OPERATION - Using for the first time
- Remove the appliance from the packaging.
- Clean the appliance thoroughly to remove any manufacturing residues (see "Cleaning and maintenance").
- Fill the bowl with oil or fat. The level of the oil or fat must lie between the 'MIN' and 'MAX' marks in the bowl. Do not use standard margarine or butter.
Besides oil you may also use solid frying fats in this fryer (blocks of fat). When filling or refilling, please follow these instructions:
- Set the temperature at ca. 130 degrees Celsius.
- Take the basket out of the fryer.
- Unpack the blocks of fat (Please make sure all the wrapping paper is properly disposed of) and put them in the fat fryer, spread them over the heating element as much as possible.
- Put the power plug into the socket.
The fryer will now start melting the blocks of fat at a low temperature at which point some smoke may appear. This is not out of the ordinary. Make sure the room is properly ventilated.

NEVER set the temperature above 130 degrees Celsius during this procedure. It will cause the heating element to overheat, which will not be able to discard the heat it generates and that will activate the overheating safeguard.
OPERATION - Overheating safeguard
You can use the deep fryer only when it is filled with oil or fat. Do not use the appliance if the bowl is empty or does not contain sufficient oil or fat. The deep fryer is equipped with an overheating safeguard. This will be activated if the temperature is rising, for example, you use the appliance without (sufficient) oil or fat. Should this happen, you have to rest the deep fryer.

OPERATION - Deep frying
You can use the deep fryer to fry ingredients at the temperature you require.
- Place the appliance on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface.
- Remove the lid
- Remove the frying basket.
- Put the lid on the fat fryer.
- Put the plug into the wall socket. The "on/off" pilot light (8) will illuminate.
- Turn the temperature control knob to the required setting. The temperature pilot light "heating" (9) will illuminate. This indicator light shows that the heating element has been switched on, but that the required temperature has not been reached. The required temperature has been reached once the "heating" indicator light extinguishes.
When setting the temperature take account into the food you intend to fry. Pre-cooked or pre-fried food (such as deep-freeze chips or potato rissoles) will need to be fried at a higher temperature than food that has not been pre-cooked or pre-fried. See Table 1 or the table on the panel of the deep fryer for an indication of the frying temperatures and times.
- Lower the filled frying basket gently into the deep fryer and put the lid on the fat fryer.
- Once the food is ready open the lid completely to ensure that you will not get burnt by the escaping steam. Remove it gently from the bowl. You can use the hook fitted to the frying basket to hang it on the inner rim of the bowl; the excess oil can then drip from the frying basket. Then carefully place the food on a plate or in a bowl.
- When you have finished frying switch off the deep fryer by rotating the temperature control knob fully to the left. Disconnect the plug from the wall socket.
• Make sure that the food is thoroughly dry before you fry it. Moist products can cause severe splashing of the hot oil or fat.
- Do not fry oven-ready chips.
- Do not fry potatoes that have been stored for too long, or are beginning to develop shoots.
- Do not put too much food in the frying basket at one time.
• Filter the oil or fat at regular intervals to remove any breadcrumbs and particles of food.
Take extreme care when filling and emptying the deep fryer, and when opening and closing the lid. The inside of the lid and the bowl are both very hot; the hot vapours and splashes of fat or oil can also cause burns.
OPERATION - Baking times for frozen foods
Please note that these times are approximations and may vary depending on quantity, quality and personal preference. If baking instructions are noted on the food's packaging we advise you to follow these in order to get the best results.
| TIME TEMPERATURE | ||
| Fries * Phase 1 6 – 8 min 1 | 60° | |
| Phase 2 6 – 8 min 190° | ||
| Calamari 9 – 11 min 150° | ||
| Shrimp 8 – 10 min 150° | ||
| Whiting (fillet) 6 – 8 min 150° | ||
| Meatballs 8 – 10 min 170° | ||
| Chicken drumsticks 8 – 10 min 1 | 80° |
* Fresh fries need to be baked in two phases. Firstly, 60-8 minutes on 160 degrees and then 6-8 minutes on 190 degrees.
OPERATION - Baking times for unfrozen foods
Whenever you submerge frozen foods into the fryer the temperature will quickly decrease. Therefore, it's important to set a higher temperature. The frying time will also decrease because of this.
Please note that these times are approximations and may vary depending on quantity, quality and personal preference. If baking instructions are noted on the food's packaging we advise you to follow these in order to get the best results.
| TIME TEMPERATURE | ||
| Fries | 7 – 9 min 190° | |
| Chicken nuggets | 6 – 8 min 190° | |
| Snacks | 4 – 5 min 190° | |
| Fish fillet | 6 – 7 min 180° | |
| Chicken drumsticks 5 – 6 min 180° | ||
OPERATION - Cool Zone system
The built-in Cool Zone system prevents food rests from burning. The oil/fat stays clear, and that's healthier. Also the oil/fat lasts longer this way. Your food couldn't be more delicious.

190°C Cool ZoneCLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Clean the appliance and the loose parts thoroughly after each use:
- Switch off the deep fryer by turning the temperature control knob fully to the left. Disconnect the plug from the wall socket.
- Allow the deep fryer to cool.
- Store the power cord in the compartment at the back of the deep fryer.
- Remove the lid and the frying basket from the deep fryer.
- Remove the inner pan from the deep fryer and pour the oil or fat into a receptacle. Preference is given to handing in frying oil and fat to your municipality; these can be reused for other purposes.
- Remove the remaining oil using absorbent paper kitchen towel.
-
Thoroughly clean the inside of the bowl and frying basket with hot water to which a little washing-up liquid has been added; do NOT use scourers. Then dry them thoroughly.
-
Clean the housing with a damp cloth, if necessary with an additional couple of drops of washing-up liquid. After cleaning, dry the housing thoroughly.
-
Reassemble the appliance

Verify that you have fitted the control panel with the heating element in the correct manner. If the panel is not slid into the guides correctly then the safeguard will be activated; if this occurs it will not be possible to switch on the appliance.
- Keep the appliance in a dry place.

- Verify that the appliance is not connected to the power supply before you clean it. Never use corrosive or scouring cleaning agents or sharp objects (such as knives or hard brushes) to clean the appliance.
- Never immerse the heating element (11) unit in water or another liquid and never place it under flowing water.
• The housing (1), lid (3), frying basket (6) and inner pan are is dishwasher-proof.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE - Replacing the oil or fat
The quality of the oil or fat deteriorates every time you use the deep fryer. For this reason you will need to replace the oil or fat at regular intervals. Topping up the oil or fat will not improve the quality. Use good quality oil or (liquid) fat. When heating solid fat set the deep fryer to the lowest temperature until all the fat has melted. Since margarine and butter are not suitable for deep frying you are strongly advised not to use them.
Replace the oil or fat when:
- it becomes darker in colour;
- it becomes thicker in consistency;
- small air bubbles are seen that take a long time to disappear; in new, fresh fat the air bubbles are large and they also disappear rapidly;
• the fried food has an unpleasant or strange taste or smell;
• the appliance emits more smoke than usual.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE - Replacing the filters
The disposable filters are intended to reduce the smell of frying when using the appliance. They become less effective over the course of time, and for this reason they need to be replaced at regular intervals.
- Unscrew the ventilation cover.
- Remove the filters.
- Fit new filters (with the white filter at the bottom).
- Close the ventilation cover and put the screws back.
