SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY
GROUNDED PLUG
To reduce the risk of electric shock this appliance has a grounded plug (2 blades and 1 pin). If the plug does not fit fully into the electrical outlet contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way or use an adaptor.
BEFORE FIRST USE
- Read all instructions carefully and keep them for future reference.
- Remove all packaging.
- Water boiled for the first time should be discarded.
INSTRUCTION FOR USE
- Fill kettle with water. Do not attempt to fill while kettle is plugged into wall outlet.
-
Ensure that the kettle is filled with a minimum of 1 cup (250 ml) of water. The 1 litre maximum is indicated by the triangle shown inside the spout.
DO NOT use for other than boiling water. Other liquids will contaminate the interior of the Kettle.
DO NOT fill past the MAX level indicator located inside the spout. Overfilling may cause water to spill out when boiling. -
Plug power cord into 120V AC wall outlet. NEVER plug empty kettle into wall outlet.
NOTE: Direct kettle spout away from cabinets, walls, etc to prevent possible steam damage.
- Water is boiled when you hear the kettle whistling.
NOTE: Loudness of kettle whistling will vary with amount of water in kettle. The fuller the kettle, the louder the whistling.
-
Water will boil until plug is removed from wall outlet.
-
Care should be taken when pouring the hot water to avoid personal injury. Pour slowly.
-
If kettle is plugged in dry or is allowed to boil dry, the thermostat will automatically cycle the element off to prevent the kettle from overheating. If this situation occurs, unplug power cord and let kettle cool before refilling.
- Power cord must be disconnected from wall outlet when kettle is not in use.
CARE AND CLEANING
- Unplug power cord from wall outlet. Empty out remaining water and allow Kettle to cool before cleaning.
- Use a soft damp cloth to clean the outside of the Kettle.
DO NOT USE ABRASIVE CLEANERS.
DO NOT IMMERSE KETTLE IN WATER OR OTHER LIQUID.
- Under normal use, a deposit of scale may form on the inside of the Kettle and cause some discolouration. Scale, which has accumulated inside the Kettle, can be removed by boiling equal parts of white vinegar and water (250 ml/1 cup of each is recommended). Once the water has boiled, allow mixture to stand several hours or overnight. Empty out mixture and fill Kettle to the MAX level with fresh water. Bring water to a boil and discard. For heavy scale build-up, repeat this process.
NOTE: This build-up can be delayed by pouring out old water and refilling before each use.
- All servicing, other than cleaning, should be performed by an authorized service representative. See Warranty section.
A short supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards of becoming entangled in or tripping over a long cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounded 3-wire cord. The extension cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or table top, where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
