About the Alarm

Contents:

• 1 x Water Leakage Alarm
- 2 x Double sided stickers for mounting to surface.
- 1 x Instruction manual

IMPORTANT – READ BEFORE INSTALLING

  • Do not expose the alarm unit to any severe shocks (such as being dropped or struck) this can damage the shock sensor and decrease sensitivity.
  • Use only alkaline batteries.
  • Do not install in outdoors.
  • Replace the batteries every six months.
  • The Sensors should be mounted on any hard or flat surface with the provided adhesive disc.
  • The Sensor must come in direct contact with water in order for the alarm to activate.
  • The Sensor should not be submerged in water.
  • Test the alarm periodically (every 1-2 months) to ensure it is working properly.

How it Works

The water sensor works consist of two small electrodes, mounted on a water resistant cable. These two electrodes on the sensor will detect the small increase in conductivity which occurs if they are exposed to water.

The electrodes use a very low current, and are harmless.

Remember that the sensor doesn't need to be fully immersed in a water to be triggered.

Simply being sufficiently wet (such as being exposed to rain or particularly moist environments) can provide enough conductivity to trigger the sensor, as can the electrodes touching metal or other conductive materials.

We suggest, therefore, that mounting the sensor somewhere under cover (or at least somewhere sheltered) is the most predictable option. Places such as basement or underneath floorboards can be a good option, as the alarm will notify you before your home floods!

Setting up the Alarm

Installing the Batteries

Your alarm needs two AAA batteries (not included) for power.

  1. Slide the battery cover in the direction of the arrow to remove it.
  2. Place the batteries in the compartment as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked inside.
  3. Slide the battery cover back onto the unit. Replace the batteries when the sound becomes weak. If the alarm does not work after you install the batteries, remove and reinstall the batteries.

Mounting the Alarm

This alarm will sound when the sensor is exposed to water, so you should place the sensor at the level the water will be when you want the alarm to sound. Typically, this will be just above the level of the floor, but this depends on your needs.

  1. Peel off backing from one side of the double-sided sticker and press it onto the back of the alarm.
  2. Peel off the backing from the other side and press the alarm in your desired position and hold it in place for about a minute. Let the sensor hang down to the level you want the alarm to be sensitive to. Be sure you leave both electrodes exposed – if water cannot make contact with them both at the same time then the alarm will not function.

Operation

  1. Turn the unit on by moving the switch on the side to the ON position.
  2. Select either High or Low siren volume by the switch on the opposite side.
  3. To disarm the unit, move switch to the OFF position.
  4. The red LED will flash along with the alarm siren when the unit detects water.

CAUTION

Remove the batteries before storing the alarm for long periods of time. Batteries corrode over time and may permanently damage the unit.

Different types of batteries or new and used batteries should not be mixed. Depleted batteries should be removed from the unit and disposed of properly.

Note: Please remove the insulation tab before using the unit.
