About the Alarm
Kit Contents
• 1 x Shock sensing alarm
- 1 x Double-sided adhesive
- 1 x Instruction manual
Important-Read before installing
- Do not expose the alarm unit to any severe shocks (such as being dropped or struck) this can damage the shock sensor and decrease sensitivity.
- Use only alkaline batteries.
- Do not install outdoors.
- Test the alarm periodically (every 1-2 months) to ensure it is working properly.
- This alarm cannot offer complete protection for your home or business – it is simply an alarm system.
Introduction
The glass break alarm is a vibration-sensitive alarm that adheres onto the glass of windows. The vibration caused by impact on the window or by someone forcing open and breaking the window will activate the alarm.
Installation
This alarm is suitable for mounting in dry interior locations only.
- Fix the alarm in position on the window glass using the adhesive pad supplied. Ensure that the surface is clean and free from grease and dirt before applying the adhesive pads. If you need to re-mount or move the sensor, you can use any double-sided adhesive tape or pads. Where you mount the sensor will affect sensitivity. Mounting the alarm in the centre of the window will increase sensitivity.
- Slide off the battery compartment cover.
- If fitted, carefully remove the battery isolation tab from between the batteries. If the batteries are dislodged, replace them noting the correct polarity shown inside the battery compartment.
- Slide the battery cover back onto the unit
System Operation
Select the operating sensitivity, HI or LO as required using the slide switch on the side of the alarm.
LO: Alarm active, but at low sensitivity.
HI: Alarm active, and in its most sensitive state and will go off if gently tapped.
OFF: Alarm inactive/stop siren. It will not sound under any circumstances.
Note: Setting the alarm to low sensitivity will require a greater amount of vibration to trigger the alarm but will make it less prone to false alarms.
When triggered the alarm will sound for approximately 30 seconds and the device will automatically reset until the alarm is switched OFF.
Testing
It is recommended that the alarm is tested immediately after installation and at regular intervals not exceeding one month.
Note: A cloth can be used to cover the siren and reduce the sound output of the alarm during testing. To test the battery, remove the battery cover and press the battery test button. If the battery status indicator LED does not illuminate or is dim, then the batteries should be replaced.
Batteries
Do not allow batteries to corrode and leak, as this may cause permanent damage to the product. Take care to insert the batteries with the correct polarity as shown inside the battery compartments. Do not mix new and old batteries or different types of batteries. Do not use rechargeable batteries. At the end of their useful life, the batteries should be disposed of via a suitable recycling centre. Do not dispose of with your normal household waste. DO NOT BURN.
