How do I use the steam burst function?

Read the operating instructions carefully before use.

Save them for future reference.

• Check that the voltage selector setting matches the mains voltage.
• Never leave the appliance unattended when the power cord is plugged in.
• Unplug the power cord before filling/emptying water.
• The appliance is intended to be used as a travel iron, not for regular ironing in the home.
• Only use and store the appliance on a stable surface.
• Do not use the appliance if it has been dropped, is visibly damaged or leaks.
• The soleplate and steam are very hot – risk of burn injuries.
• Do not leave water in the appliance if the temperature in the room is 0°C or lower.
• Make sure that no one is standing in front of the appliance when you press the steam button – the jet of steam reaches a long way.
• Do not touch hot parts. Use the handle and knobs.
• Do not allow the power cord to come into contact with the hot surfaces.
• Do not fill the appliance from a running tap, use the supplied beaker.
• Allow the appliance to cool before cleaning.
• Never immerse the appliance, the power cord or plug in water or any other liquid.

USE

When the product is new

Remove all the packaging and any stickers. The first time the appliance is switched on, it may make a noise and smell slightly. This is completely normal and soon stops. Before using for the first time, use the iron on a spare piece of cloth.

Before use

- Check that the mains voltage corresponds to the rated voltage on the type plate.

- There is a voltage selector on the base (120 VAC/220–240 VAC). Check that the voltage selector setting matches the mains voltage. The wrong setting can result in electric shock and/or material damage.

Changing the voltage in the voltage selector

1. Unplug the power cord.
2. Insert a thin hard object in the voltage selector.
3. Move the voltage selector with the thin hard object to the right mains voltage..

Filling with water

1. Unplug the power cord.

2. Release and lift off the cap for the reservoir.

3. Fill the reservoir with the supplied beaker and then replace the cap.

Do not fill above the MAX mark.

• If the water is hard we recommend using demineralised water. Do not use distilled water.
  — Never fill the reservoir with anything other than water.

• Always unplug the power cord and empty the reservoir after use.

• Set a suitable temperature according to the ironing instructions for the garment.

- Set the correct temperature by turning the temperature control to the right position.

• If there are no ironing instructions on the garment, but you know which material it is made of, use the setting in the table.
  — The status lamp goes off when the set temperature is reached.

Tip

• Sort the ironing according to the symbols on the washing labels or the cloth quality.
• Start with the garments that have the lowest ironing temperature, e.g. synthetic materials. Continue with the garments that withstand higher temperatures.
• For garments consisting of mixed materials, e.g. 40% cotton and 60% polyester, use the temperature setting for the material that withstands the lowest temperature.
• Use a low temperature for garments with spangles, embroidery, and applications etc.
• If you are unsure of the temperature the material can withstand, try ironing a concealed part of the garment. Start with a low temperature and gradually increase to a suitable temperature.
• Never iron over stains. The heat will cause stains to burn into the material.
  • Use a medium temperature when ironing without steam. A high temperature can leave yellow marks.
• Iron silk, woollen and synthetic garments from the reverse side to avoid leaving marks.
• Iron velvet in the direction of the fibres and do not press on the iron to avoid making the

material shiny.

• Many fabrics are easier to iron when they are not completely dry, silk for example should always be ironed when damp.
• Garments become more wrinkled if the washing machine is full and when spin drying at high speed.

Ironing with steam

1. Turn the temperature control and steam control to

1. Plug in the power cord. When the travel iron has reached the set temperature the status lamp goes off and steam is produced automatically during the ironing. Wait until the status lamp has gone off before ironing, otherwise water can drip from the soleplate.

Ironing without steam

1. Empty the water reservoir
2. Move the steam control to 🚗 and set the required temperature with the temperature control.
3. Plug in the power cord. When the travel iron has reached the set temperature the status lamp goes off.

NOTE: If there is water in the reservoir and the temperature control is set to ••• steam will be produced automatically.

IMPORTANT: The status lamp comes on during ironing to indicate that the appliance is heating up to maintain the set temperature. If you lower the temperature after ironing at a high temperature, do not start ironing until the status lamp comes on.

After use

1. Turn the temperature control to "MIN".
2. Unplug the power cord, remove adapter where appropriate, and allow the iron to cool standing upright on the heel.
3. If there is any water left in the reservoir, open the cap, turn the iron upside down and shake out the water. Replace the cap.
4. Press the handle lock button and fold down the handle.
5. Wind up the power cord round the iron.

Storage

1. Unplug the iron from the power outlet.
2. Allow the appliance to cool completely.
3. Wind up the power cord.

4. Always store the appliance upright.

5. Empty the reservoir by turning the iron upside down and gently shaking it.
