Frequently Asked Questions - KCH1202 KRESS

How do I charge the battery pack?
To charge, plug the charger into an appropriate outlet. Insert the battery pack into the charger. The green light will flash to indicate charging has started. When the light stays green without flashing, the battery is fully charged. Unplug the charger and remove the battery pack.
What do the indicator lights mean?
The charger uses a green LED: flashing green means charging, steady green means fully charged. A red LED: flashing red indicates a hot or cold battery delay, steady red indicates a defective battery that cannot be charged.
Why is my battery not charging?
First, check if the battery pack is too hot or cold (above 40°C or below 0°C). If so, allow it to reach room temperature. Ensure the charger is plugged in and the battery is correctly inserted. If the problem persists, try a different battery pack. If the charger still shows a red light, the charger may need service.
Can I use batteries from other brands?
No. The charger is designed specifically for Kress Li-Ion battery packs. Using other batteries may cause damage or safety hazards.
What is the optimal temperature for charging?
For best results, charge the battery pack in an ambient temperature between 18°C and 24°C. Do not charge below 0°C or above 40°C to prevent battery damage.
How long does it take to fully charge the battery?
Charging time varies. A fully discharged battery typically takes 1 to 1.5 hours. If the battery is partially discharged or very cold, it may take longer.
Can the charger repair a weak battery?
Yes. When a weak battery is inserted, the charger automatically attempts to repair it. The green LED will flash for up to 30 minutes. If repair fails, the light turns red and the battery should be replaced.
How should I maintain the charger?
Always unplug the charger before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a dry cloth. Do not use water or chemical cleaners. Keep the charger slots free of foreign objects and store in a dry, frost-free place.
Can I leave the battery on the charger after it is fully charged?
Yes, the charger automatically stops charging once the battery is full. However, for optimum battery life, it is recommended to unplug the charger and remove the battery when charging is complete.
What should I do if the charger or cord is damaged?
Do not use a damaged charger. The supply cord must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person to avoid hazard. Contact an authorized service center.

CHARGING PROCEDURE

KRESS KCH1202 - CHARGING PROCEDURE - 1

NOTE: Before using the tool, read the instruction book carefully.

CHARGING INSTRUCTIONS

1. CHARGING YOUR BATTERY PACK

WARNING: The charger and battery pack are specifically designed to work together so do not attempt to use any other devices. Never insert or allow metallic objects into your charger or battery pack connections because an electrical failure and hazard will occur.

Your battery pack is UNCHARGED and you must charge once before use.

3. HOW TO CHARGE YOUR BATTERY CHARGING PROCEDURE

1) Plug the charger into an appropriate outlet.
2) Insert the battery pack into the charger, the green light flashes to indicate the charging process has started.
3) On completion of charge, the light will stay green without flashing. The pack is now fully charged, unplug the charger and remove the battery pack.

Warning: When battery charge runs out after continuously use or exposure to direct sunlight or heat, allow time for the tool to cool down before re-charging to achieve the full charge.

CHARGING INDICATOR

This charger is designed to detect some problems that can arise with battery packs. Indicator lights indicate problems (see table below). If this occurs, insert a new battery pack to determine if the charger is OK. If the new battery charges correctly, then the original pack is defective and should be returned to a service center or recycling service center. If the new battery pack displays the same problem as the original Battery Pack, have the charger tested at an authorized service center.

When the battery pack is too hot or cold (the Light will be red and flash), the charger will automatically enter into

charging waiting process, and suspend charging until the battery pack has reached the correct temperature. This feature ensures maximum battery life.

BATTERY PACK REPAIRING

When a defective or weak battery pack is inserted into the charger, the charger will firstly detect and then try to repair it. This process will last about 30 minutes (the Light will be green and flash). When the repair is finished, it will automatically enter into normal charging process (the Light will be green and flash). If the battery pack is not repaired after 30 minutes, the light will remain red which means that the battery is dead.

NOTE: Repaired battery packs are still usable but should not be expected to perform as much work as new battery packs.

IMPORTANT CHARGING NOTES:

  1. For a new battery or a battery that has been in storage for sometime, please recharge the battery before use. If you want to store the battery for a long time, please fully charge the battery pack to ensure maximum battery life.
  2. Longer life and better performance can be obtained if the battery pack is charged when the air temperature is between 18^ C and 24^ C. Do not charge the battery pack in air temperatures below 0^ C, or above 40^ C. This is important as it can prevent serious damage to the battery pack.
  3. Never freeze your charger or immerse charger in water or any other liquid.
  4. When the battery pack fails to produce sufficient power on jobs that were previously done easily, please recharge you battery, do not continue to use under this condition. You may charge a partially used pack whenever you desire with no adverse effect on the battery pack.

  5. When charging it is normal that the charger and battery pack may become warm to touch.

  6. If the battery pack does not charge properly:
    a. Check current at power outlet by plugging in another appliance.
    b. Plug and unplug to check whether the charger is ok
    c. Check whether the battery has been damaged
    d. Move the charger and battery pack to a location where the surrounding air temperature is approximately 18^ C -24^ C.
    e. If the charging problem persists, take the tool, battery pack and charger to an authorized service center.
    f. Under certain conditions, when the charger is plugged into the power supply, the exposed charging contacts inside the charger can be shorted by foreign material. Foreign materials of a conductive nature such as metallic particles should be kept away from charger cavities. Always unplug the charger from the power supply when there is no battery pack in the charger or before attempting to clean.

4. TO REMOVE OR INSTALL BATTERY PACK

Locate latches on side of battery pack and depress both sides to release battery pack from your tool. Remove battery pack from your tool. After recharge insert the battery pack into the battery port. A simple push and slight pressure will be sufficient.

PROBLEM SOLUTION

I CANNOT FIT THE BATTERY INTO THE BATTERY CHARGER. WHY?

a) Check if the charger and the battery pack are specifically designed for working together.
b) The battery can be inserted into the charger only in one direction. Turn the battery around until it can be inserted

into the slot, the indicator light should be green and flash when the battery is charging.

REASONS FOR DIFFERENT CHARGING TIMES

The charging time can be affected by many reasons which are not defects in your product.

a) If the battery pack is only partly discharged it may be re-charged in less than 1 hour.
b) If the battery pack and ambient temperature are very cold then re-charging may take 1-1.5 hours.
c) If the battery pack is very hot it will not re-charge because the internal temperature safety cutout will prevent it. If the battery pack is very hot you must remove your battery pack from the charger and allow your battery pack to cool first to ambient temperature and then recharging can be started.

12 MAINTENANCE

EN

Remove the plug from the socket before carrying out any adjustment, servicing or maintenance.

Your tool requires no additional lubrication or maintenance. Never use water or chemical cleaners to clean your tool. Wipe clean with a dry cloth. Always store your tool in a dry place.
