How to change the stylus of the ION CLASSIC LP turntable?

To replace the stylus (needle or cartridge) of your ION CLASSIC LP turntable, start by turning off and unplugging the device. Remove the plastic cover from the cartridge (needle protector) before proceeding. Note that your ION CLASSIC LP is equipped with a CZ-800-10 ceramic cartridge with a diamond-tipped stylus.

If you are only replacing the stylus: This is the simplest and most common operation. Firmly grasp the stylus on both sides with your fingers or a fine pliers and pull it forward to remove it. Take the new stylus (compatible CZ-800-10), and slide it up and back until it clicks securely into position on the cartridge. Ensure it is properly secured before use.

If you are replacing the entire cartridge: Grasp the headshell with your thumb underneath and your index finger at the back. With the other hand, grasp the old cartridge with your thumb and index finger, then gently pull down and forward while using your first hand to pull up. The cartridge should gently detach from the headshell.

Carefully disconnect the wires from the back of the old cartridge by pulling on the metal tabs. Prepare the new CZ-800-10 cartridge by removing its needle protector and the stylus. Reconnect the wires to the new cartridge following the color code: the single metal connector with the black wires goes to the two close rods at the bottom, the red wire goes to the upper right rod (viewed from the back), and the white wire goes to the upper left rod.

Position the cartridge underneath the headshell, with your thumb underneath and your index finger on top of the headshell. Gently press the two elements together until you hear a slight click and feel that the cartridge is securely in place. Finally, reinstall the stylus by sliding it correctly up and back.
