How do I connect the D261N headset to my computer?
If your headset has a 3.5 mm plug, connect it to the headphone and microphone jacks on your PC (use a splitter if needed). For Quick Disconnect (QD) models, connect the QD cable to your desk phone or an adapter.
Can I use this headset with my smartphone?
Yes, but you may need a 3.5 mm adapter for combined audio and microphone. The D261N is designed primarily for office phones, but can work with mobile devices.
How do I adjust the volume?
Use the inline volume control wheel on the cord. Rotate it up to increase volume and down to decrease.
How do I mute the microphone?
Slide the mute switch on the inline control to the mute position (usually marked with a red indicator). The microphone will be disabled.
The microphone is not working. What should I do?
Check that the mute switch is off. Ensure the connections are secure. If using a splitter, verify it is properly inserted. Test with another device to rule out a hardware issue.
How do I clean the headset?
Wipe the earpiece and headband with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use alcohol or abrasive cleaners. The microphone cover can be gently brushed to remove debris.
Can I replace the ear cushion?
Yes, replacement ear cushions are available. Contact Plantronics support or check online retailers for compatible spare parts.
Is the headset compatible with electronic hookswitch (EHS) cables?
Yes, the D261N supports Plantronics EHS adapters for remote call control on compatible desk phones. Check the manual for specific adapter models.
What is the warranty period for the D261N?
Plantronics offers a 2-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Keep your proof of purchase for service.
How do I store the headset when not in use?
