Frequently Asked Questions - POCM80G Point

How do I descale my Point POCM80G coffee maker?
To descale, fill the water tank with a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar, run a brew cycle without coffee, then rinse with two cycles of fresh water. Repeat every 1-2 months depending on water hardness.
Why is my coffee weak or watery?
Weak coffee may be due to using too little coffee grounds, coarse grind, or not tamping if using a reusable filter. Ensure you use the recommended amount (1-2 tbsp per cup) and a medium grind size.
How do I clean the carafe and filter basket?
The carafe and filter basket are dishwasher safe. Alternatively, wash with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Avoid abrasive cleaners to prevent scratches.
What type of filter should I use?
Use a size #4 paper filter or the included permanent mesh filter. If using paper, rinse it with water before placing to remove paper taste.
How do I program the timer (if available)?
Press the 'Program' button, set the desired brew time using the hour and minute buttons, then press 'Set'. The clock must be set first. Refer to the manual for exact steps.
Why does the coffee maker stop brewing mid-cycle?
This may indicate a clogged filter or a need for descaling. Also check that the water tank is properly seated and the carafe is correctly positioned on the hot plate.
Can I use the coffee maker without a paper filter?
Yes, if you have the permanent mesh filter. Place it in the filter basket and add ground coffee. Clean it after each use.
How do I turn off the keep warm function?
The keep warm function automatically turns off after 2 hours. To manually turn off, press the 'Keep Warm' button if available, or switch off the machine and unplug.
What does the 'Clean' indicator mean?
The 'Clean' light indicates that the coffee maker needs descaling. Follow the descaling procedure to remove mineral buildup and restore performance.
Where can I find spare parts for the POCM80G?
Spare parts such as carafe, filter basket, and water tank lid can be ordered from the manufacturer's website or authorized retailers. Check the manual for part numbers.
