Please read this instruction manual carefully and familiarise yourself with your new steam iron, before using the first time. Please retain this manual for future reference.

IMPORTANT SAVEGUARDS

When using your iron, basic safety precautions should always be followed:

- Read all instructions.

- Use only iron for its intended use.

- To protect against a risk of electric shock, do not immerse the iron in water or any other liquids.

- The iron should always be turned to the lowest position before plugging or unplugging from outlet. Never yank cord to disconnect from outlet; instead, grasp plug and pull to disconnect.

- Do not allow cord to touch hot surface. Let iron cool completely before putting away. Loop cord loosely around iron when storing.

- Always disconnect iron from electrical outlet when filling with water or emptying and when not in use.

- Do not operate iron with a damaged cord or if the iron has been dropped or damaged. To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble the iron, take it to a qualified serviceman for examination and repair. Incorrect reassembly can cause a risk of electric shock when the iron is used.

- Close supervision is necessary for any appliance being used by or near children. Do not leave iron unattended while connected or on an ironing board.

- Burns can occur from touching hot metal parts, hot water or steam. Use caution when you turn a steam iron upside down there may be hot water in the reservoir.

- To avoid a circuit overload, do not operate another high voltage appliance on the same circuit.

- If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, a 15-ampere cord should be used. Cords rated for less amperage may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it cannot be pulled or tripped over.

- All repair work should be carried out by an approved service center.

- Make sure to unplug the appliance when leaving the iron.

- The iron must not be left unattended while it is connected to the supply mains; The plug must be removed from the socket-outlet before the water reservoir is filled with water.

- The iron must be used and rested on a stable surface;

- When placing the iron on its stand, ensure that the surface on which the stand is placed is stable;

- The iron is not to be used if it has been dropped, if there are visible signs of damage, or if it is leaking;

- Keep the iron and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years of age when it is energized or cooling down.

- This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. HINTS BEFORE USE

• Before using for the first time, check if the voltage rating on the baseplate corresponds to the mains voltage in your home.
• Some parts of iron has been slightly greased and as a result the iron might slightly smoke when switched on for the first time. After a short while, this will cease.
• Before using the first time remove any sticker or protective foil from the soleplate with a soft damp cloth.
• Keep the soleplate smooth; do not scratch against metal objects (e.g. rack of ironing board, buttons, zippers).
• Pure wollen fabrics (100%) may be pressed with the iron set to a steam position. Preferably select a high steam selector position and use a dry pressing cloth.

SETTING THE TEMPERATURE

• Always check first to see whether ironing instructions are attached to the article to be ironed. (They can be found on a label showing a drawing of an iron. The number of dots indicates the correct temperature. Refer to the indications on the temperature dial and in the table below). Follow these ironing instructions in all cases.
• If ironing instructions are missing but you do know the kind of fabric, then see the table below. The table is valid for the actual materials and do not concern any applied finish, gloss etc.

• Textile to which some kind of finish has been applied (gloss, wrinkle, relief etc.) can best be ironed at somewhat lower temperatures.

• If the fabric consists of various kinds of fibers, you must always select the lowest ironing temperature of the composition. (e.g. an article consisting of 60% polyester and 40% wool should be ironed at the temperature indicated for polyester and without steam).

• Sort the fabrics out according to ironing temperature first: wool with wool, cotton with cotton, etc. the iron heats up quicker than it cools down. Therefore, start ironing the articles requiring the lowest temperature such as those made of synthetic fibers. Then progress with the higher ones.

HOW TO FILL WITH WATER

• Make sure that the steam iron is unplugged from the electrical outlet.
• Make sure that the steam button + temperature button is in position MIN before filling with water.
• Fill water in the water tank through the water tank lid, until the water reached the max mark indicated on the side of the iron. Never fill above this mark.
• Pour out the remaining water after use.
• Do not use chemically descaled water.

DRY IRONING

• The iron can be used as a dry iron, even though there is water in the water tank. Avoid filling with water when using as a dry iron for a longer period.
• Use the same procedure as when steam ironing, but set the steam button at MIN position.

STEAM IRONING

• As indicated on the temperature control dial, steam ironing is only possible at higher temperature settings, otherwise water leak from soleplate will occur.
• Fill iron with water as described in "How To Fill With Water"
• Plug iron into electrical outlet. The red indicator lamp indicates that the iron is on and warm.
• The lamp will illuminate and go out regularly during ironing as a indication that the temperature is maintained. The steam will be released from the soleplate.

SPRAYING

• Be sure that there is water in the tank.
• Spray can be used on all settings.
• Press the trigger for spray function
• Repeat pumping is required to start this function.

CLEANING

While the soleplate is still just warm, clean it by rubbing it with a moist non-metallic pad.

To remove or clean starch or other materials from the ironing surface, apply a small amount of mild cleaner to a damp cloth forming a paste on the cloth.

Gently rub ironing surface of iron, then wipe with moist cloth. Never use metallic pads.

Make sure that the iron is completely cooled before cleaning starts.

CAUTION

Never use scouring pads, abrasive or harsh cleaners as this may scratch the surface.

EMPTYING AND STORING THE IRON

• The iron must be unplugged before emptying. Do not store the iron with water in the tank.
• Tip the iron over to allow the water to run out. Press the trigger a few times to ensure all the water is emptied out.
• Always store the iron standing on its heel, with the steam control knob in MIN position.

SEFL-CLEAN FUNCTION

Regularly clean the steam iron depending on the frequency of use and the local water quality. In case of rather hard water self-cleaning is recommended at least every two weeks.

1. Set the steam regulation button (a) to - (steam off).
2. Set the temperature regulating button (f) to the highest level.
3. Open the spout for water filling (j) and fill water up to the maximum filling mark into the water tank (g). Close the spout for water filling (j).
4. Connect the power plug of the iron to the wall socket.
5. Let the iron heat up until the temperature thermostatic lamp (d) goes out.
6. Disconnect the power plug.
7. Hold the iron horizontally across a sink.
8. Set the steam regulation button (a) to self clean, then pull out the steam regulation button (a). Boiling hot water and steam come out of the soleplate (h) washing out any lime scale. Sway the iron to and fro during this.
9. Set back the steam regulation button (a) to - (steam off).
10. Wipe the soleplate (h) on a (preferably) old piece of cloth. Connect the power plug to the wall socket again and let it heat up. Any residual water now evaporates through the soleplate (h).
11. Unplug the appliance and let it cool down before stowing it away.

Plug wiring:

This product is fitted with a BS 1363 13-amp plug. If you have to replace the fuse, only those that are ASTA or BSI approved to BS1362 and with a rated current of 13 amps should be used. If there is a fuse cover fitted, this cover must be refitted after changing the fuse.

If the fuse cover is lost or damaged, the plug must not be used. You must also check if the socket outlets in your home fit with the plug of the appliance. If the socket outlet in your home does not fit with the plug, the plug must be removed and disposed of safely as insertion of the plug into the socket is likely to cause electric hazard. A replacement plug should be wired according to following description.
