Frequently Asked Questions - SW02 G-TECHNOLOGY

How do I connect the G-Technology SW02 to my computer?
Simply plug the included USB cable into the drive and your computer's USB port. The drive is plug-and-play and should appear on your desktop or file manager.
Is the SW02 compatible with both Windows and Mac?
Yes, it is pre-formatted in exFAT for compatibility with Windows and macOS. No additional software is required.
Can I use the SW02 for Time Machine backups on macOS?
Absolutely. Connect the drive, open Time Machine preferences, and select the SW02 as your backup disk. The drive can be formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) if needed.
What should I do if my computer does not recognize the drive?
First, try a different USB port or cable. Ensure the drive is receiving power (LED should be lit). If still not recognized, check Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (Mac) to see if it appears there.
How do I safely eject the SW02?
Always eject the drive before disconnecting to prevent data loss. On Windows, right-click the drive in File Explorer and select 'Eject'. On Mac, drag the drive icon to the Trash or click the eject button.

The SW02 is designed with a shock-resistant casing to protect against drops, but it is not waterproof. Avoid exposure to liquids.

How do I format the SW02 to a different file system?
Use Disk Utility (Mac) or Disk Management (Windows). Note that formatting erases all data, so backup first. Common formats are exFAT (cross-platform), NTFS (Windows only), and APFS/Mac OS Extended (Mac only).
What is the warranty period for the SW02?
The G-Technology SW02 comes with a 1-year limited warranty. For warranty claims, contact G-Technology support with proof of purchase.
