How to use the Duo Filter?

Remove the Duo Filter from its sachet, rinse it under running water for 1 minute. Lift the water tank lid, remove the filter holder, insert the filter by rotating the lower part of the holder. Replace the holder in the coffee maker. Set the rotary indicator to the month of the next change (2 to 4 months depending on water hardness).

How to descale my Pro Aroma FMD144 coffee maker?

Use either a sachet of descaling solution diluted in 250 ml of water, or 250 ml of white vinegar. Pour into the tank (without grounds) and turn on. Let half flow through, stop and let sit for 1 hour. Turn on again to finish the flow. Rinse 2 to 3 times with 1 liter of fresh water. Regular descaling is essential for proper operation.

What to do if water flows too slowly or if excessive noises occur?

This is often due to limescale buildup. Descale your coffee maker as indicated in the manual. If the problem persists, check that the Duo Filter is not clogged and replace it if necessary.

Why does my coffee maker stop before finishing brewing?

If the appliance stops while there is still water in the tank, you need to descale the machine. Limescale can clog the circuit and cause premature shutdown.

How to clean the insulated carafe (if provided)?

For effective cleaning: put a 4-in-1 or 5-in-1 dishwasher detergent tablet in the carafe, fill with boiling water, let sit for 1 minute, then rinse with hot water three times. You can also rinse the carafe with hot water before use for better heat retention.

Can I use ground coffee directly without a paper filter?

Yes, if your coffee maker is equipped with a permanent filter. Place the ground coffee directly in this filter. After use, discard the grounds and rinse the filter under running water. Otherwise, use a size 4 paper filter.

How does the aroma selector work?

The aroma selector (h) allows you to brew a stronger coffee when preparing 1, 2 or 3 cups. It increases the brewing time to extract more flavors. Use it for small quantities.

Are the glass carafe and the filter holder dishwasher safe?

Yes, the glass carafe, lid, and filter holder are dishwasher safe. Never clean the appliance itself in water or in the dishwasher.

BEFORE USE

Run the coffee maker for the first time with 1 L of water, without coffee and without the Duo Filter (j).

Your coffee maker may be fitted with a Duo Filter (accessory in option depending on model).

The Duo Filter is a double-action antichlorine and anti-scale filter.

The anti-chlorine action of the filter brings out the most delicate aromas of the coffee.

Tap-water frequently contains a chlorine level that impedes the development of the coffee's aroma.

The anti-scale action allows for a longer period between descaling operations.

The filter elements making up the Duo Filter (non-polluting activated vegetable carbon and anti-scale resin) comply with the food laws in force. For the protection of the consumer, it is treated with silver salts with a bacteriostatic action. This filter has passed tests by recognised laboratories.

The Duo Filter can be disposed of as domestic waste.

Remove the Duo Filter (j) from its plastic covering. Rinse it under tap water for 1 minute.

Lift the cover (a) of the water tank (b) and lift out the filter holder (k). Rotate the lower part of the support and insert the filter into its housing. Replace the filter holder in the coffee maker: the coffee maker is ready for use.

Note: there is a rotary indicator on the upper part of the filter holder. This indicates when the Duo Filter should next be changed (l): turn the indicator so that the number of the month when the Duo Filter (j) should next be changed is opposite the index mark.

Example: if you replace the Duo Filter (j) in January (1), you should set the indicator to March (3) or May (5), depending on the hardness of your local water supply. Place the number 3 or 5 opposite the index.

Important:

■ The Duo Filter must only be used with drinking water. ■ The coffee maker still functions if there is no filter. ■ If the coffee maker has not been used for more than one month, rinse the Duo Filter under running water. It is recommended not to leave the Duo Filter in place for more than 5 months.

MAKING COFFEE

This coffee maker is fitted with a drip-stop device, allowing you to serve coffee before the water has finished running through. Replace the coffee pot quickly to avoid any overflow.

- Do not exceed the maximum capacity of the water tank as shown by the water level indicator (e).

Keep warm function:

At the end of the cycle (i.e., when there is no more water in the tank), the heat will be maintained until it turns off automatically after about 30 minutes.

Your coffee maker is equipped with a permanent filter (depending on model):

Place the ground coffee directly in the permanent filter. After use, throw away the grounds and rinse the filter under running water. Do not use a paper filter at the same time as the permanent filter, as this may lead to overflowing.

Your coffee maker is equipped with a flavour selector (h) (according to model):

This device enables you to obtain more strongly flavoured coffee, especially for 1, 2, or 3 cups (9).

Your coffee maker is equipped with a vacuum pot (according to model):

■ To keep the coffee hotter for longer, rinse the vacuum pot out with hot water before use (c).

The cover must be screwed tightly shut (clockwise). The pot can be filled with coffee and keeps it hot without further intervention.

■ To serve the coffee, press the button above the handle (10).

Your coffee maker with vacuum pot is equipped with an automatic stop system (according to model):

The appliance will stop once the water has finished running through.

- Wait a few minutes before making another batch of coffee.

CLEANING

■ To dispose of the used grounds, lift the filter holder out of the coffee maker (11). ■ Unplug the appliance. ■ Do not clean the appliance while hot. ■ Clean with a damp cloth or sponge. ■ Never immerse the appliance in water or put it under running water.

■ The glass coffee pot, the cover and the filter holder can be washed in the dishwasher.

To clean the stainless steel vacuum pot (according to model) thoroughly

1. Put a dishwasher tablet into your stainless steel vacuum pot (only).
2. Completely fill the vacuum pot with boiling water.
3. Leave to work for 10 minutes.
4. Rinse with hot water three times.

You may use:

■ either a sachet of descaler diluted in 250ml of water, ■ or 250 ml of white vinegar. ■ Pour into the tank (b) and start the coffee maker (without coffee). - Allow half the liquid to run into the coffee pot (c), then switch off. Leave to work for one hour. ■ Restart the coffee maker to complete the run-through. - Rinse the coffee maker by running it 2 or 3 times with 1 L of clean water.

The guarantee does not cover coffee makers that fail or work badly, due to scale.
