This innovative »Design LED Light & Charge« features a perfect combination of high-end technology and an astonishing variety of applications embedded in an appealing design. Due to the adjustable lamp arm, you will never be bothered by badly illuminated workplaces. Selecting colour and brightness of the light to the current environmental circumstances and your individual liking is done via a simple touch of the sensors embedded in the base.

Via the integrated USB ports, you may connect other electronic devices, thus using the »Design LED Light & Charge« as a power supply always at hand on your desktop. Further more, wireless energy transfer to your mobile phone is possible by using the smart Qi wireless port—if required, in combination with an optional external wireless receiver, available for the most common types of mobile phones.

To make the benefits of your new »Design LED Light & Charge« complete, the operating elements are covered by a smooth transparent plate without any annoying grooves and hollows.

These instructions for use will inform you on the outstanding functions and features, which make it easy to take pleasure in your new »Design LED Light & Charge«.

These instructions are an essential part of the appliance. Do not pass the appliance without this booklet to third parties.

Carefully read all instructions before operating this appliance and save for further reference. Do not attempt to use this appliance for any other than the intended use, described in these instructions. The consequences of unintended use and/or misuse may be injuries to persons and damage, caused by overheating, fire, and explosion of batteries.

This booklet is an essential part of the appliance. Do not pass over the appliance to third parties without this booklet. Any operation, repair and technical maintenance of the appliance or any part of it other than described in these instructions may only be performed by an authorised service centre. Please contact your vendor.

GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

- This appliance is for household use only and NOT intended for use in moving vehicles. Do not operate or store the appliance in humid or wet areas or outdoors. Any use of accessories, attachments or spare parts that are not recommended by the manufacturer or damaged in any way may result in injuries to persons and/or damage.

- Check the entire appliance regularly for proper operation—especially the power adapter and 12V power cable (e.g. check for melted insulation, deformation, overheating). If any malfunction occurs, immediately unplug the power adapter. Get in contact with an authorized service centre for examination and/or repair.

- Operate the appliance on a stable and dry table or counter, where it cannot fall. Do not place the appliance on a metal surface, and do not place any foreign metal objects on the appliance to avoid interference. Do not place the appliance (light, 12V power cable, and power adapter) on or near hot surfaces. Do not place any heavy and/or sharp-edged objects on the appliance.

• This appliance can be used by persons with reduced physical,

sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, including children aged from 8 years and above, if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Even care and cleaning shall not be performed by young children without supervision. Young Children must always be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance or the packaging.

• Do not use the appliance or any parts or accessories of the appliance with any other device or for any other purpose than described in this booklet.
• Always switch OFF the light (touch the ON/OFF sensor), remove any connected device, and unplug the power adapter, before cleaning the appliance.
• Do not leave the appliance without supervision, while using it as a power supply for any other devices (e.g. charging your mobile phone).
• Always switch OFF the light (touch the ON/OFF sensor) and unplug the power adapter, if you do not use the appliance for an elongated period of time.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS FOR ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES

Connect the power adapter to a suitable protected mains power supply. Ensure that the rating of your mains power supply correspond to the requirements of the appliance (see: 'Technical Specifications').

• In various foreign countries, the specifications for power supplies are subject to incompatible norms. Therefore it is possible that power supplies in foreign countries do not meet the requirements for safe operation of the appliance. Thus, before operating the appliance abroad, ensure that safe operation is possible.
• Connecting the power adapter via a desk top multi socket out-

let, external switching device, or remote control system is possible. Before connecting the power adapter to any other power system aids, always ensure, that the used aids are in perfect condition and meet the requirements of the currently valid technical standards (state of the art) as well as the requirements of the appliance (see: 'Technical Specifications').

- Do not use any other power adapter for energizing the appliance than the dedicated power adapter, provided by the manufacturer. Any use of other power adapters may cause high risk of damage to the light, the used power adapter, or any other devices connected to the light. There is no warranty claim of the purchaser, if any injuries to persons, damage, or consequential damage is caused by incompatible, unsuited, or damaged power supplies.

- The light is powered by extra low voltage (12 V DC), recognized as safe. However, high currents may be possible, causing risk of overheating. Always completely unwind any used power cord before use (especially low voltage cables!). Immediately remove any connected device from the ports (USB or wireless ports), if any problem occurs during operation (e.g. cables, power adapter, light, or connected devices are getting hot, or malfunction occurs). Do not connect any device to the light, that may be incompatible to the used port, or is likely to be damaged in any way, or not in proper working order. Especially when using the light for charging rechargeable batteries of other devices (e.g. mobile phone), risk of overheating, explosion, and splashing chemicals/acids may occur via the integrated batteries of the connected device. Always ensure that any device connected to the light is compatible to the ports of the light (USB ports, Qi wireless port, or external wireless receiver). Do not leave the light and any foreign device unattended, while connected to each other. DO NOT pour or spill any liquids on or under the light, power adapter, or external wireless receiver. Do not immerse any part of the appliance in water or other liquids. Do not place the appliance on wet surfaces. When liquids overflowed or are spilled on the appliance or its parts, immediately unplug the

power adapter. Thereafter, wipe dry and let dry naturally for at least 1 day.

- Power cords may never be knotted, twisted, pulled, strained or squeezed. Do not let any power cord (e.g. 12V power cable of the power adapter) hang over the edge of the table or counter or touch hot surfaces or sharp edges. Ensure that no one will pull the appliance by the power cord. Take care not to entangle in the power cord. • Do not use any hard or sharp-edged objects with the appliance to avoid scratching on the surfaces of the appliance. The wireless ports (Qi wireless port, external wireless receiver) of the light are insulated against metal objects and will be inflected seriously with the insulation damaged.

ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPLIANCE (EMC)

Wireless ports transfer the energy, necessary for operating / charging other devices like mobile phones, via electromagnetic radiation. Most people are already familiar with this technology, and use it in state-of-the-art devices for computers, remote control systems, and telecommunication. According to the present-day level of research this technology is recognized as safe and may be used in various fields.

- However, persons exceptionally sensitive to electromagnetic radiance may be influenced in their health and well-being. These persons should not operate any type of wireless operated devices within their close environment. If in doubt, unplug the power adapter to stop the emission of radiation.

- Do not operate the light and other electronic devices (e.g. television, computer) close together to avoid interference.

- Do not operate the light on a metal surface or place any foreign metal objects on or close to the appliance to avoid interference and useless energy loss.

PROPERTIES OF YOUR DESIGN LED LIGHT & CHARGE

Your new »Design LED Light & Charge« is a high-tech energy saving LED light with additional power output ports for usage as an extra low voltage power supply.

LIGHTING FUNCTION

• The dedicated power adapter provides extra low voltage and smooth, constant output, avoiding any flickering of the light.
• The powerful LED array holds high-quality Osram/Philips LED chips, mounted in a side-view diffuser assembly to enable smooth and even lighting. Thanks to this particular design, an even illumination of the workplace is achieved.
• The illuminance and colour temperature of the light can be controlled in several levels from 10% to 100% and 2700 K to 6500 K (warm white to cold white). This will enable you to perfectly adapt the light to the current lighting conditions and demands of your workplace.
• You control the light via 2 sensor lines by a simple touch.
• To get the light exactly where you need it, the lamp arm is mounted via a hinge at the support arm. It may be folded up by approx. 180°. Additionally, you can rotate the lamp arm about the axis. Therefore, you can direct the light in all directions and badly illuminated corners and spots of your workplace are old hats.
• For your convenience, the light features a memory function: the light will keep your recent setting in memory even when unplugged at the end of the day. When switched ON again, the light will start with this setting.

POWER OUTPUT FUNCTIONS

You may use the light as a 5 V power supply for various electronic devices, especially for recharging the batteries of mobile phones. For this, 2 USB ports and a Qi wireless port are provided within the base of the light.

• The USB ports of the light adjust the current automatically, according to the requirements of the devices connected.
• The ports (USB and/or Qi wireless port) may be used simultaneously as you like.
• When used separately, each port can provide a maximum current of 2 A.
• With the USB ports used simultaneously, the maximum output current of the ports in use will be reduced accordingly to give a total maximum current of 2 A.

Thus, when using both USB ports simultaneously, each port will provide 1 A at the maximum.

• You may use the wireless charging feature of the appliance for any mobile phone equipped with a compatible integrated wireless technology by simply placing the mobile phone onto the charging area.
• To ensure safe operation with a wide range of mobile phones without integrated wireless charging technology, a variety of suitable external wireless receivers is available (see: 'Compatible Mobile Phones for Wireless Charging').
• The charging process is monitored automatically via the electronic system of the light. When used for charging the batteries of a compatible mobile phone, the Qi wireless port will stop operation automatically, if the batteries are fully charged.
• The power/charging indicator will be illuminated blue, while a wireless charging process is running. It will turn red again, if the charging process is finished.
• The charging area is fully insulated and the electronic system will limit the energy transferred automatically, ensuring safe operation even when touched by metal objects.

IMPORTANT: There will be no risk of short circuit or overload, when touching the Qi wireless port with any metal object, but with a foreign metal object between the charging area and the device to be charged, charging may be impossible. For charging, place your device directly onto the charging area. Additionally, useless energy loss may occur with any foreign metal object on or near the charging area, while the light is live.

BEFORE USE

WARNING: Always ensure that young children do not play with any parts or accessories or the packaging!

Do not place or immerse the appliance or any part of it in water or other liquids or pour or spill any liquids on it. Do not use any hard or sharp-edged objects with the appliance or place any heavy or sharp-edged objects on the appliance to avoid damage.

Remove all packaging materials, stickers, and promotional labels attached to your new »Design LED Light & Charge«, but do not remove the model label. It is a good idea to keep the packaging for further storage of the appliance.

OPERATION

⚠ WARNING! Operating devices or charging batteries via an inadequate power supply could bring forth high risk of damage and, in the extreme case, explosion of the batteries! Before connecting your devices to the ports of the light (USB ports, Qi wireless port, or optional wireless receiver), always ensure that the ports of the light are compatible to the power input systems of your devices (USB port/cable or wireless technology). Carefully check the related information given in the instructions of your devices against the information in this booklet (see: 'Compatible Mobile Phones for Wireless Charging' and 'Technical Specifications'). Do not leave the appliance without supervision, while using it as a power supply for any other devices (e.g. charging your mobile phone).

Avoid operating the light in direct vicinity to other electronic devices (e.g. television, computer) to avoid interference.

Before connecting any devices to the ports of the light, ensure that your device is compatible to the port of the light and in proper working order. Do not connect any devices that are likely to be damaged. We will not be liable for any type of injuries to persons, damage, or consequential damage, caused by connecting any device not compatible or damaged in any way.

Do not attempt to recharge one-way batteries (non-rechargeable). This type of batteries may damage any charging port, give off corrosive and toxic chemicals, or even explode!

IMPORTANT: Do not place any foreign metal objects on or near the wireless ports (e.g. fast food packages laminated with tin foil, ball pencils or other stationeries) with the light connected to the power supply. Even though, short-circuit and overload is not possible, eddy currents may be induced within the metal, causing useless energy loss.

⚠️ CAUTION: Do not connect the light to any foreign power adapter not recommended by the manufacturer, because this could damage your power adapter as well as the light.

IMPORTANT: Do not place any foreign metal objects near the Qi wireless port. In addition to useless energy loss, any charging process via the Qi wireless port could fail. With the Qi wireless port idle, the power/charging indicator must be illuminated red.

1. Place the light on your table, where it will not fall down or fall over.
2. Insert the 12 V connector of the power adapter into the power input socket of the light (DC 12 V). Insert the power adapter into the power outlet of your mains power supply. The power/charging indicator will be illuminated red.
3. Fold up the lamp arm and rotate it around the axis for directing the light to the desired position. Your new »Design LED Light & Charge« is now ready for operation.

USING THE LIGHTING FUNCTION

1. Put the light into operation as described above.
2. For switching on the LEDs, touch the ON/OFF sensor first. The LEDs will be illuminated using the recent setting. The memory function of the light will keep the last settings even when unplugged.
3. By touching the function selector, you may select, whether to use the cold white or warm white light separately or in combination.

When selecting separate operation, only those LEDs will be active that are assigned to the selected light quality. You select the desired brightness and light quality by touching the appropriate sensor line. When touching the other sensor line, the previously used LEDs will be switched off automatically.

When selecting combined operation, you may merge the brightness of both types of LEDs according to your liking.

NOTE: The maximum power of the LEDs will always be 5 W, but the colour temperature of the light will change, when selecting the appropriate LED arrays.

1. Select the required level of brightness and the colour temperature by touching the sensor line, assigned to the desired light quality: cold white and/or warm white.

2. If required, fold the lamp arm up/down and turn the lamp arm about the axis for directing the light accurately to the desired position.

3. To switch off the LEDs, simply touch the ON/OFF sensor again. The light will keep your settings in memory.

USING THE USB PORTS

The light is equipped with two 5V DC 2.0 USB standard ports for connecting other devices.

⚠ WARNING: Before using the USB ports of the light, always ensure the compatibility of the device and connector, you wish to connect to the light, to avoid severe damage and, in the extreme case, injuries to persons, as batteries may even explode, when charged by an incompatible power supply. Carefully check the related instructions provided with your device against the information given in this booklet. Before connecting any foreign device to the light, ensure that the foreign device is in proper working order.

1. Carefully check, if the power output port of the light you wish to use, is compatible with the power input system of your device and your device is in full working order (see: 'Properties of Your Design LED Light & Charge' and 'Technical Specifications').
2. Put the light into operation (see: 'Putting the Light into Operation').
3. If required, prepare the device, you wish to connect, according to the instructions provided with this device.
4. Insert the compatible USB connector of your device into the USB port of the light.
5. Monitor the charging process according to the instructions given with the device you are charging.

⚠️ CAUTION: Do not operate the light unattended with any other devices connected to the light.

IMPORTANT: When using the ports of the light simultaneously, the charging process of your mobile phone may last somewhat longer.

WIRELESS CHARGING OF YOUR MOBILE PHONE

You may use the Qi wireless port integrated in the base of the light for charging the rechargeable batteries of mobile phones with integrated wireless technology. In addition, for a variety of mobile phones, an external wireless receiver is

optional available. Please contact your vendor or Gastroback by phone: [phone] or e-mail [e-mail]

IMPORTANT: The Qi wireless port will monitor the charging process. In general, with the charging process complete, the Qi wireless port will stop the energy transfer automatically. The charging system will work properly, if the mobile phone to be charged is completely compatible to the wireless charging system of the light and there is no interference with any other energy absorbing objects. Additionally, the mobile phone to be charged must be in correct working order. However, always keep foreign metal objects (e.g. metal laminated cases / covers / sleeves) or other interfering devices in appropriate distance to the Qi wireless port to avoid interference.

1. Carefully check, if the Qi wireless port of the light, is compatible with the wireless power input system of your mobile phone (see: 'Properties of your Design LED Light & Charge' and 'Technical Specifications'). If you wish to use the external wireless receiver of the light, check the compatibility of this accessory with your mobile phone.
2. Put the light into operation as described above. With the Qi wireless port idle, the power/charging indicator will be illuminated red.
3. If you wish to use the external wireless receiver, insert the plug of the external wireless receiver into the power input port of the mobile phone. For this, refer to the instructions provided with your mobile phone.
4. If required, prepare your mobile phone for charging, as described in the instructions provided with your mobile phone.
5. Place your mobile phone or external wireless receiver on the charging area of the Qi wireless port. The power/charging indicator will turn blue, as soon as the charging process starts. With the charging process complete, the Qi wireless port of the light will stop the energy transfer, the power/charging indicator will turn red again and the Qi wireless port will switch back to idle mode automatically.
6. Remove your mobile phone from the charging area and check the success of the charging process. If required, unplug the external wireless receiver from your mobile phone.

⚠️ CAUTION: Do not operate the light unattended with another device connected to the light.

IMPORTANT: When using the ports (USB and Qi wireless) simultaneously, the charging process of your mobile phone may last somewhat longer.

SOLVING PROBLEMS

If any problems occur during operation, you will find solutions in this section.

Problem Possible	Reason	The Solution
The light stays dark and/or devices connected to the ports do not work.	The power adapter is not live or not connected to the light.	Ensure that the power adapter is plugged into a suitable power outlet of your mains power supply. Use a common light to check, whether the power outlet is live.Ensure that the connector of the power adapter is plugged into the power input socket of the light.
The light is illuminated but devices connected to the ports do not work.	The port of the light is not suited for the device connected.	Immediately unplug the connected device from the light or remove it from the charging area. BEFORE connecting any devices, ALWAYS check, whether the devices you wish to connect to the light are compatible to the ports of the light.
	The connected device needs some more time for charging.	Charging rechargeable batteries may take some hours, depending on the type of batteries, their history, and their age.
	Some devices do not work, while connected to a charger.	Disconnect your device from the port of the light or remove it from the charging area. Then try again. Check, whether the batteries have been charged.
	Malfunction has occurred.	Do not connect defective devices to any other devices to avoid further damage.Get in contact with the authorized service centre.
The power/charging indicator is illuminated blue without any device being placed on the charging area.	A foreign metal object is within the reach of the charging field.	Remove any metal objects from the immediate vicinity of the charging area. To avoid useless energy loss, always keep foreign metal objects away from the charging area.
	Malfunction has occurred.	Immediately unplug the power adapter. Get in contact with your vendor for examination and repair.
The charging process of your device seems to take too much time.	The rechargeable batteries of your device are exhausted.	The time duration for a charging process depends on the type of batteries, their history, and their age. The lifetime of rechargeable batteries is subject to great variations. Contact an authorized service centre of your mobile phone for checking the batteries.
	The power input system of your device is damaged.	Get in contact with an authorized service centre of your device for examination and repair.
	A foreign metal object is within the reach of the charging field.	Remove any metal objects from the immediate vicinity of the charging area. To avoid useless energy loss, always keep foreign metal objects away from the charging area.
	Other power consuming devices are connected to the ports of the light.	With more than one device connected to the ports of the light, the maximum output current may be reduced respectively. Thus the charging process may take some more time.
The wireless charging process will not start. The power/charging indicator stays red.	Incompatibility of your device and the Qi wireless port of the light.	Before connecting your device to any port of the light, always check the compatibility of the energy transfer systems. Do not attempt to charge any incompatible device via any ports of the light to avoid damage.
	The distance between the device and the charging area of the Qi wireless port is to long.	Ensure to place the device to be charged directly onto the charging area. If in doubt, remove any cases, removable covers, and sleeves before charging. Then try again.
	The external wireless receiver of the light is not or not correctly placed on the charging area.	When using the external wireless receiver of the light, this optional accessory must be placed onto the charging area and the device to be charged must be connected to the external wireless receiver. 	The wireless technology of the mobile phone is not working.	Try to charge the mobile phone via the dedicated charger, provided with the mobile phone. Check the compatibility of the wireless charging systems of the light and the mobile phone. If in doubt, contact the competent service centre.
The power/charging indicator turned red after the charging process, but the batteries of your mobile phone are not charged.	The wireless technology of your mobile phone and the Qi wireless port of the light may be incompatible.	Before connecting your device to the ports of the light, always check the compatibility of the energy transfer systems. Do not attempt to charge any incompatible device via any ports of the light to avoid damage.
	The rechargeable batteries of your device are exhausted or defective.	Get in contact with an authorized service centre of your device for examination and/or replacement of the batteries.
	Interference with any foreign metal objects near the Qi wireless port.	The Qi wireless port induces eddy currents within any metal objects. This will happen in competition with the charging process. Therefore, foreign metal objects near the Qi wireless port or external wireless receiver may prevent any charging process. If in doubt, remove any sleeves and cases from your mobile phone before wireless charging.
	The optional external wireless receiver of the light is not or not correctly placed on the charging area.	When using the external wireless receiver of the light, this optional accessory must be placed onto the charging area and the device to be charged must be connected to the external wireless receiver. Additionally, try again after turning the external wireless receiver upside down.
	The distance between the device and the charging area of the Qi wireless port is to long.	Ensure to place your device to be charged directly onto the charging area. If in doubt, remove any cases, removable covers, and sleeves before charging. Then try again.
	Malfunction has occurred.	Immediately remove the device from the charging area and get in contact with an authorized service centre.

CARE AND CLEANING

⚠️ CAUTION: Always ensure that the appliance is out of reach of young children. Always switch OFF the appliance (touch the ON/OFF sensor), remove any devices connected to the light, then unplug the power adapter, before cleaning the appliance. Special care is necessary, when cleaning the external wireless receiver. Do not bend, fold, or squeeze the external wireless receiver, and do not pull the cable.

Do not immerse the light or power adapter or external wireless receiver in water or any other liquid. Do not spill or drip any liquids on any parts of the light to avoid damage.

The appliance will not need much care or cleaning. In most cases, wiping off dust via a soft dry cloth is sufficient. Occasionally, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to maintain the pleasing appearance of the surfaces. However, do not use any corrosive chemicals (e.g. solvents), abrasive cleaners, or hard utensils for cleaning the appliance or any part of it, to avoid damage to the surfaces. Do not use violence.

Thorough cleaning is done according to the following instructions.

1. Switch OFF the light (touch the ON/OFF sensor) and remove any devices, connected to the light. Then unplug the power adapter.
2. Wipe the exterior of the light, the power adapter and 12V cable using a soft damp cloth. For this, if required, you may use some mild detergent.
3. Polish with a soft dry cloth.
4. If required, clean the external wireless receiver. However, use special care to avoid damage. Carefully wipe off any dust from the external wireless receiver via a soft dry cloth.

STORING

⚠️ CAUTION: Young children must be supervised that they do not play with the appliance or any part or accessory of it.

1. When the appliance will not be in use for an elongated time, always switch OFF the light (touch the ON/OFF sensor), remove any devices connected to the light, and unplug the power adapter.
2. Clean the appliance and all parts and accessories (see: 'Care and Cleaning').
3. Only store the appliance where it is protected against inadmissible strain (e.g.

moisture, electric or mechanic shock, frost, direct sunlight, and temperatures above 40^ C/100°F) and where it is out of reach of young children. Do not place any hard or heavy objects on the appliance or any part of it.

1. Lay the 12V cable loosely around the power adapter. The 12V cable may not be knotted, squeezed or bent. Do not pull or strain the 12V cable. Store the parts and accessories with the appliance.

IMPORTANT: Do not use any parts or accessories of the appliance for any other purpose than operating the appliance as described in this booklet.

NOTES FOR DISPOSAL

Dispose of the appliance and packaging must be effected in accordance with the corresponding local regulations and requirements for electrical appliances and packaging. Please contact your local disposal company.

Do not dispose of electrical appliances as unsorted municipal waste, use separate collection facilities. Contact your local government for information regarding the collection systems available. If electrical appliances are disposed of in landfills, dumps, or refuse incineration, hazardous substances can leak into the groundwater or can be emitted into air, thus getting into the food chain, and damaging your health and well-being as well as poisoning flora and fauna. When replacing old appliances with new once, the vendor is legally obligated to take back your old appliance for disposal at least for free of charge.

Any demonstrable manufacturing or material defects will be to the exclusion of any further claim and within 2 years after purchasing the appliance free of charge repaired or substituted. There is no Warranty claim of the purchaser if the damage or defect of the appliance is caused by inappropriate treatment, over loading or installation mistakes. The Warranty claim expires if there is any technical interference of a third party without a written agreement. The purchaser has to present the sales slip in assertion-of-claim and has to bear all charges of costs and risk of the transport.

You will get a free quotation and, thereafter, can decide, whether we shall repair the appliance to the costs possibly accrued, send back the defective appliance for free of charge, or dispose of the appliance for free of charge.

The appliance is intended for household use only and NOT suited for commercial usage. Do not attempt to use this appliance in any other way or for any other purpose than the intended use, described in these instructions. Any other use is regarded as unintended use or misuse, and can cause severe injuries or damage. There is no warranty claim of the purchaser if any injuries or damages are caused by unintended use.
