What type of water should I use in my Maxwell MW-3024 BN iron?

Use distilled or demineralized water to prevent scale buildup. Tap water is acceptable if it is not hard; for hard water, mix 50% tap with 50% distilled.

How do I descale the iron?

Fill the tank with a mixture of 1 part white vinegar to 2 parts water. Set the iron to steam max and let it steam for 5 minutes, then empty and rinse. Alternatively, use the self-cleaning function described in the manual.

Why is my iron not producing steam?

Ensure the water tank is filled, the temperature dial is set to a steam zone (above 2 dots), and the steam button is pressed. If still no steam, check for scale buildup and descale.

What does the self-cleaning function do?

The self-cleaning function flushes out scale and impurities from the steam chamber. To use, fill the tank, set temperature to max, wait for the iron to heat up, then hold it over a sink and press the self-clean button until steam and water come out.

How does the auto shut-off work?

The iron automatically turns off if left unattended. It shuts off after 30 seconds when horizontal (ironing position) and after 8 minutes when vertical (heel rest). To restart, simply move the iron.

Can I use the iron for vertical steaming?

Yes, the Maxwell MW-3024 BN features vertical steam for removing wrinkles from hanging garments, curtains, and upholstery. Keep the iron upright and press the steam burst button.

What should I do if water leaks from the soleplate?

Leakage may occur if the temperature is too low for steam. Set the dial to a higher temperature (at least 2 dots for steam). Also ensure the drip-stop feature is working; if persistent, descale or contact service.

How do I clean the soleplate?

Allow the iron to cool completely. Wipe the soleplate with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads. For stubborn residue, use a specialized iron soleplate cleaner.

What does the spray function do?

The spray function (press the spray button) mists water onto the fabric to help remove tough wrinkles. It works even without steam, as long as the tank has water.

Is the iron safe to leave on the ironing board?

Always use the heel rest to place the iron upright when not in use. Never leave the iron flat on the board. The auto shut-off feature provides additional safety, but always unplug after use.

SAFETY MEASURES

Before using the unit, read these instructions carefully. Keep these instructions for future reference.

Use the unit according to its intended purpose only, as it is stated in this user manual. Mishandling the unit can lead to its breakage and cause harm to the user or damage to his/her property.

• Before switching the unit on, make sure that your home mains voltage corresponds to the unit operating voltage.
• Power cord is equipped with “euro plug”; plug it into the socket with reliable grounding contact.
• To avoid fire do not use adapters for connecting the unit to the mains.
• To avoid power network overloading do not switch on several electrical appliances with high power consumption at one time.
• Use the iron only for the intended purposes specified in the instruction manual.
• Do not use the unit outdoors.
• Place the iron on a flat stable surface or use the ironing board.
  • Never leave the operating iron unattended.
  • Always unplug the unit if you do not use it.

• Always take the power plug out of the mains socket before filling the water tank with water.
• Water inlet lid should be closed during ironing.
- Do not fill the water tank with scented liquids, vinegar, starch solution, descaling reagents, chemicals etc.
- Avoid contact of open skin areas with hot surfaces of the iron or outgoing steam in order to avoid burns.
- Provide that the power cord is not hanging over the edge of the ironing board and make sure that it does not touch hot surfaces.
- Before plugging in or unplugging the iron, set the temperature control knob to the "OFF" position, and the continuous steam supply knob to the position « » (steam supply is off).
- Do not touch the power plug with wet hands.
- To unplug the unit always pull its plug, but not the power cord.
- To avoid electric shock do not immerse the unit into water or other liquids.
- Before taking the iron away, pour out the remaining water and let the unit cool down.
- Pour out the remaining water only after unplugging the iron.
- Do not use the iron if the power plug or the power cord is damaged or if there are any other damages in the unit.
- Do not use the iron after dropping it, in case of visible damage or leakage.
- In order to avoid electric shock do not dismantle the unit by yourself. If there are any damages in the unit apply to the authorized service center.
- For children safety reasons do not leave polyethylene bags, used as a packaging, unattended.
- Attention! Do not allow children to play with polyethylene bags or packaging film. Danger of suffocation!
• Never allow children to use the unit as a toy.
- Be especially careful if children or disabled persons are using the unit.
- This unit is not intended for usage by children or disabled persons unless they are given all the necessary and understandable instructions by a person who is responsible for their safety on safety measures and information about danger that can be caused by improper usage of the unit.
- Store the iron vertically in a dry cool place, out of the reach of children.

After unit transportation or storage at low temperature it is necessary to keep it for at least two hours at room temperature before switching on.

• Unpack the iron; remove the protection card (if any) from the iron soleplate (14).
  • Make sure that the voltage of the mains corresponds to the operating voltage of the iron.

Note:

- While the first switching on the iron heating element burns, therefore occurrence of a small amount of smoke or foreign smell is possible, it is normal.

WATER SELECTION

Use tap water to fill the tank. If tap water is hard, it is recommended to mix it with distilled water in proportion 1:1, if tap water is too hard, mix it with distilled water in proportion 1:2 or use distilled water only.

FILLING THE WATER TANK WITH WATER

Before filling the tank with water make sure that the unit is unplugged.

• Set the temperature control knob (10) to the «OFF» position, and the continuous steam supply knob (3) to the position «※» (steam supply is off).
• Open the water inlet lid (2).
• Fill the unit with water, using the beaker (15), then close the lid (2) tightly.

Note:

• Do not exceed the "MAX" mark (13).
• If you need to refill water during ironing, switch the iron off and unplug it.
• After you finish ironing, switch the unit off, wait until it cools down completely, then open the water inlet lid (2), turn over the iron and drain the remaining water.

IRONING TEMPERATURE

Before operating test the heated iron on a piece of cloth to be sure that iron soleplate (14) and the water tank (12) are clean.

• Always check the recommended iron temperature indicated on the tag before ironing.
- If there is no tag with recommendations for ironing, but you know the type of fabric, use

the following table to determine the proper temperature.

• This table is only valid for smooth materials. Other types of fabrics (crimped, raised etc.) should be ironed at low temperature.
• Sort items by ironing temperature first: synthetics with synthetics, wool with wool, cotton with cotton etc.
• The iron heats up faster than it cools down. For this reason it is recommended to begin ironing at low temperature (for instance, synthetic fabrics).
  • After that, start ironing at higher temperature (silk, wool). Cotton and linen items should be ironed last.
• If an item is made of mixed fabrics, the iron should be set to the lowest temperature (for instance, if an item is made from polyester and cotton, it should be ironed at temperature used for polyester ironing “•”).
• If you cannot define the fabric structure, find a place that is hidden while wearing and select the ironing temperature experimentally (always start with the lowest temperature and raise it gradually until you get the desired result).
• Corduroy and other fabrics that become glossy quickly should be ironed strictly in one direction (in direction of the pile) with little pressure.
  • To avoid appearance of glossy spots on synthetic and silk fabrics, iron them backside.

SETTING THE IRONING TEMPERATURE

- Place the iron on its base (9).

ENGLISH

• Insert the power plug into the mains socket.
• Turn the temperature control knob (10) to set the required ironing temperature: “•”, “••”, “•••” or “MAX” (depending on the type of fabric), the pilot lamp (6) will light up.
• When the soleplate temperature (14) reaches the set value, the pilot lamp (6) will go out, you can start ironing.

DRY IRONING

• Set the continuous steam supply knob (3) to the position « » (steam supply is off).
• Place the iron on its base (9).
• Insert the power plug into the mains socket.
• Turn the temperature control knob (10) to set the required ironing temperature: “•”, “••”, “•••” or “MAX” (depending on the type of fabric), the pilot lamp (6) will light up.
• When the soleplate temperature (14) reaches the set value, the pilot lamp (6) will go out, you can start ironing.
• After you finish ironing set the temperature control knob to the "OFF" position.
• Pull the power plug out of the mains socket and let the iron cool down completely.

STEAM IRONING

The iron is provided with anti-drip valve, that stops water supply, if the soleplate temperature is too low, it prevents dripping from the soleplate openings (14). During heating and cooling of the iron soleplate you will hear characteristic clicks of the anti-drip valve opening/closing that indicates its normal operation.

• Place the iron on its base (9).
• Insert the power plug into the mains socket.
  • Make sure that there is enough water in the water tank (12).
• Turn the temperature control knob (10) to set the required ironing temperature: in the steam operation zone or «MAX» ( ·s·s ), the pilot lamp (6) will light up.
• When the soleplate temperature (14) reaches the set value, the pilot lamp (6) will go out, you can start ironing.
• Turn the continuous steam supply knob (3) to set the steam generation rate, steam will be releasing from the soleplate (14) openings.
• After you finish ironing set the temperature control knob (10) to the «OFF» position, and the continuous steam supply knob (3) to the position «×» (steam supply is off).

- Pull the power plug out of the mains socket and let the iron cool down completely.

Attention! If steam is not released constantly during the operation, check whether the steam supply knob (3) is set properly and whether there is water in the water tank.

BURST OF STEAM

Burst of steam function is useful when ironing of folds and can only be used at high ironing temperatures (when the iron temperature control knob (10) is set to « · · · » or « MAX»).

When pressing the burst of steam button (4) steam will be released from the soleplate.

Note:

- In order to avoid water leakage from steam openings, press the burst of steam button (4) with a 4-5 sec. interval.

VERTICAL STEAM

Vertical steam function can be used only at high ironing temperatures (that is, when the temperature control knob (10) is set to «···» and "MAX").

Hold the iron vertically at the distance of 15-30 cm from the clothes, press the burst of steam button (4) with a 4-5 seconds interval, steam will be released from the soleplate (14).

WATER SPRAY

• You can dampen the fabric by pressing the spray button (5) several times.
• Make sure that there is enough water in the water tank (12).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• Vertical steam is not recommended for synthetic fabrics.
• To avoid fabric burning, do not touch it with iron soleplate while steaming.
• Never steam clothes on a person as the steam temperature is very high, use clothes hanger or a stand.

AUTO SWITCH OFF FUNCTION

If the iron remains still for about 30 ( ±5 ) seconds in horizontal position or for about 8 minutes ( ±1 ) in vertical position, it is switched off automatically.

To switch the iron on again just start ironing.

Note:

After the iron is switched on the preset soleplate temperature will be restored after some time depending on the temperature control knob position.

STEAM CHAMBER CLEANING

To prolong service life of the iron we recommend to clean the steam chamber regularly, especially in the regions with hard tap water.

• Set the continuous steam supply knob (3) to the position « » (steam supply is off).
• Fill the water tank (12) till the "MAX" mark (13).
• Place the iron on its base (9).
• Insert the power plug into the mains socket.
• Set the control knob (10) to the maximum soleplate temperature «MAX», the pilot lamp (6) will light up.
• When the soleplate temperature (14) reaches the set value and the pilot lamp (6) goes out, you can start cleaning the steam chamber.
• Unplug the unit.
• Hold the iron above the sink horizontally, press and hold the self-clean button (11).
• Boiling water and steam with scale will be intensively released from the soleplate (14) openings.
• Slightly swing the iron back and forth, until all water leaves the water tank (12).
• Place the iron on the base and let it cool down completely.
• Once the soleplate (14) cools down completely, wipe it with a dry cloth.
• Before you take the iron away for storage, make sure that there is no water in the water tank (12) and that the soleplate (14) is dry.

CLEANING AND CARE

• Before cleaning the iron, make sure that it is unplugged and has cooled down completely.
• Clean the unit body with a damp cloth and then wipe dry.

• Scale on the iron soleplate can be removed with a cloth soaked in vinegar-water solution.
  • After removing scale, polish the soleplate surface with a dry cloth.

• Do not use abrasive substances to clean the iron soleplate and body.

• Avoid contact of iron soleplate with sharp metal objects.

STORAGE

• Set the temperature control knob (10) to the «OFF» position and the continuous steam supply knob (3) to the position «☒» (steam supply is off).
• Unplug the unit.
• Open the water inlet lid (2), turn over the iron and drain any remaining water from the water tank (12). Close the lid (2).
• Put the iron vertically and let it cool down completely.
  • Wind the power cord.
• Store the iron vertically in a dry cool place, out of the reach of children.
