How to use the kettle for the first time?

Remove all packaging and stickers. Adjust the cord length by winding it under the base. Fill with water, boil and discard the water from the first two or three uses to remove dust.

How to clean the anti-scale filter?

Unplug the kettle and let it cool. Remove the removable filter. If it is wet, rinse it under water; if dry, brush it gently. For deep cleaning, soak it in white vinegar or diluted citric acid.

How to descale the kettle?

Descale at least once a month. Use either white vinegar (fill with 0.5 L, let sit for 1 hour cold), or citric acid (boil 0.5 L of water, add 25 g citric acid, let sit for 15 minutes), or a specific descaler. Then rinse 5 to 6 times.

What to do if the kettle does not turn on?

Check that the kettle is plugged in and the base is properly connected. If it has run dry or scale has built up, the dry-run protection may have activated: let it cool for 15 minutes, fill with water and try again.

Why does the water taste like plastic?

This often happens with a new kettle. Discard the water from the first uses. If the problem persists, fill with water to the maximum, add two teaspoons of baking soda, boil and discard the water. Rinse well.

Can I open the lid while the water is boiling?

No, never open the lid while the water is boiling risk of boiling water ejection. Wait for the end of boiling and automatic shut-off.

How much water should I put in?

Fill between the indicated minimum and maximum levels. Do not fill above the maximum to avoid boiling water overflow. Never operate the kettle without water.

How to choose the temperature (if my model has a selector)?

Use the 'boil' position for boiling water, or the 'tasting' position for an ideal immediate temperature. After heating, if you switch quickly from one position to another, the kettle must reset; you can add cold water to speed up cooling.

Is the kettle safe for children?

The appliance can be used by children over 8 years old under supervision. Children must not play with it. Keep the kettle and cord out of reach of children under 8 years old. Do not carry a child while drinking a hot beverage.

What to do if the lid breaks?

This kettle is not designed to operate without its lid. In case of loss or breakage, contact your after-sales service center. Do not reuse the kettle without the lid.

- Children should not clean or perform maintenance procedures on the appliance unless they are supervised by a responsible adult.

• For your safety, this appliance meets applicable standards and regulations (Directives on Low Voltage, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Materials in contact with food articles, Environment, etc.).
• Only plug the appliance into an earthed mains outlet. Check that the voltage indicated on the rating plate of the appliance corresponds to that of your electrical installation.
• Any connection error will invalidate your guarantee.
• The guarantee does not cover kettles that fail to operate or operate badly due to a failure to descale the appliance regularly.

• Always remain vigilant when the appliance is on, and in particular be careful of the steam coming out of the spout which is very hot.

• Never touch the filter or the lid when the water is boiling.
• Also be careful as the body of stainless steel kettles becomes very hot during operation. Only touch the handle of the kettle.
• Never move the kettle when it is in operation.
• Protect the appliance from damp and freezing conditions.
  • Always use the filter during heating cycles.
• Never heat the kettle when it is empty.
• Place the kettle and its power cord well to the back of the work surface.

BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

1. Remove all of the various packaging, stickers or accessories from both the inside and outside of the kettle.
2. Adjust the length of the cord by winding it under the base. Wedge the cord into the notch. (fig 1)
   Throw away the water from the first two/three uses as it may contain dust. Rinse the kettle and the filter separately.

USE

1. TO OPEN THE LID, ACCORDING TO THE MODEL

• Hinged lid: press if necessary on the locking system and pull backwards. (fig 2)
  – Assisted opening lid: press on the locking system and the lid lifts automatically. (fig 3 / fig 3.1)
• Automatic opening lid: press the button at the top of the handle. (fig 4)
• Lockable lid: turn the lid to the left to unlock it and lift it. (fig 5)
  To close the lid, press it down firmly or turn it to the right in the case of the lockable lid.

- Removable lid: do not use your kettle without its lid. In case the lid is lost or broken, please contact your after-sales service center. (fig 5.1)

2. PLACE THE BASE ON A FLAT, STABLE, HEAT-RESISTANT SURFACE AWAY FROM WATER SPLASHES AND ANY SOURCES OF HEAT.

- Kettle is only to be used with the stand provided.

3. FILL THE KETTLE WITH THE DESIRED AMOUNT OF WATER. (fig 6)

• You can fill it through the spout, which ensures better maintenance of the filter. (according to the model)
• Never fill the kettle when it is on its base.
• Do not fill it above the maximum level, or below the minimum level. If the kettle is too full, boiling water may spill out.
• Do not use without water.
• Check that the lid is closed properly before use.

4. POSITION THE KETTLE ON ITS BASE. PLUG IT INTO THE MAINS SOCKET.

5. FOR KETTLES THAT FEATURE A TEMPERATURE SWITCH

Select the temperature according to your needs:

Position 🎨 for boiling water or position 👍 for the ideal temperature for drinking immediately. (fig 7)

6. TO START THE KETTLE

Press the on/off button positioned on the top or the bottom of the handle according to the model. (fig 8)

7. FOR KETTLES THAT FEATURE A TEMPERATURE SWITCH

if you move quickly from position 👍 to position 🌐 after heating the water, the kettle has to reinitialise. If you think that this is taking a long time, you can add cold water to speed up the start of heating.

8. THE KETTLE MAY HAVE AN INTERNAL LIGHT, DEPENDING ON MODEL

9. THE KETTLE WILL SWITCH OFF AUTOMATICALLY

as soon as the water reaches boiling point or the chosen temperature. You can stop it manually, before removing it from its base to pour the water. Depending on the model, the interior light and the indicator light will go out when the water reaches boiling point. Make sure that the on/off button is in the off position after boiling and that the kettle has switched off before removing it from its base.

- Do not leave water in the kettle after use as this quickens the formation of scale.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

CLEANING YOUR KETTLE

Unplug it.

Let it cool down and clean it with a damp sponge.

• Never immerse the kettle, its base, the cord or the electric plug in water: the electrical connections or the switch must not come into contact with water.
• Do not use scouring pads.

CLEANING THE FILTER (ACCORDING TO THE MODEL) (fig 9)

The removable filter consists of a mesh to retain the particles of scale and prevent them falling into your cup when pouring. This filter neither treats nor removes the hardness of the water. It thus conserves all the qualities of the water. With very hard water, the filter can clog very quickly (10 to 15 uses). It is important to clean it regularly. If it is wet, put it under a running tap, if dry, then brush it gently. Sometimes the scale will not detach itself; it will then need descaling.

DE-SCALING

De-scale regularly, preferably at least once a month or more frequently if your water is very hard.

To de-scale your kettle:

• Using white vinegar:
- Fill the kettle with 12 l of vinegar,
– Leave to stand for 1 hour without heating.
• Using citric acid:
- Boil 12 I of water,
- Add 25 g of citric acid and leave to stand for 15 min.

• Using a de-scaler specifically for plastic kettles: follow the manufacturer's instructions.
• Empty your kettle and rinse 5 or 6 times. Repeat if necessary.

To de-scale your filter (according to model):

Soak the filter in white vinegar or diluted citric acid.

- Never use a de-scaling method other than that recommended.

IN THE EVENT OF PROBLEMS

THERE IS NO EVIDENT DAMAGE TO YOUR KETTLE

- The kettle does not work or stops before coming to the boil

– Check that your kettle is properly connected.
- The kettle has been switched on without water or an accumulation of scale has caused the overheat cut-out to operate: allow the kettle to cool and fill it with water. Descale first if scale has accumulated.

Switch it on: the kettle should start working again after about 15 minutes.

• The water tastes of plastic:

Generally, this happens when the kettle is new, discard the water from the first few boilings. If the problem persists, fill the kettle to maximum and add two teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda. Bring to the boil and discard the water. Rinse out the kettle.

IF YOUR KETTLE HAS BEEN DROPPED, IF IT LEAKS OR IF THERE IS VISIBLE DAMAGE TO THE POWER CORD, THE PLUG OR THE BASE OF THE KETTLE

Return your kettle to your After-Sales Service Centre, only they are authorised to carry out repairs. See the guarantee conditions and list of centres in the booklet supplied with your kettle. The type and serial number are shown on the bottom of your kettle. This guarantee covers manufacturing defects and domestic use only. Any breakage or damage resulting from failure to comply with the instructions for use is not covered by the guarantee.

• The manufacturer reserves the right to modify the characteristics or components of its kettles at any time in the interests of the consumer.
• Do not use the kettle. No attempt must be made to dismantle the kettle or its safety devices.
• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its after-sales service centre or a similarly qualified person, in order to avoid any danger.

PREVENTION OF DOMESTIC ACCIDENTS

For a child, a burn or scald, even if slight, can sometimes be serious.

As they grow up, teach your children to beware of hot liquids to be found in the kitchen. Position the kettle and its supply cord well to the rear of the work surface, out of the reach of children.

If an accident does occur, run cold water over the scald immediately and call a doctor if necessary.

- In order to avoid any accident: do not carry your child or baby at the same time as drinking or carrying a hot drink.
