Before turning on your appliance, and to ensure a safe and correct operation, do not use if:

This appliance can be used by children from the age of 8 and by people with reduced physical, sensorial or mental capabilities and/or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given instructions on using the appliance safely and if they understand the hazards involved. Children may not play with the appliance. Cleaning and maintenance must not be carried out by children without supervision.

1.1. Power Supply
Make sure the main voltage is compatible with the appliance's. If this is not the case please consult the Customer Support Service.
1.2. Power Cord and Other Cables
Do not tangle the cord or pull it to disconnect the appliance. Also, keep the cord away from warm surfaces.
Never use the appliance if it has a damaged cable or socket.
Take it to the Technical Support Service for replacement.
1.3. Humidity and Water
Do not use your appliance in humid places. Do not allow the appliance to become wet under any circumstances as this may be dangerous. To avoid fire hazard or electric shock do not expose your appliance to humidity or water. Furthermore, do not place your appliance under water (e.g. for cleaning).
Before cleaning, be sure to switch off the appliance and remove the plug from power supply. Always allow the unit to cool down before cleaning.
To clean the exterior of the product use a dry soft cloth only.

2. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT NOTICES
- Check that the voltage of your electrical installation corresponds to that indicated on the appliance.
- Never use this appliance near bathtubs, showers, sinks or other water containers.
- Never use this apparatus near running water.
- Never handle this appliance with wet or damp hands.
- Unplug appliance immediately should it get wet.
- This appliance complies with current standards for this type of product.
- Please convey these instructions to potential users.
- This is not a toy. Do not allow young children or people with disabilities play with it.
- Never leave unattended when in use.
- To protect children, do not leave packaging (plastic bags, cardboard boxes or polystyrene) within their reach and never let them play with the plastic film: RISK OF SUFFOCATION.
- Check the power cord regularly for any damage.
- Under no circumstances immerse this appliance in water or any other liquid.
- Do not place this appliance in the dishwasher.
- Do not place this appliance near hot surfaces.
- Do not use any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after any malfunction or damage.
- To avoid danger, damaged power cords must be replaced by the manufacturer, its after-sales service or a qualified technician.

- The unit will not work with a self-timer or remote control.
- Be careful not to scratch the heating plate surface since small fragments of this coating may mix with food and the surface would be damaged beyond repair. Use a traditional wooden or heat-resistant plastic spatula.
- The heating plate has a high-quality non-stick coating. Grease the plate with a little oil before first use, but you will not need to add more later.
IMPORTANT: If the appliance overheats, the built-in safety thermostat will activate the indicator light and automatically switch it off. In this situation:
- Disconnect the appliance from the power;
- Wait 10 to 20 seconds before turning it back on. After that, the appliance will be ready to use again.
PRACTICAL ADVICE
- Defrost frozen food before grilling.
- To grill meat, turn the thermostat to maximum and make sure the grill has heated up before cooking. To cook meat traditionally, according to your taste, select the temperature best suited to your needs.
- Be careful not to scratch the heating plate special coating as they will lose their non-stick properties. Use a traditional wooden or heat-resistant plastic spatula. Do not use sharp and/or sharp metal objects.
- When a part of the grill surface is in use, place all food in the centre.

2.2. Using the Product
BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE FOR THE FIRST TIME
- Clean the grill and accessories. You are advised to heat the grill for 10 minutes without any food, to eliminate any residues of fat and to get rid of any odours.
- Make sure the room you are in is well ventilated while using this appliance.

USE
• Fully unwind the power cord.
- Place the thermostat in the thermostat socket. Check the thermostat knob is set to minimum.
- Connect the appliance to a good earthed power outlet. Check the mains voltage is compatible with that indicated on the appliance.
- Use the thermostat control to select the cooking temperature. The indicator light come on to show the appliance is heating up.
- Preheat the grill to the ideal cooking temperature. The indicator light will turn off once the appliance reaches the desired temperature.
- Place the food on the grill.
- Cooking time will depend on the type of food and your personal taste.
- Unplug the appliance after use and before cleaning, maintenance or assembly of any accessories.
Note: Always insert the thermostat before connecting the appliance. Ensure the inside of the thermostat outlet is completely dry before inserting the thermostat.
Switch the appliance off after use and unplug it before removing the thermostat.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
- Before cleaning your appliance, turn the thermostat to the lowest position and unplug it from the electrical outlet.
- Let the grill cool down before cleaning and remove the thermostat. To do this, firmly hold the power plug and pull.
- Never immerse the grill in water or any other liquid (the oil pan can be washed).
- If any water comes into contact with the electrical connections, allow them to dry before using the appliance.
- Clean the outer surfaces of the grill with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
- Do not use strong detergents or scouring pads that could scratch the ceramic coating.

4. POST-SALE SERVICE
BECKEN has designed this appliance in order to guarantee maximum reliability. However, if a problem occurs do not attempt to open the appliance - there is a risk of electrical shock. If you are not able to solve the problem, please contact the Costumer Support Service of any Worten, Modelo or Continente store in order to be assisted. Worten Equipamentos para o Lar provides a 2-year warranty for manufacturing defects from the date of purchase of the appliance.
WARNING: Any attempt to repair the appliance without contacting the manufacturer or seller will void the warranty.
All users must be familiar with these instructions. Knowing what could go wrong can help prevent problems from occurring.
5. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
In order to protect the environment we strive to reduce the volume of packaging used, limiting it to three easily sorted materials: cardboard, paper and plastic. The appliance is manufactured using recyclable materials after disassembled by a specialized company. Please comply with local regulations concerning the recycling of all materials.
