Antenna Installation Instructions

1. Outdoor Antenna Grounding

If an outside antenna or cable system is connected to the product be sure the antenna or cable system is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built-up static charges, Article 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, provides information with regard to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode.

2.Lightning

For added protection for this product during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage to the product due to lightning and power-line surges. Do not disconnect the antenna or the power cord during a heavy storm lighting may strike while you are holding the cable cord, causing serious injury; turn off your LCD TV and wait for the weather to improve.

3. Power Lines

An outside antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines or circuits. When installing an outside antenna system, extreme care should be taken to keep from touching such power lines or circuits as contact with them might be fatal.

Cleaning the LCD Display

  • Make sure the LCD TV is turned off.
  • Never spray or pour any Liquid directly onto the screen or case.

To clean the screen:

  1. Wipe the screen with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth. This removes dust and other particles.
  2. If still not clean, apply a small amount of non-ammonia, non-alcohol based glass cleaner onto a clean, soft, lint-free cloth, and wipe the screen.

To clean the case:

  1. Use a soft, dry cloth.
  2. If still not clean, apply a small amount of a non-ammonia, non-alcohol based, mild non-abrasive detergent onto a clean, soft, lint-free cloth, then wipe the surface.

Power : Press this button to turn on the TV or allow the TV to enter standby mode. It is located on the top middle corner of the TV. If the TV is in standby mode, the indicator at the front will illuminate amber.

Menu : Press this button to display or exit the OSD menu.

CH(▲▼): When the OSD menu appears, press these two buttons to select the item you want to execute; when no OSD menu appears, use to change channels in TV mode.

Vol(+ - ) : When the OSD menu appears, press these two buttons to confirm the selected item; when no OSD menu appears, use to adjust the volume.

There is a wide range of video and audio equipment that can be connected to your TV. The following connection diagrams show you how to connect them.

(1) Power: Plug one end of the power cord to the "AC Input" jack in the rear of the TV, and the other end to the 220V power socket.
(2)Power switch: on/off TV.
(3)SCART 2: CVBS+S-Video.
(4)SCART 1: CVBS+RGB.

Notes:

  1. Additional equipment and cables shown are not supplied with this TV set.
  2. The 21pin SCART socket can also be used as an output to Audio/Video equipment.
  3. Select the desired VIDEO source input position by pushing the TV/VIDEO button on remote controller.
  4. In TV mode, when you switch on the VIDEO source which is connected to SCART socket, the TV should automatically display the video signal. If it does not, press the TV/VIDEO button on remote controller in order to select the appropriate source.
  5. The AUDIO OUT (SCART) terminal provides a fixed level output only. (The menu settings and remote control volume controls have no effect.)

(5) HDTV: Connect the component signal source of audio and video (DVD player, Laser Disc player, videocassette recorder or camcorder) to the Component Input port. The following will illustrate how to set a DVD player outputting component signal. (1) How to connect:

  1. Use three component signal cables ① to connect the high definition signal Y, Pb, Pr or the component signal Y, Cb, Cr the DVD player outputs to the high definition signal Y, Pb, Pr Input of the TV.

  1. Use the audio cable ② to connect the audio output of the DVD player to the TV's Component Input.

(2) How to use:

  1. Select high definition signal (HDTV) input.
  2. Turn on the DVD player, then press the PLAY button.

(6)Audio 2 in: Connect the audio signal source (PC, DVD player, Laser Disc player, videocassette recorder or camcorder) to the video.
(7) Video in: Connect the video signal source (PC, DVD player, Laser Disc player, videocassette recorder or camcorder) to the audio Input ports (left and right). (HDTV and AV2 in share this audio )
(8)Audio output: User can use this connector to output other audio dives.
(9)Analog RF Tuner: Connect the antenna or CATV cable to this 75 coaxial cable input.
(10)Digital RF Tuner: Connect the antenna cable of digital signal.
(11)Audio: Input the audio signal from a PC through this interface.
(12)VGA: Use the VGA signal cable to connect signals from a PC to the TV Input.

Note: For the connection between the PC and the TV, (see Figure 1) below.

(1) How to connect to the PC mainframe:

VGA interface - Connect the VGA signal cable supplied with the TV to the D-sub interface at the rear of the TV as in. (Figure 1)

Digital interface – Connect the DVI signal cable to the digital interface at the rear of the TV as in. (Figure 1)

(2) How to connect the audio cable:

Connect the PC audio cable supplied with the TV to the TV's PC Audio Input as in. (Figure 1)

Note: If no signal is present on the VGA or DVI screen, the TV will enter into standby mode automatically after 1 minute.

(13)HDMI: HDMI is the leading new standard for Digital video and audio interconnection. To the HDMI connector you can connect HDMI devices such as a Set Top Box or compatible DVD-R or DVD player with HDMI export, or DVI-equipped devices like a computer. So you can display high-definition pictures on this TV in the digital form.

  1. Connect one HDMI to the "HDMI" port and connect the other HDMI to device with HDMI export as left figure Select the T-Line button

Notes:

  1. Your TV supports HDCP(High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection). This is a system for protecting DVD content outputted via DVI from being copied. It provides a secure digital link between a video source (DVD, PC, etc.) and your TV. Content is encrypted at the source device to prevent unauthorized copies from being made.
    2.Digital devices from different manufacturers have the possibility of differing output standards which may cause difficulties for the television to properly display.
  2. In case no signal is detected from your HDMI device, turn off the HDMI device and then on again.
  3. To get an optimal viewing, it is advised to turn your DVD player to one of the following TV display standards: 1280x720p 50hz.
    (14)CA Card slot: Use for Digital pay card and updated firmware.
    (15)S-Video Input: Connect the S-Video cable to DVD player, Laser Disc player, videocassette recorder or camcorder.
    (16)Video Input: Connect the video signal source. (PC, DVD player, Laser Disc player, videocassette recorder or camcorder) (The audio is for S-Video and Video 1)
    (17)Audio Input: Connect the audio signal source. (PC, DVD player, Laser Disc player, videocassette recorder or camcorder) to the Audio Input ports.

(18)Ear phone: User can plug ear phone jack in this connector.

  1. When headphones are connected, the sound of TV set will be cut. The VOL keys are used to adjust the volume level.
  2. Press the key on the remote control to switch off the sound from the headphone. Note: When a TV channel or external AV source is blocked because of a rating set via the Parental control menu, also the headphone is muted.

Preparation

1. Please put your TV on a surface place.

Ensure that the TV is placed in an adequately ventilated location, and do not block any of the ventilation openings on the back cover.

Do not place open flames (such as burning candles) near the TV.

Avoid high temperatures, direct sunlight and exposure to rain. Do not spray or splash liquids on the TV.

Note: If you want to wall mount the TV, for the safe of you and the appliance, please use the original hanging brackets and have it installed by qualified service personnel.

2. Power Connection

Plug one end of the power cord to the "AC Input" jack in the rear of the TV, and the other end to the 220V power socket.

If you have not turned off the power and leave TV in standby mode, the TV will continue to consume a residual amount of power.

When unused for long periods of time, it is best to turn off the power switch on the side of the TV and unplug the power cord from the socket.

3. Insert the aerial plug

Firmly into the aerial socket ANT IN 75 at the back of the TV.

4. Power:

Insert the power cord in the wall socket having an AC power supply.

5. Turn the TV on:

Press the power button of the TV to turn it on. When the TV is ON, the indicator turns Blue.

If the TV is in power off, the indicator in front of the TV illuminates amber.

Remote Control

POWER:

Press to turn on/off the TV. The TV is never completely powered off unless it is physically unplugged.

VIDEO

Press this key you could select AV1, AV2, S-VIDEO, HDTV and HDMI.

SCART

Press this key you could select SCART 1, SCART2-AV, and SCART 2-S.

SLEEP

With this key you can set a time period after which the TV should switch itself to standby. Press the key repeatedly to select the number of minutes. The counter runs from 0, 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes. The timer begins to count down from the number of minutes selected after the display has disappeared.

CH

Press or (or MENU / button) buttons to scroll through the channels.

TELETEXT

Teletext is an information service organized like a magazine, which is provided by some TV stations in addition to regular television broadcasting.

TELETEXT

Press TELETEXT. The Teletext screen appears. To turn off the Teletext mode, press TELETEXT again.

MIX

Press MIX to superimpose the Teletext over a normal broadcast picture. Press again to return to Teletext mode.

SIZE

Press SIZE repeatedly to display the upper Teletext part, the lower Teletext part and then to return to the normal.

RED / GREEN / YELLOW / BLUE

Use the COLOURED BUTTONS to operate the Teletext screen.

i INFO

Press i-INFO to show DTV information.

INDEX

Press INDEX to return to the main index page.

SUBTITLE

Press SUBTITLE to select the next page marked as a subtitle page and request it as the display page.

HOLD

Press HOLD to hold the Teletext page when viewing information. Press again to return to automatic page update.

REVEAL

Press REVEAL to display reveal hidden words e.g. quiz page answers. Press again to hide.

PAGE SELECTION

Page can be selected in two ways.

a. Press or to increase or decrease the page number by one.
b. By entering the page number, using digit buttons 0~9.

SUBPAGE ACCESS

When Teletext information exceeds more than one page, press SUBPAGE first then select the required page number using digit buttons 0~9.

  1. Open the remote control's rear battery compartment cover.
  2. Insert two AA (1.5v) batteries. Ensure that the positive and negative ends match as indicated on the bottom of the battery compartment.

To use the menus

Press the MENU button to display the Main menu. It offers the following options: Picture adjustments, Audio adjustments, PIP/POP adjustments, TV channels search menu (only in TV mode) and PC adjustments (only in PC mode). It also allows to define your preferences in the Setup menu.

Dual Mode: Using / buttons activate (PIP/POP) or deactivate (Off) the PIP/POP function.

Following options are available if you have selected PIP or POP at the PIP line.

Position: use the / buttons to change the position of the PIP frame on the screen.

Source: to select video source of the PIP/POP, use the / buttons to select video source of the picture in the PIP/POP frame (TV or AV).

You can insert a TV picture while you are viewing an AV program or insert an AV picture while you are viewing a TV program.

Video source can also be selected without the menu, using AV button on the remote control.

Audio select: to select audio source: MAIN (Main picture) or SUB (PIP/POP picture), use the / buttons to select audio source.

Press the EXIT button to exit the PIP menu.

Options

This menu allows to select the language for the menus as well as the colour of the screen when there is no video input. It also allows to set an automatic shut-off time.

Menu language: To select the language for the menu. Total have English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Swedish, Finnish and Dutch.

Menu timeout: To set an automatic shut-off time for Menu. Using / buttons select 5 > 10 > 20 > 30 > 40 > 50 seconds.

Menu background: Select Opaque or Transparent type.

Sleep Timer: To set an automatic shut-off time. Using / buttons select Off > 15 > 30 > 45 > 60 > 90 > 120 minutes.

Once the time is ended, TV set automatically switch on standby mode.

If you turn the TV on standby mode after setting the sleep timer, setting will be erased. Set it again.

Note: You can display the remaining time before the automatic shut-off. To do that, press the sleep button.

To cancel the automatic shut-off, press several times the sleep button to display Sleep timer Off.

Blue Screen: To have a blue screen when there is no video input.

Using the / buttons select On.

Select Off if you do not want the blue screen.

Teletext Language: Using / buttons, select the character set that will be used for Teletext on this channel.

The following character sets are available: West Europe, East Europe, Cyrillic (Russia), Greek, Arabic, Persian.

The character set determines how characters are displayed on Teletext screen.

PC Timing: Select PC Timing to 1360x768 or 1280x768.

Reset: Reset to default, except the OSD language, video and audio adjustment by personal.

Press the EXIT button to exit the Options menu.

TV Set Up

Channels search involves selecting all the settings required to be able to search for and store all the channels you can receive.

Store prog.: Allows to Save a channel on a new Program No. or to Insert a channel on an already existing Program No. (The channel previously saved on this program No. will be shifted to the upper program.).

Once a channel has been found and named, use the button to select the Store prog. option.

Using the / buttons, select Save or Insert and press the OK button to confirm.

System: Allows to change the audio norm.

Using the button, select the System option.

Using the / buttons, select the norm.

The audio norm change will also change broadcasting system. Not suggest to change the audio norm if you are not sure the audio system.

Skip: Allows to skip a channel.

Using the button, select the Skip option.

Using the / buttons, select On, the channel will be skip.

Repeat this procedure to skip other channels.

Fine tuning: If the picture is not clear, you can adjust the setting.

Using the button, select the Fine Tuning option.

Use the / buttons to find the good tuning point.

Manual search: Allows to launch a manual search.

Using the button, select the Manual search option.

Using the / buttons, start the search in decreasing or increasing order.

The menu is replaced by a sub-menu showing the progression of the search.

The search will stop at the first channel found, Manual search menu is displayed again (within 3 seconds).

If you wish to memorize the channel, select Store Program option using button and proceed as indicated in previous page. Otherwise, continue the search using < /> buttons.

If you have modified System, Skip, Fine tuning options or if you have launch a Manual Search, select Store Prog. option using A / V buttons and proceed as indicated above to save your modification.

Press the EXIT button to exit the TV set up menu.

Digital OSD Functions

This product has Digital TV of UK/Pan Europe DVB-T, The use Pay Per View services. For details, refer to the instruction manual supplied with your CAM. To use the CAM, press the eject button and remove the "dummy" card. When you do not use the CAM, we recommend that the "dummy" card be inserted and kept in the CAM slot.

The following is Digital TV OSD menu. And if you don't know how to use all OSD function, you can press i button in Remote control for more detail instruction.

First-Time Installation

When the system is first switched on, the Reference Application attempts to configure itself for the first time. This is called "First Time Installation".

The user is then asked if they wish to perform an automatic tune for services. Automatic tuning functionality is described later in this document. When the automatic tune finishes and services have been found, the lowest number service is selected and a banner describing that service is shown. A user may have chosen not to perform an automatic tune or no services may have been found by an automatic scan. In this instance the user may use the "Main Menu" to automatically scan again or perform a manual scan. The Reference Application also provides the facility for the user to force to trigger a "First Time Installation". This facility can be found in the "Main Menu" under the "Installation" option.

A "Main Menu" is provided to enable the user to configure elements of the Reference Application. In "normal viewing" operation a user can access the "Main Menu" by pressing the "DTVMENU" key. The "Main Menu" is hierarchically organized into categories in order to fit on the screen.

Channel List

A user may configure the Reference Application to use exclusively TV, Radio or Data services, this feature is know as channel List Model.

A user can select a channel List Mode using the configuration dialog, it is permitted to select a channel List Mode that contains no services.

When the channel list mode is enabled the program up and down buttons on the remote control will only select those services in the current channel List Mode. And all EPGs will only show those services in the current Channel List Mode. It is still possible to select a service using the service's even if it is not a member of the currently selected channel List Mode. Note that if the user has selected a favourites list then the Channel List Mode acts as a filter on top of the selected favourites list.

Please press the SELECT button on your remote control to tune to the highlighted channel. Press MENU to exit this screen.

Edit Favourites Lists

A favourites list enables the user to select a subset of services they consider favourite. The Reference Application allows the user to have up to five different favourites lists. Favourites lists are defined in the favourites dialog that can be accessed by selecting the favourites button on the channel list dialog and via the Main Menu.

Press the SELECT button on your remote control to add the channel to the highlighted favourites list. An icon indicates which favourites list a channel is in.

Now/Next EPG

An EPG dialog is provided that allows the user to view the current and next programme playing on each service.

In this dialog a list of channels and the corresponding current and next programmes is displayed. The user can navigate up and down the list of channels and highlight either the now or next programme. Information for the highlighted programmes can be displayed by pressing "Info". This information includes the start/end time of the programme, the programme genre in brackets, and a synopsis of the programme content.

A user may select a service by highlighting a program in the 'now' list and pressing the "SELECT" key.

Pressing the "SUBTITLE" key the user may select a genre to highlight events with the selected genre in the EPG.

The Now/Next Electronic Program Guide cannot be accessed if there are no services available.

If you don't know how to use above function, you can select i info button in remote control for get information, press i info button again will exit.

Language Settings

System: To change the system languages, this changes the language used in all menus and dialogs.

Noted : Pan Europe system language include: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Finish, Portuguese, Polish and Dutch.

Audio: Displays a dialog enabling the preferred language to be set, this is the language to be used for all channels if it is available.

Subtitle: Displays a dialog enabling the preferred language to be set, this is the language to be used for all channels if it is available.

Current: Displays a dialog enabling the current language to be set, this is the language to be used for the current selected channel, please note that only languages available with the currently selected channel will be displayed.

First Time Installation

Automatic search is the ability for the reference application to scan each other (Frequency) for services.

Whilst performing an automatic tune no service will be selected. A dialog is displayed during automatic tuning that shows the progress of the scan through the channels.

Automatic tuning may be cancelled by the user. If the previous list already stored, the lowest number from the service list, it will return to "normal viewing" operation.

The Reference Application can support up to 70 services at any one time.

When you select Automatic search, press OK button in remote control, and will start to automatic search.

Manual search allows the user to scan an individual channel (frequency) for services. The user can perform a manual tune by selecting an option on the "Main Menu". Whilst performing a manual tune no service will be selected. The user enters the channel number to be scanned; only those channels supported by the tuner may be entered.

The Manual tuning dialog displays a bar indicating the quality and strength of the signal of the currently selected channel. The user can then choose to scan the selected channel for services; a separate dialog is displayed showing the service found whilst scanning is taking place. Newly discovered services are merged with the current list of services. Manual tuning may be cancelled by the user, in such cases any newly discovered services are disregarded.

When a manual tune is complete the application will attempt to select the previously selected service and return to "normal viewing" operation. In cases were there was not a previously selected service the application will attempt to select the service with the lowest number.

The Reference Application can support up to 70 services at any one time.

Press 0 to 9 to select a channel number, select to start searching for channels, MENU to exit this screen.

First time installation

Choose this will return to the original condition, you can choose country as first time in installation. And search channel again. When you select it, you will see as following:

Display Protection

To avoid permanent damage to the screen, do not use anything abrasive to scratch the display.

Unplug the appliance before you clean the screen. Use a clean, soft cloth to wipe the screen and the enclosure to remove the dust from the TV. If you want the screen to be cleaner, you can use a clean, wet cloth to wipe. A cleanser especially designed for LCD screens is recommended. Do not use liquid or spray cleaner.

Limited Warranty VIEWSONIC LCD TV

What the warranty covers:

ViewSonic warrants its products to be free from defects in material and workmanship, under normal use, during the warranty period. If a product proves to be defective in material or workmanship during the warranty period, ViewSonic will at its sole option repair or replace the product with a like product. Replacement product or parts may include remanufactured or refurbished parts or components.

How long the warranty is effective:

ViewSonic LCD TVs are warranted for one (1) year for all parts excluding the light source and one (1) year for labor from the date of the first customer purchase.

Who the warranty protects:

This warranty is valid only for the first consumer purchaser.

  1. Any product on which the serial number has been defaced, modified or removed.
  2. Damage, deterioration or malfunction resulting from:

a. Accident, misuse, neglect, fire, water, lightning, or other acts of nature, unauthorized product modification, or failure to follow instructions supplied with the product.
b. Repair or attempted repair by anyone not authorized by ViewSonic.
c. Any damage of the product due to shipment.
d. Removal or installation of the product.
e. Causes external to the product, such as electric power fluctuations or failure.
f. Use of supplies or parts not meeting ViewSonic's specifications.
g. Normal wear and tear.
h. Any other cause which does not relate to a product defect.

  1. Any product exhibiting a condition commonly known as "image burn-in" which results when a static image is displayed on the product for an extended period of time.

  2. Removal, installation, and set-up service charges.

  3. When you mount it on the wall, the following must be noticed:

a. The accessories attached with this product are applicable for this product only.
b. When the product is mounted on the wall, holes and fixed screws will remain in the wall body.
c. Wall face may discolor when this product has been mounted on the wall for a long time.

How to get service:

  1. For information about receiving service under warranty, contact ViewSonic Customer Support at 800-888-8583. You will need to provide your product's serial number.
  2. To obtain warranted service, you will be required to provide (a) the original dated sales slip, (b) your name, (c) your address, (d) a description of the problem, and (e) the serial number of the product.
  3. Take or ship the product freight prepaid in the original container to an authorized ViewSonic service center or ViewSonic.
  4. For additional information or the name of the nearest ViewSonic service center, contact ViewSonic.

Limitation of implied warranties:

There are no warranties, express or implied, which extend beyond the description contained herein including the implied warranty of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

Exclusion of damages:

ViewSonic's liability is limited to the cost of repair or replacement of the product. ViewSonic shall not be liable for:

  1. Damage to other property caused by any defects in the product, damages based upon inconvenience, loss of use of the product, loss of time, loss of profits, loss of business opportunity, loss of goodwill, interference with business relationships, or other commercial loss, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
  2. Any other damages, whether incidental, consequential or otherwise.
  3. Any claim against the customer by any other party.

Effect of state law:

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state. Some states do not allow limitations on implied warranties and/or do not allow the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations and exclusions may not apply to you.

The warranty period for this product in mainland China (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Excluded) is subject to the terms and conditions of the Maintenance Guarantee Card.
