Frequently Asked Questions - ZI-ZSM600 Zipper

What is the intended use of the Zipper ZI-ZSM600?
The machine is designed exclusively for wet cutting of cellular concrete blocks, bricks, and concrete blocks within technical limits. Any other use, such as dry cutting or cutting metal, is prohibited and voids the warranty.
What safety precautions should I take before operating?
Always wear protective equipment (eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves for tool handling). Check that all guards are in place, the emergency stop works, and the saw blade is undamaged. Ensure the area is clean and well-lit. Do not operate if tired or under influence.
How does the water cooling system work?
The machine has an integrated water pump with an ON/OFF switch and an adjustable flow valve. Fill the water basin so the filter is covered. The saw blade must be cooled with water on both sides during the entire cutting process to prevent overheating. Run the pump before starting cutting.
What should I do if the saw blade rotates in the wrong direction?
If the rotation direction does not match the arrow on the blade, swap two conductive phases (e.g., L1 and L2) at the connection plug. Ensure the machine is disconnected before doing this.
How do I change the saw blade?
Disconnect power. Remove the saw blade guard (three star screws). Loosen the nut (left-hand thread!) with an open-end wrench. Remove outer flange and old blade. Install new blade with correct rotation direction, reassemble outer flange and nut, and reinstall guard. Always wear protective gloves.
Why is the water pump not delivering water?
Check that the water basin has enough water to cover the filter. Inspect the filter for clogging and clean if necessary. Ensure the water hose is not kinked and the valve is open. Also verify the pump is switched on.
What are the electrical requirements?
The machine requires a 400 V, 3-phase, 50 Hz supply with neutral and protective earth (5-wire connection). Use a CEE plug with appropriate coupling. The supply must be protected by a residual current circuit breaker. Permissible voltage deviation: ±5%.
How often should I perform maintenance?
Before each use: check saw blade. After use: clean machine, rinse water pump, drain water basin, clean filter. Weekly: check locking screw for tightness, clean/lubricate guide rails. Monthly: check nuts/bolts. Semiannually: check V-belt condition and tension.
Can I use the machine without water?
No. The machine is designed exclusively for wet cutting. Operating without water will overheat the saw blade, cause premature wear, and may damage the blade or machine. Always ensure sufficient water flow during cutting.
What should I do if the machine does not start?
First, check that the emergency stop button is not pressed (turn clockwise to release). Then inspect the cable connection and fuses on the main supply. Also verify that all three phases are present. If the problem persists, consult a qualified electrician.

Check the V-belt tension:

Use thumb pressure to check the flexibility of the V-belt.

If this is within approx. 10-15mm no action is necessary. If the flexibility is higher, the V-belt must be retightened (V-belt tensioning) or replaced.

Tensioning

  • Loosen the four screws (4) that fix the motor.
  • Push the motor in direction (+), to increase the V-belt tension.
    • Retighten the four screws (4).
  • Check V-belt tension.
  • If the belt tension is correct, reinstall the V-belt cover (1) and fix it with the screws (2, 3). Otherwise readjust the belt tension.

Change

  • Loosen the four screws (4).
  • Push the motor in direction (-), to decrease the V-belt tension.
  • Pull the old V-belts from the pulley and replace with new ones.
    • Tension the V-belts.
  • Check the V-belt tension.
  • If the belt tension is correct, reinstall the V-belt cover (1) and fix it with the screws (2, 3). Otherwise readjust the belt tension.

NOTICES: Always change both V-belts at the same time, never replace a single belt!
