What should I do if the shredder stops during use?

Wait 30 minutes for the motor to cool down, as the shredder has a thermal overload protection. Unplug, check for jam, and empty the bin if full.

How many sheets can I shred at once?

The Fellowes Powershred P-38 can shred up to 8 sheets of A4 70g paper per pass. Heavier paper or higher humidity may reduce capacity.

Can I shred credit cards?

Yes, the shredder can shred plastic credit cards, but limit to 5 per day. Do not shred CDs, DVDs, or other plastics.

How do I clear a paper jam?

Set the switch to Reverse (R) for 2-3 seconds, then alternate between Reverse and Auto-On slowly. If still jammed, unplug and gently pull uncut paper from the entry.

What type of lubricant should I use?

Do not use aerosol or petroleum-based lubricants. Only use shredder oil specifically designed for shredders, applied sparingly.

Why won't the shredder start?

Check that the switch is in Auto-On position, the safety lock is unlocked, the head is properly seated on the bin, and there is no jam. Also ensure the bin is not full.

Can I shred staples and paper clips?

The shredder can shred staples but not paper clips. Remove paper clips before shredding to avoid damage.

The recommended maximum is 100 sheets and 5 credit cards per day. Exceeding this may cause overheating.

• Keep away from children and pets. Keep hands away from paper entry. Always set to off or unplug when not in use.
• Keep foreign objects — gloves, jewelry, clothing, hair, etc. — away from shredder openings. If object enters top opening, switch to Reverse (R) to back out object.
• DO NOT use aerosol products, petroleum based or aerosol lubricants on or near shredder. DO NOT USE "CANNED AIR" OR "AIR DUSTERS" ON SHREDDER. Vapors from propellants and petroleum based lubricants may combust causing serious injury.

• Do not use if damaged or defective. Do not disassemble shredder. Do not place near or over heat source or water.

• Avoid touching exposed cutting blades under shredder head.

• Shredder must be plugged into a wall outlet or socket of the voltage and amperage designated on the label. The outlet or socket must be installed near the equipment and easily accessible. Energy converters, transformers, or extension cords should not be used with this product.
• FIRE HAZARD – Do NOT shred greeting cards with sound chips or batteries.
• For indoor use only.
  • Unplug shredder before cleaning or servicing.

NOTE: Shredder runs briefly after each pass to clear entry. Continuous operation beyond 3 minutes will trigger a 30-minute cool down period.
