and when the lamp (R) turns on, press the dispensing button (Q) to dispense about half of the tank's content. Stop dispensing by pressing the button (Q).
  • Now wait about 15 minutes, with the machine still on, then turn the steam cock counter-clockwise and press the dispensing button (Q). The solution remaining in the tank will come out from the cappuccino maker and spout at the same time, cleaning them of any lime residue. Once the solution in the tank has been removed, close the steam cock by turning the cock clockwise and press the dispensing button again.
  • Turn off the machine and unplug it from the socket-outlet.
  • Take the tank out of the machine, rinse it thoroughly, pour a litre of cool tap water into it and put it back in place on the machine. Turn on the machine and proceed with the final cleaning.
  • Place a container with a capacity of at least half a litre under the coffee spout.
  • Turn the machine back on and press the dispensing button (Q) to dispense about half of the tank's content.
  • Wait about 15 minutes, then dispense the remaining content of the tank.
  • Now the appliance is once again ready for use.

PUTTING OUT OF SERVICE

If you want to put the machine out of service, you must disconnect it electrically, empty the water tank and drip tray and clean it (see the paragraph on “Cleaning the appliance”).

In the case of scrapping, you must separate the various materials used in making the machine and dispose of them based on their composition and on the legal provisions in force in the country of use.
