Frequently Asked Questions - MUTO Architect Dormakaba

What is the maximum door weight the MUTO Architect can support?
The maximum door weight depends on the model. For example, the MUTO Premium XL 150 supports up to 330 lb (150 kg), while the Comfort L 80 supports up to 176 lb (80 kg). Always check the specific model's specifications.
Can the MUTO Architect be installed on both glass and wood doors?
Yes, the system is designed for both glass and wood doors. Glass thickness should be between 5/16" and 17/32" (8-14 mm). Wood doors can be up to 60" wide.
How does the E-Lock option work?
The MUTO E-Lock is an optional electronic locking mechanism that integrates with any access control system. It secures the sliding door panel when closed and is compatible with MUTO Premium XL systems (not with telescopic models).
What does the status indicator do?
The status indicator transmits a signal to a building management system or indicator lamp when the door opens or closes. It allows easy monitoring of door position, useful for facility management in commercial buildings.
Can the MUTO Architect be used for bi-parting doors?
Yes, the system supports one or two-panel configurations, including bi-parting (two panels opening from center). A bulb seal is recommended for bi-parting applications to ensure proper sealing.
What mounting options are available?
The system can be mounted on wall, ceiling (surface or concealed), or used in all-glass opening installations. Some models offer both surface and concealed ceiling mount options.
Are telescopic models available?
Yes, the MUTO Premium XL 80 Telescopic is available for two-panel single direction or four-panel bi-parting configurations. Note that telescopic models may have different width limitations and do not support E-Lock.
What finishes are available for the system?
Standard finishes include Clear Anodized (150), Anodized Similar to Stainless Steel (113), and Black Anodized (109). Custom anodized (199) and custom powder coat (399) finishes are also available.
Is the MUTO Architect ANSI/BHMA certified?
Yes, most models are ANSI/BHMA Certified A156.14 Grade 1. This certification ensures high performance and durability for commercial applications. The XL 80 Telescopic certification was in process at the time of the manual.
How do I maintain the sliding door system?
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the track and panels with a mild detergent and soft cloth. Lubricate moving parts as needed. Avoid abrasive cleaners. For specific issues, consult the manual or contact Dormakaba support.

The MUTO E-Lock interfaces with any access control system.

The Synchro feature allows synchronized opening and closing of bi-parting doors. (Non-telescopic only)

Your benefits:

• For glass or wooden door solutions
