allows avoiding scale formation and protecting the metal walls of the boiler. KALSTOP can be found in small appliance stores and Polti service centres. Alternatively, we recommend using a 50/50 mixture of tap water and demineralised water.
- Do not use demineralised water alone, but mix it with tap water as described above.

IMPORTANT
Before leaving our factory all our products are rigorously tested. This is the reason why your VA-PORELLA may contain some residual water in the boiler.
PREPARATION FOR USE
- Pull up the self-refilling tank lid (1) (Fig. 1) and fill the tank with 1,2l of water, making sure it does not overflow. Close the lid.
Ordinary tap water may also be used. However, since water contains limestone by nature, which may cause scaling in the long run, we recommend using a 50/50 mixture of tap water and demineralised water or treated with softening systems. To use tap water only and avoid scale formation, we recommend the addition of the special natural scale removal agent Kalstop FP 2003.
Do not use demineralised water alone, but mix it with tap water as described above.
Never use distilled water or scented water.
- Slowly pull out the power cable (9) to the desired length as shown in (fig. 2).
- Connect the cable plug to an earthed power supply of the correct voltage.
- Press the ON/OFF switch (2). The ON indicator light (A) and the "Iron heating" indicator light (11) will turn on.
- The sound emitted on switching on your appliance and periodically during use, is due to the water refilling system and is quite normal.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Check the manufacturer's label on the garment, and interpret the symbol on the label as follows:
- It is best not to use steam when ironing silk or synthetics, as iron temperature and pressure will be enough to ensure good results. Use the WOOL setting if you wish to iron particularly delicate fabrics (synthetics and silk) with steam.
- To optimise ironing time, iron the most delicate fabrics (SYNTH/SILK settings) before heavier fabrics. If you do it the other way around, even if steam production is not stopped, you will have to wait for the iron and the boiler to cool down to the selected iron temperature and steam pressure.
Check, based on the following table, the most appropriate type of ironing:
DRY IRONING
Adjust the selection dial (6) to the SYNT SILK DRY position.
Wait until the iron heating light (11) turns off.

SETTING ECO cool cotton air down• After setting the desired programme, the steam ready light (B) flashes. (except if using the SYNT SILK DRY programme, in which case the boiler remains off).
- Before starting to iron, wait for the steam pressure indicator (B) to remain on fixed and the "Iron heating" indicator light (11) to go out.
- Push the button (10) on the iron to release bursts of steam from the holes on the sole-
plate. Release the button and the steam flow stops.
NOTE: during initial operation of the iron, a few drops of water mixed with steam may come out of the soleplate until the temperature stabilises. It is advisable to direct the first jets of steam onto an old cloth until a uniform jet of steam is obtained.
- In order to have a continuous steam jet, move the button (10a) forwards. Steam will keep on coming out, even releasing the steam request button. To interrupt the outlet, move the button (10a) backwards (fig.4).
NOTE:
- The “Iron heating” indicator light (11) turns on and off during use. This indicates that the electrical resistor has started to work to keep the temperature in the iron steady. This is a normal occurrence, and it is therefore possible to continue ironing.

The symbol on the label means: do not iron
ECO FUNCTION
Set the programme by turning the selection dial (6) corresponding to the "ECO" indication.

text_image
ECO Wool COTTON Power Cherry UnionWith the ECO function on, the appliance sets itself to a medium level of both steam pressure and iron temperature, thereby optimising consumption whilst ensuring optimum ironing of the hardest-wearing fabrics (cotton / jeans / linen).
Do not use this mode for ironing synthetic, silk and wool clothing
SHORTAGE OF WATER
The lack of water in the tank (3) is signalled by the indicator light (C) coming on.
To return to ironing, proceed as follows:
- Fill the tank (3) again, as described in the paragraph "PREPARATION".
- Press the "RESET" (5) (Fig5) key to turn off the no water light (C).
PUTTING AWAY THE APPLIANCE
Make sure the appliance has cooled down completely before putting it away.
- Tug on the power cable gently (9) until it clicks once, and then accompany it with your hand as it is automatically wound up by the cable winder (9a).
- Position the flex (steam and electric) (7) in the specific housing (8) (fig. 6).
- Carry the Vaporella by its convenient carry handle (1) (fig.6).
ATTENTION: before moving Vaporella by its carry handle, ensure that you have replaced the power supply cable (9) and flex (steam and electric) (7) as described previously.
ENERGY SAVING
STAND-BY FUNCTION
After 10 minutes of the appliance not being used, it automatically goes into stand-by mode. Both the boiler and iron are switched off. The indicator lights (A), (B) and (C) flash simultaneously.
To re-activate the appliance, press the steam request button (10).
N.B.: The stand-by function will not be applied if the selection dial (6) is set to "SYNT SILK DRY".
CARE OF YOUR VAPORELLA
- Before attempting any maintenance operation, always disconnect the appliance from the mains.
- To clean the body of the appliance, simply use a moist cloth. Do not use solvents or detergents which may harm the body material.
CLEANING THE BOILER
- Disconnect the appliance and let it cool down for at least 2 hours.
• Empty the water tank to prevent leakage. - Turn the appliance upside-down and use the hexagon wrench (13) to unscrew the boiler cap (12) on the bottom of the appliance (fig.7).
- Use the funnel (14) to pour 250 ml of cold water into the boiler.
CAUTION: do not pour more than the specified amount of water into the boiler. Pour water slowly, being careful not to let it overflow, as this could damage the appliance (fig.8). - Rinse out the boiler and pour the water away into the sink or into a container for collecting dirty water.
- If the water is very dirty, repeat the operation until it is clean.
- Before screwing the boiler cap (12) back on, pour 100 ml of water in.
Do not operate the equipment again with the boiler empty. - Put the cap back on the boiler, checking that the seal is present and that the cap is screwed on properly.
- Fill the water tank again and put the cap on.
- Turn the appliance on again.
- Before ironing, release steam into the sink or another container and check that the steam is clean. This should take a few seconds.
- Resume ironing normally.
- To maintain optimum performance, clean the boiler every 10/20 uses depending on the amount of limestone in the water.
