Frequently Asked Questions - Indigo IS-505 Scarlett

How do I use the different temperature settings?
After turning on the kettle, the indicator ‘100°C’ will blink. Press the temperature buttons to select the desired temperature (70°C for white tea, 80°C for green, 85°C for red, 90°C for oolong, 100°C for black). The selected indicator will blink then stay lit during boiling. The kettle turns off automatically when temperature is reached.
Can I use the kettle for other liquids besides water?
No, the kettle is designed only for heating water. Do not use it for milk, oil, or other liquids as it may cause damage or safety hazards.
How do I clean the kettle and remove limescale?
First, unplug and let cool. Clean the exterior with a soft damp cloth and dry. For limescale, use a commercial descaling agent or a mixture of water and vinegar. Run the solution through a boil cycle, then rinse thoroughly. The removable filter can be washed under running water with a soft brush.
What is the keep warm function and how do I activate it?
The keep warm function maintains the selected water temperature for up to 120 minutes. To activate, select your desired temperature, then press and hold the keep warm button for 3 seconds. The indicator stays lit during this time. To stop, press the button again or remove the kettle from the base.
Why does my kettle turn off before boiling?
If there is too little water (below MIN) or no water, the overheat protection activates and turns off the kettle automatically. Wait at least 10 minutes for it to cool, then refill with at least 0.25 liters of water before using again.
How do I properly fill the kettle?
Remove the kettle from the base, press the lid opening button, and pour water. Observe the water level scale – do not fill below MIN (0.25L) or above MAX (1.7L). Close the lid tightly before placing on base and switching on.
Is the filter replaceable? Where can I get a new one?
Yes, the filter is removable and can be cleaned or replaced. Contact Scarlett customer service or an authorized service center for spare parts. The filter prevents scale particles from entering your cup.
What should I do if the kettle doesn't turn on?
Check that the power cord is plugged in securely and the base is dry. Ensure the kettle is correctly placed on the base. If it still doesn't work, the overheat protection may have activated – let it cool for 10 minutes. If problem persists, contact service.
Can I leave the kettle unattended while boiling?
No, you should never leave the kettle unsupervised during use. Unplug after each use. The kettle has auto shut-off, but it's important to stay nearby in case of malfunction.
How should I store the kettle when not in use?
Unplug, let it cool, empty any water, and wrap the cord in the cord storage compartment under the base. Store in a dry, cool place away from heat sources.
