How to prepare a coffee with the Nespresso VertuoLine?

Fill the water tank with fresh water, turn on the machine (fixed button lit), insert a Nespresso VertuoLine capsule (dome facing down), close and lock the handle by turning it to the left, then press the button. The machine reads the barcode and adjusts the settings. To stop before the end, press the button again.

What to do if the machine button does not light up?

Check that the machine is plugged in and the power outlet works. If it turned off automatically (energy saving after 9 minutes), press the button to turn it on again. If nothing happens, check the fuse or contact the Nespresso Club.

Why is the coffee not hot enough?

Preheat your cup with hot water. If the problem persists, descaling may be necessary. Accumulated limescale reduces water temperature. Follow the descaling procedure with the Nespresso kit.

How to descale the Nespresso VertuoLine machine?

Use only the Nespresso descaling kit. Fill the tank with the solution and 0.5 L of water. Open the head, eject the capsule, then hold the button for 7 seconds to enter descaling mode. Follow the instructions: lock then unlock the handle, hold again for 7 seconds, lock and press the button. The machine stops automatically. Then rinse the tank and run a rinse cycle.

How to clean the machine?

Start the automatic cleaning cycle: empty the capsule compartment, place a container of at least 0.4 L under the outlet, then press the button 3 times within 2 seconds. The cycle lasts 5 minutes. You can stop it at any time by pressing the button. Clean the coffee outlet regularly with a damp cloth.

What does a rapid flashing (twice per second) of the button mean?

Rapid flashing indicates that the machine is in cleaning mode. If you did not request this mode, press the button to stop it. If the machine remains in this state, check that no capsule is stuck and that the lever is properly locked.

How to program the water volume for a personalized cup?

Open the head, insert a capsule of the type you wish to program (Coffee or Espresso), close and lock. Hold the button until the desired volume is reached, then release. This volume is now memorized for this type of capsule. To return to factory settings, perform a reset (5 presses in 3 seconds).

What to do in case of water or coffee leakage?

Check that the water tank is correctly positioned and that the capsule is properly inserted (not damaged). Make sure the handle is locked. If the leak persists, contact the Nespresso Club.

How to reset to factory settings?

Open the head to eject the capsule, close the head but leave the handle in the unlocked position. Press the button 5 times within 3 seconds. The light will flash slowly 5 times to confirm the reset.

Where can I buy Nespresso VertuoLine capsules?

Nespresso VertuoLine capsules are exclusively available from the Nespresso Club (website, phone) or from authorized Nespresso representatives. OriginalLine capsules are not compatible.

- A damaged appliance can cause electric shocks, burns and fire.

• Water could flow around a capsule when not perforated by the blades and damage the appliance.
- Be careful not to injure yourself on sharp points or trap your fingers when reaching inside the machine.
- Beware of hot liquids when reaching inside the machine.
- Never use a damaged or deformed capsule.
• Always fill the water tank with fresh, cold, drinking water.
- Do not overfill water tank.

- Replace water in water tank when the appliance is not operated during a weekend or a similar period of time.
- Do not use the appliance without a cup placed

at the suitable cup support level and ensure the cup support is in place after any usage, to avoid spilling any liquid on surrounding surfaces.

• Do not use any strong cleaning agent or solvent cleaner.
• Use a damp cloth and mild cleaning agent to clean the surface of the appliance.
• Do not use a steam or pressure cleaner to clean the appliance. This will damage the appliance and may create a life-threatening hazard.

• The appliance is provided with an attached cord having a length less than 4 1/2 feet (1.4 meters).
- Use the power cord supplied with the device in an unmodified form. It is important for user safety that the appliance is only used with a suitably grounded electrical supply.

Descaling

- Nespresso descaling agent, when used correctly, helps to ensure the proper functioning of your machine over its lifetime and that your coffee experience is as perfect as on the first day. For instructions on how to descale, consult the section "Descaling" in this user manual.

1. No light on the button.	→ The machine has turned "OFF" automatically; push the button or "UNLOCK" the machine.→ Check the outlet, plug, voltage, and fuse.
2. No coffee, no water.	→ Check that the water tank is filled.→ Check that a fresh capsule is inserted in correct position, that the lever is properly locked and push the button to start.→ Descalc if necessary.→ Open the machine head and let the capsule be ejected. Then perform a cleaning as per cleaning section.
3. Coffee is not hot enough.	→ Preheat cup with hot water from the tap.→ Descalc if necessary.
4. The machine doesn't start and has light steady on.If blinking, see next points.	→ Check that lever is properly locked.→ If you want to brew a Coffee or Espresso, check that a fresh capsule is inserted in correct position, that the lever is properly locked and push the button to start.→ If you are cleaning, descaling or emptying the system, check that no capsule is inserted then close, lock the machine and push the button to start one of these operations.
5. The machine doesn't start and light blinks alternately; 1 blink and 1 pause.	→ Fill the water tank and push button to start.→ Check that lever is properly locked.
6. Light blinks while machine is running.	→ If coffee is flowing normally, this indicates the machine is working properly.→ If only water is flowing, the machine is executing a user request for either cleaning, descaling or emptying the system. Refer to the corresponding paragraph in this user manual.→ If there is no intention to clean, descale, or empty the system, then push the button to stop the machine. If the machine is still blinking, exit descaling mode by holding the button for at least 7 seconds or refer to next section.→ If problem persists, call the Nespresso Club.
7. Light blinks and machine is not running.	→ It will take some time before the coffee flow comes out (due to barcode reading and pre-wetting the coffee).→ Check that a fresh capsule is inserted in correct position, that the lever is properly locked and push the button to start.→ Fill the water tank and push button to start.→ Turn the machine to "OFF mode" by pushing the button for 3 seconds and then push it again to turn the machine "ON". Now wait approximately 20 minutes to allow the machine to cool down after extensive use.→ If the machine doesn't turn "OFF" then exit descaling mode by pushing the button for at least 7 seconds.
8. Light blinks alternately 2 blinks and 1 pause continuously. Machine is not running.	→ During regular Coffee/ Espresso preparation: 1) Unlock the lever and open the machine head to check that a fresh undamaged capsule is inserted in the correct position;2) Check that the lever is in "LOCKED" position 3) Check that the water tank is filled.→ During Descaling, Emptying and Cleaning: 1) Check that capsule is ejected 2) Check that the lever is in "LOCKED" position.→ During Programming Volume: 1) Check if a capsule has been well inserted 2) Please refer to the corresponding chapter.	→ If problem persists:1. 9. Leakage or unusual coffee flow.	→ Check that the water tank is well positioned.
10. Machine turns to "OFF" mode.	→ To save energy the machine will turn off after 9 minutes of non-use.→ See paragraph on "Energy Saving Concept".
11. Light alternately blinking 3 times and then steady on.	→ Descaling needed: machine can be operated when alert appears only a few times after this alert before descaling becomes necessary.
12. Coffee grounds in the cup.	→ Perform the cleaning procedure twice.→ See paragraph on "Cleaning".

During the warranty period, Nespresso will either repair or replace, at its discretion, any defective product at no charge of the owner. Replacement products or repaired parts will be warranted only for the unexpired portion of the original warranty or six months, whichever is greater. This limited warranty does not apply to any defect resulting from negligence, accident, misuse, or any other reason beyond Nespresso's reasonable control, including but not limited to: normal wear and tear, negligence or failure to follow the product instructions, improper or inadequate maintenance, calcium deposits; connection to improper power supply; unauthorized product modification or repair; use for commercial purposes, fire, lightning, flood or other external causes.

This warranty is valid only in the country of purchase or in such other countries where Nespresso sells or services the same model with identical technical specifications. Warranty service outside the country of purchase is limited to the terms and conditions of the corresponding warranty in the country of service.

Should the cost of repairs or replacement not be covered by this warranty, Nespresso will advise the owner and the cost shall be charged to the owner. This limited warranty shall be the full extent of Nespresso's liability however caused.
