INSTALLATION
Install the cameras
- Attach the camera to your chosen surface using the supplied camera hardware kit. If you are unsure as to what hardware is required for your chosen surface, consult a qualified trade professional.
- Connect the camera to power using the provided camera power adapted.
- Adjust the camera angle to a suitable view.
- Tighten the adjustment screw to secure the camera in place.
- Repeat steps 1-4 for each camera.

• The NVR can connect to up to 4 cameras.
- The recommended installation height for indoors is 2.5 meters or higher and for outdoors is 3 meters or higher.
- It is suggested to install cameras at entrances, windows, fences, or other areas prone to incidents.
- Ensure there are no obstructions in front of the camera.
- When installing the camera outdoors, ensure that waterproof measures are taken for the power interface.
Connect the NVR to a monitor

- Connect the NVR to a monitor using a VGA or HDMI cord (not provided).
- Connect the provided mouse to the USB port on the NVR.
- Power on the cameras. They will connect to the NVR automatically.
- For first use, follow the on screen instructions to set up password.
Notes:
- Connect the power adapter to the electrical outlet before connecting it to the power port on the NVR.
- To prevent electric shock and protect the camera, connect the adapter to a grounded wall outlet.
Connect the NVR to the router
Connect the NVR to your Wi-Fi router using the provided network cable. Ensure your phone and the NVR are connected to the same network.

Replace the hard drive
- Remove the screws from the sides of the NVR.

Install App
Download the "Kogan SmarterHome" app from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).

To register:
- If you already have a SmarterHome account, select 'Log In'. To register a new account, select 'Sign Up'.
- The system will automatically recognise your country. If needed, you can manually select your country from the drop-down box. Enter your email address and tap 'Get Verification Code' to continue.
- A 6-digit code will be sent to the submitted email address. Enter this code before the one-minute timer expires.
- Continue to the next page and complete your SmarterHome profile.



Set device in pairing mode
When the device is first turned on, it may automatically enter pairing mode (the status indicator on the cameras will be rapidly flashing red).
If not automatically in pairing mode when powered on, you can manually set the device in pairing mode by pressing and holding the reset button on one of the cameras for 5 seconds until the status indicator is rapidly flashing red.
Add device through network
- Once registered, tap "Add Device" on the app's home page, or the "+" in the upper right corner, to add a new device through the network.
- Select the product type from the list of options in the app (Home Security > NVR).
- Enter your Wi-Fi details. It is important that your SmarterHome™ device and the app are connected to the same Wi-Fi network during setup.



Notes:
- The device and the app have to use the same Wi-Fi network.
• The device is only compatible with 2.4Ghz networks. -
Depending on the product, Steps 3 and 4 may be in opposite order.
-
Ensure that the device is in pairing mode with the status indicator on the cameras rapidly flashing red and tap "Confirm light is rapidly flashing".
- The device will commence the pairing process and connect to the app. Ensure your WiFi router, mobile phone, and the SmarterHome™ device are kept close until connection is complete.
- After successfully being added, you will have the option to rename the device and assign it to a location. It will now be listed on the app's home page. Tap the device listing to enter its control page.



Note:
Once connected, you can select Create Scene from the “+” in the upper right corner (or from the Scene tab) to group connected SmarterHome™ products and automate their functions.
GOOGLE HOME CONTROL
Note:
You will need to have set up a Google Home account prior to linking your Kogan SmarterHome™ device.
Adding "SmarterHome" to the Google Home app
- From the home page of the Google Home app, select the "+" icon (top left corner, see arrow in the below screenshot) to access the 'Add and manage' page.
- Select 'Set up device', then select the 'Works with Google' option.



- Select the search bar and type 'Smarter Home' to locate the Kogan SmarterHome™ service.
- From here, you will be prompted to sign into your SmarterHome™ account using either your email or mobile phone number, depending on which method you used to register your account.
- Select "Kogan SmarterHome™" from the app options.



- Tap 'Authorise' to grant Google permission to access the SmarterHome™ app and your devices.
- Once connected, the app will display any compatible devices linked to your SmarterHome™ account. From here you can assign them to rooms and set up any routines. Tap on any of the devices to view a list of available commands.


Note:
Please note that Google Home can only control the base/core functions of any compatible SmarterHome™ devices. To make full use of this product's smart functionality, please use the Kogan SmarterHome™ app.
AMAZON ALEXA CONTROL
Notes:
You will need to have set up an Alexa account prior to linking your Kogan SmarterHome™ device.
Adding "SmarterHome" to the Alexa app
- From the home page of the Alexa app, select the “≡” icon in the bottom-right and select “Skills & Games” from the sidebar.
- Select the search bar and type 'Smarter Home' to locate the Kogan SmarterHome™ skill.



- Tap 'Enable to Use' to add the Kogan SmarterHome™ skill to Alexa.
- From here, you will be prompted to sign into your SmarterHome™ account using either your email or mobile phone number, depending on which method you used to register your account.
- Select "Kogan SmarterHome™" from the app options.



- Tap 'Authorise' to grant Alexa permission to access the SmarterHome™ app and your devices.
- Once connected, the app will perform a search and display the devices linked to your SmarterHome™ account. When your devices have successfully connected to the Alexa app, you will be able to control your Kogan SmarterHome™ devices via Alexa's voice commands.


Note:
Please note that Alexa can only control the base/core functions of any compatible SmarterHome™ devices. To make full use of this product's smart functionality, please use the Kogan SmarterHome™ app.

Enable the AI function:
The AI function must be enabled to record alarms. To enable the AI function, go to Settings → Camera Settings → AI.
Alarm image:
Capture the thumbnail, channel number and time of the detected object.
Continuous display:
The number of thumbnails retained and displayed on the AI sidebar is restricted. When the sidebar is full, older thumbnails will be hidden as new ones are recorded and displayed. If 'Continuous Display' is enabled, all thumbnails will be retained. If 'Continuous Display' is disabled, the thumbnails will be deleted when they disappear from the sidebar.

If 'Event Only' is enabled, only the captured event will be played. If 'Event Only' is disabled, the regular recordings will also play.

Reset the NVR password
- When logging in, click 'Forgot password?'.

- Enter the service number (same as the serial number) of the NVR and then enter the new password. The service number will be located on the NVR, often at the bottom.

- Click 'Confirm' to save.

- Resolution: Click the down arrow and select the desired resolution.
- Auto Logout: Click the down arrow and select an auto locking time. The device NVR will automatically lock if there is no operation within the selected time period. The password will be required to unlock the NVR.

- Constant mode: When the hard drive is full, it will start to overwrite the stored recordings from the first frame.
- All day mode: Set an expiry date for stored footage. Recordings that exceed the expiration time will be automatically deleted.

Deleted cameras can be re-added by resetting the camera and re-adding it through the QR code or search for an online device method.
Camera Settings:
- Camera: select a camera channel, main bitrate and video encoding format.
Note:
The following settings of motion detection, person detection and light mode are only for the selected camera channel. Select the corresponding channel to adjust these settings for other cameras.
- Motion detection: Enable/disable the function, select the sensitivity and alarm type, set up a defence time and draw a defence area. Click 'Apply' to save.
- AI detection: Enable/disable the function, select detection type, draw detection area, select sensitivity and alarm type, and set up defence time. Click 'Apply' to save.
- Sound detection: Enable/disable the function, select the sensitivity and alarm type and set up a defence time.
• Light: Select light mode if your cameras support this function. - Alert Linkage: When the AI detection and motion detection alarms are triggered, both a sound and light alarm will play.

Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time (AEDT) Function
The AEDT function will automatically turn on if there are AEDT rules in your region.
AEDT is the practice of moving the clocks forward one hour from Standard Time during the summer months and changing them back again in the fall.
Display of playback progress bar:
- When AEDT starts, there will be one less hour in the day (2:00 becomes 3:00) and one hour will be missing from the progress bar, but the footage from that hour is not lost.
