General Safety

• Keep children and animals away from air conditioning units. Never leave them alone in a room where the units in use.
  This equipment should only be used by a competent person who has read and understood these instructions.
  Never operate this equipment if you are ill, feeling tired or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
• Keep the Air Conditioning vents clear of all obstructions.
  Never put anything on top of the unit or block the air outlets.
  Make sure equipment is switched off and unplugged after use.
  Never leave switched on or unattended.
  Check condition of equipment before use. If unit is showing signs of damage contact your supplier immediately.
  Do not add any chemicals, bleaches or agents to the water tank other than sterilising tablets.
  Do not place anything on top of the unit and don't obstruct the air vents.
  Do not remove or reposition the unit the unit with water in the tank.
  Do not remove any access panels when the unit is switched ON.
  Always operate, transport and store in an upright position.
  Always inspect the unit before use at regular intervals. If the unit is damaged, do not use it. Have all necessary repairs carried out by an authorised repair agent.
  When not in use, store the unit with all controls set to OFF and with the water tank fully drained, cleaned and sterilised.

Electrical Safety

This unit requires a 230 volt electrical supply. It plugs into a standard BS1363 domestic socket.
Always inspect plugs and leads for damage before plugging into the supply - DO NOT USE IF ANY DAMAGE IS FOUND
- Ensure cables are run as not to cause a hazard.
If an extension lead is used, ensure it is of the correct standard, and fully uncoiled when being used.
Do not lay electrical cables in wet / damp areas.
Do not move equipment whilst operating.
Do not pull equipment by its cable.
It is recommended that electrical equipment is used via a suitable RCD.

Cleaning and Maintenance

The Andrews Sykes range of evaporative air conditioners are designed to give many years of trouble free operation. It is however important that the simple regular maintenance described in this section is carried out.

Note: Isolate the unit from the power supply before carrying out any form of maintenance.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Clean side and back cooling pads and removed dust particles with a vacuum cleaner. Clean the outside body with a damp cloth.

At the end of each month

Place a sterilising tablet or a capful of sterilising liquid into a full reservoir and operate the pump to circulate the sterilised water through the whole system. Drain the water tank and clean any build up with a damp cloth.

At the end of summer season

Before storing the unit, drain the water tank and wipe down with a sterilising agent. Remove the cooling pads and wash using a gentle spray. Then allow them to completely dry before replacing.

Caution - check voltage

Check the voltage of the cooler before plugging in to power outlet. Use only the rated voltage on the rating plate on the rear of cooler.

Riling with water

Turn the cooler off and disconnect from the electrical supply before filling. The water inlet door is opened by pulling it at the top and fill the appliance with clean water. The water capacity is 18 litres. The minimum amount of water needed for the pump to operate is 4 litres. Try to position the cooler where you wish to use it before you fill to avoid unnecessary spillage. Do not overfill as water will spin out of the cooler. The cooler is full when the water level meter Indicated the highest reading. Close the water inlet door after filling.

How to get the best cooling performance

Place the cooler with its back near an open window or door so it can draw 100% fresh air. Open another window or door on the opposite side of the room for 'flow through' ventilation. This cooler will not cool properly in a closed room.

Safety Instructions

As this cooler contains water, ensure it is moved carefully and is not tilted as water may spill. Always switch off and remove the plug before servicing the cooler. Do not store anything on top of the cooler.

Air Direction Control

Adjust the air guide vane levers as required. They are located at the top of the front grille.

Cooling

When this appliance is used as an air cooler it should be filled with water and the 'cool' knob turned to the 'ON' position.

Fan Speed

Set the fan knob to the required position. Low Fan Speed '1' is selected for quieter conditions.

Fan Only (ventilation)

The cooler may be used as a fan only. This is set by turning the 'cool' (cooling) knob to the 'off' positions.

Conditions of Aspen filter pads

We recommend that when the cooler is first used it should be run with the Air set on No. 3 and the Cool on for 10 minutes, this will condition the new filter pads.
