1) Read these operating instructions before using the appliance for the first time.
2) Keep these operating instructions in a safe place for future reference.

7) Ensure that the unit is connected to a DC 9V 1A power supply. Using higher voltage may cause the unit to malfunction. Switch off the unit before disconnecting it from the mains to turn it off completely.

10) Only use accessories and spare parts approved by the manufacturer.
11) Install the appliance according to the manufacturer's instructions.

14) When placing the unit, make sure that there is 30 cm to the rear and the top of the unit and 5 cm from each side.
15) Do not operate the unit's buttons with excessive force as this may cause damage.

POWER SUPPLY
This unit can be operated as follows:
DC operation:
Connect the included power supply (DC9V 1A) to the unit and your home power outlet.
Backup battery:
The unit has a battery compartment for two AA batteries on the bottom. This serves to store the time in case of a power failure or if the unit is disconnected from the mains when it is switched on again.
ATTENTION:
Please check at regular intervals whether the batteries are full to ensure the backup battery function. Inserted batteries or rechargeable batteries will not be charged.

BASIC OPERATION
Switching on the unit
- Switch on: Press the key [5] to switch on the unit.
- Switch off: Press key [5] to switch off the unit.
Remark:
- Before switching on the unit, please make sure that the unit is properly connected to the power supply.
Note:
The unit will automatically switch to standby mode if no audio signal is active in CD, AUX, Bluetooth or USB mode within 15 minutes.
Please note that a low volume setting on the unit may be detected as "no audio signal" and the unit will automatically switch to standby mode. To switch the unit back on, press the button [5].
Notes on electrostatic discharge
The unit may reset due to electrostatic discharge.
If the unit can no longer be operated, disconnect the unit from the mains for a few seconds and then restart the unit.
Volume: Adjusting the volume
Turn the [10] to increase or decrease the volume.
Setting the time
- To set the time, proceed as follows.
- Press and hold button [12] in standby mode.
-
Press the ▶ or ◀ buttons TUNE [16] to set the time display.
-
12 H = 12 hour display.
-
24H = 24 hours display.
-
Press the TIME SET MEMORY [12] button to confirm and enter the hour selection. The hour display flashes.
-
Press the or buttons [16] to set the hours.
- Press the MEMORY [12] button to confirm and enter the minutes selection. The minutes display flashes.
- Press the ▶ or ◀ buttons TUNE [16] to set the minutes.
- Press the MEMORY [12] button to confirm and complete the time setting.
Note:
- The time can only be set in standby mode.
- Make sure that two AA batteries are inserted in the Back Up battery compartment so that the time remains stored in the event of a power failure or disconnection from the mains when the unit is switched on again.
Setting the alarm clock
- To set the alarm clock, proceed as follows.
- Press and hold the remote control button in standby mode.

The hour display flashes in the display.
-
Press the following buttons TUNE- / TUNE+ to set the hours.
-
Press the remote control button ALARM to confirm the hours and switch to the minute selection. The minute display flashes.

Press the following buttons TUNE- / TUNE+ to set the minutes.
-
Press the remote control key ALARM to confirm the minutes and switch to source selection.

Press the following TUNE- / TUNE+ buttons to set the source. The following sources are available for selection.
-
BUZ = Beep tone
• TUN = The last radio station listened to -
CD = Starts with the first track of the CD.
-
Press the remote control button ALARM to confirm the source and complete the alarm setting.
Switching off the alarm tone
-
When the alarm sounds, you have two options to turn off the alarm sound.
-
Snooze function: Press the button SNOOZE to switch off the alarm tone and the alarm will sound again after 10 minutes.
- Turn off the alarm tone: Press the 🔊 or ALARM button to switch off the alarm tone.
Switching the alarm clock on / off
- Press the button ALARM in standby mode to switch the alarm clock "On" or "Off".
Note:
- If the alarm clock is set to "On", an alarm clock symbol appears in the display.
SLEEP Timer
- Press the remote control button SLEEP to switch the sleep timer on or off.
- When the sleep timer is on, a bed symbol appears in the display.
- The unit switches to standby mode after the set time has elapsed.
- The following settings are available for selection:
10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 / Off (Off) minutes.
FM MODE
- Press the button MODE [11] repeatedly until "FM" appears in the display.
- Use the or buttons [16] to adjust the frequency.
• / : Press briefly to adjust the frequency.
• / : Press and hold to automatically search for the next or previous radio station.
Note:
- To get the best FM reception, pull the [9] fully out. Avoid proximity to equipment that may interfere with reception such as speakers and TV sets.
Automatically save FM stations
- Press and hold button [15] for about 3 seconds to start the search.
- The unit searches for all available FM radio stations and stores them automatically.
- After the search, the unit starts playback with the first radio station.
Storing FM stations manually
- Select a radio station to be stored.
- Press and hold the key [12] for approx. 3 seconds. "P06", for example, flashes in the display.

Use the / [16] TUNE buttons to select the memory location (P01 - P20) and press the [12] button again to save the radio station.
-
Repeat process 1-3 until all desired radio stations are stored manually.
Note:
• The unit can store a maximum of 20 radio stations "P01 - P20".
Selecting stored FM radio stations
Press the ☐ [13] buttons to select the stored radio stations.
CD MODE
Starting CD playback
- Press button MODE [11] repeatedly until "CD" appears in the display.
- Open the CD compartment by pressing the button [17].
- "OP" appears in the display.
- Insert the CD into the CD compartment with the title side facing up.
- Press the button [17] to close the CD drive. "CL" appears in the display.
- The CD is now read in and then the total number of tracks is shown in the display.
- The unit automatically starts playing the first track of the CD.
- After all tracks have been played, the unit stops automatically and the total number of tracks is shown again on the display.

Set the playback mode:
- Press the remote control button to set the playback mode.
- The playback mode is shown in the display.

REP: Only the current track is repeated.
• REP ALL: All tracks are repeated.
• RAND: Random playback
CD playback Programming
- Stop the CD playback with the /PAIR [14] button.
- Press the TIME SET MEMORY [12] button. "P01" flashes in the display.
- Select the desired track with the ▶/◀[16] TUNE button and press the TIME SET MEMORY [12] button again to save the track under "P01".
- "P02" now flashes in the display.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 to programme more titles for playback.
- After programming all the titles you want, press button [15] and the unit will play the programmed titles. "MEM" is shown in the display.
- To stop the programmed playback, press button /PAIR [14] once and the playback stops. Press button /PAIR [14] again and "MEM" playback is finished.
Note:
- Audio CD: A maximum of 20 tracks can be programmed ("P01 - P20").
- MP3 CD: A maximum of 99 tracks can be programmed ("P01 - P99").
- The following CD types are supported CD, CD-R/RW, MP3/CD.
Care of the CD disc
- Do not touch the playback side of the CD.
- Do not stick paper, tape or any other material on the CD.
- Fingerprints and dust on the disc will cause deterioration of playback. Wipe the disc from the centre outwards with a soft cloth. Always keep the disc clean.
- If dust or stains cannot be removed with a soft cloth, wipe the disc with a slightly damp soft cloth and then wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
- DO NOT use solvents, commercial cleaners or anti-static sprays for vinyl as these may damage the disc.
- Do not store CDs in places exposed to direct sunlight or near a heat source.
- Do not store CDs in locations exposed to moisture or dust, such as in a bathroom or near a humidifier.
• Always store CDs vertically in a case.
USB MODE
- Press the button MODE [11] repeatedly until "USB" appears in the display.
- Insert a USB stick into the connection [8].
- The USB stick is now read in and the total number of titles is shown in the display.
- The unit automatically starts playing the first track from the USB stick.
- When all the tracks have been played, the unit will stop automatically and the total number of tracks will be shown on the display again.

USB playback Programming
- Stop USB playback with the /PAIR [14] button.
- Press the TIME SET MEMORY [12] button. "P01" flashes in the display.
- Select the desired track with the ▶ / ◀ [16] TUNE buttons and press the TIME SET IN [12] button again to save the track under "P01".
- "P02" now flashes in the display.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 to programme more titles for playback.
- After programming all the titles you want, press button [15] and the unit will play the programmed titles. "MEM" is shown in the display.
- To stop the programmed playback, press button /PAIR [14] once and the playback stops. Press the /PAIR [14] button again and "MEM" playback is finished.
NOTE:
• A maximum of 99 tracks can be programmed ("P01 - P99").
- USB sticks are supported up to a maximum of 32GB.
AUX IN MODE
- You can play music from any external audio device (with a 3.5mm stereo jack) with the HIF79FM unit.
- To do this, connect the HIF79FM to your external audio device using a 3.5mm audio cable (not included).
- Plug the audio cable into the jack AUX-IN [2] of the HIF79FM and into the line out jack or headphone jack of your external audio device (e.g. smartphone, MP3 player).
- Press the button MODE [11] until "AUX" is shown in the display.
- You control the playback on your external audio device.
- Control the volume on the HIF79FM unit with the slider . VOLUME
BLUETOOTH MODE

Press the button MODE [11] repeatedly until "BT" appears in the display.

Not connected: Bluetooth symbol flashes in the display.
-
Connected: The Bluetooth symbol lights up in the display.

Start the Bluetooth search on your external Bluetooth device and select "HIF79FM" from the list of devices found.

Start playback on your external Bluetooth device to play music from on the HIF79FM.

Note:
- Bluetooth works best in the open up to approx. 15m.

WARRANTY

Dear Customer,
Thank you for choosing one of our products. Our products undergo precise quality control in the course of production. If one of our devices gives you cause for complaint, or you have questions about one of our devices, please call our customer support.
We give a 36 month warranty on TV and SAT devices, and a 24 month warranty on portable DVD and audio devices from the date of purchase. Outside of the warranty, we offer you a paid repair based on a cost estimate. Please contact our customer support before submitting.
The warranty relates to material and production defects. Your device will be repaired or replaced during the warranty period. Unfortunately, UltraMedia cannot reimburse the purchase price. Damage caused by improper use, the use of third-party accessories, falls, dust, water damage and signs of wear (e.g. scratches, optical wear and tear) caused by the customer or external influences are excluded from the guarantee.
In order to assert the warranty claims, send the device with all accessories, a copy of the invoice and the description of the fault to the address given below. Devices that do not have a proof of purchase cannot be guaranteed. Please do not forget to include your full address and a telephone number / email address for any queries.
Shipping to us takes place at your own expense. Unpaid parcels cannot be accepted and are returned to the sender.
Please pack the device securely for transport. UltraMedia assumes no liability for damage in transit that occurs on the way to us. After receiving your submission, we will process your device as soon as possible and send it back to you.
Before sending your device in, please contact our customer support or your specialist dealer, as many problems can also be solved over the phone.
