How do I open the roof box?

Insert the key into the cylinder and turn 90° in the direction indicated. Press the push button and raise the cover. The box can be opened from either side, but never open both sides at the same time.

What is the maximum weight I can load?

The maximum load is 110 lbs (50 kg). Distribute weight evenly; do not load more than 22 lbs (10 kg) at the front side. Also check your vehicle's roof load limit.

Can I use an automatic car wash with the roof box installed?

No. Always remove the roof box before using an automatic car wash to avoid damage.

How do I install the roof box on my crossbars?

Store this manual in a safe place where anyone using the roof box can use it for reference. If for any reason you lend/well this roof box to someone else, please make sure that you also give them this instruction manual. Failing to observe these cautions may lead to accidents that may cause death or serious injury. These notes explain points that you should know about when using the roof box.

Dimensions of installation hardware

This roof box is mountable onto most all genuine base carriers and crossbars of the vehicle manufacturer, as well as the INNO square bars. Make sure to install the base carrier and/or crossbars securely.

Warning

Refer to the instruction manual of your vehicle or carrier to make sure that the carriers and/or crossbars are strong enough to mount this product. If you are not sure of the strength do not mount.

Opening and Closing

Dual Open (Open/close from either side)

This roof box can be opened and closed from both the left and right hand sides.

Caution

Do not open the left and right side covers at the same time. Always make sure you completely close one side before opening the opposite side.

The key cannot be pulled out while the cover is open. If you want to pull the key out, first close the cover, then turn

Opening the Cover

1 Insert the key into the key cylinder, and turn the key 90° in the ° direction.

Closing the Cover

1 Check that the key is in the * position, close the cover on a level so that the two key hooks on the front and rear of the cover fill into the hook holes at the same time, and close the cover firmly so that you hear a "click" sound. If you try to close the cover when the cover is slightly twisted, the key hooks will not fill into the holes correctly.

2 While pressing and holding the push button ①, raise the roof box cover ②.

Reference

If the cover catches against something or is difficult to open, do not force it open. Close the cover, then raise it again making sure that it remains level.

Opening and Closing

If the Cover Detaches from the Body If the hooks on one side of the box are not completely closed by mistake and you attempt to open the other side, the cover may become detached from the body. If this happens, follow the procedures below to reattach the cover.

① Find the reason why the hook is not closed property (too many items loaded in the roof box, something trapped in the hook hole etc.), and remove the problem.
② Adjust the position of the cover and body so that the key hooks and hook holes line up.
③ Press the hook sections downwards with the necessary amount of force until you hear a "click" sound.

Caution

When lining up the cover and body, make sure you do not trap the guide plate. * (Trapping the guide plate will make the shape of the cover distort as shown in the diagram on the right.) When closing the cover, do not hold the damper or the area around the damper. Doing so may cause you to trap and injure your hand. * BR430/440 do not have the guide plate.

Before installing

1 Make sure you have crossbars (factory or 3rd party) to attach your cargo box. If you do have front and back cross bars please continue else go to our website: www.innoracks.com for a local dealer.
2 Please consult your vehicle manual for the load roof capacity of your vehicle.

Adjusting your Cross Bars

1 You need to adjust the distance between your front and rear cross bar before mounting your cargo box.

Recommended 31.5 inch (80 cm) Minimum 23.6 inch (60 cm) or longer

Caution

Make sure the distance between the front and back bars is more
If the distance between the front and back bars is too narrow, too much pressure will be started on the roof box, which may cause it to fall of the vehicle.

Reference

If you can adjust the distance between the front and back bars, a distance of approximately 31.5 inch (80 cm) will provide stability for the box, and will also reduce the load concentration on the vehicle.

Deciding the Installation Position of the Roof Box

1 Temporarily place the roof box onto the bars.

2 Open the roof box, and slide the roof box forwards and backwards to align the roof box installation holes A and B with the front and back bars to decide the installation position.

3 At this time, open the trunk (boot) of your vehicle to make sure it does not hit the roof box. If the trunk (boot) hits the roof box, either move the position of the roof box, or change the installation position of the cross bars.

Installing the Roof Box

1 Open the roof box cover. Place the base into the installation hole and adjust the position of the base carrier so that it is right on between two holes of the base. If the base carrier goes beyond the adjustable range, adjust the position of the roof box length.

2 Place the screw side of the bolt through the spacer hole of the base, and turn it upward to place it through the installation hole on the knob so that the base carrier is wedged between the base and bolt.

Reference

If the base carrier is too wide and the bolt does not go through the installation hole on the knob, remove the bolt, rotate the spacer 180° and place the bolt again.

Installing the Carrier

Attach the knob onto the bolt.

Repeat the same procedure to attach the knobs on the remaining three bolts.

Before screwing the knob further, make sure the bolt and the base carrier are centered as illustrated.

Front side

Insert hole filler caps from the top side into all of bareholes that you did not pass the U-bolt through.

Rear side

Cut two pieces of the mold to the same lengths of each installation holes and insert them from above into these holes firmly.

Installing the Belt/Belt Hooks

Pass the belt through the belt rings, and then pass it through the buckle.

2 Stick the belt hooks onto inner side of the cover in a position so that the belt can be hooked easily onto the inner side of the cover.

Reference

After sticking on the belt hooks, leave the hooks for 24 hours without hooking on the belts so that they attach securely.

Checking the Roof Box Installation

Shake the roof box forwards and backwards, and left and right to check whether there is any rattling due to loose knobs, and to check that the carrier is fixed securely on the vehicle. If you can hear or feel rattling, tighten all installation sections again.

Using the Roof Box

Loading the Roof Box

1 Remove the belt buckles, and hook the belts onto the belt hooks.

2 Unfasten the belts that you hooked onto the belt hooks, insert into the bucide and tighten the belt.

Caution

If you over till the box and try to force the cover closed, the cover may not close securely, or the box or contents inside may become damaged.

Caution

When closing the cover; make sure that you do not trap loaded items in the hook section.

Calculating the maximum loading capacity

Warning

When driving with items loaded into the box, always fix the items in place with the bolts.

If the items are not fixed down enough, they may move around during transit, causing the cover to become difficult to open. If this occurs, press the button while pushing the cover down.

The maximum load weight is 110 lbs (50 kg). Also, load items so they are flat and distributed evenly within the box. In particular, do not load items that weigh more than 22 lbs (10 kg) at the front side of the box.

- Loading more than 110 lbs (50 kg) of items into the box, or loading items into only the front or the back of the box may cause damage to the roof box, or it may cause the box to fall from the roof of the vehicle.

- There may be additional weight limits depending on the make and model of vehicle. Check for any additional limitations in the vehicle compatibility list in the store.

Warning

Do not exceed the posted speed limit

Do not exceed a speed of 80 mph (130 km/h) when carrying ski or snowboard. And observe legal speed limit. Also, reduce your speed accordingly when driving in strong wind conditions or in bad road conditions.

Below driving, check the 4 installation locations for looseness. If any of the installation sections are loose, re-lighted them.

Alterations Prohibited

Do not alter the product in any way by drilling holes in it etc. This will void the warranty of the product.

Hold loaded items with the belts

Always use the belts to hold loaded items in place. Failing to do so may cause damage to the loaded items or roof box, or may cause the loaded items to fall out if you brake sharply.

Items that cannot be loaded

1. Any type of spray can that utilizes high pressure gas

2. Flammable liquids including gasoline, peraffin etc.

3. Precision mechanical equipment

4. Living creatures (pers etc.)

5. How best [registered etc.]

The inside of the root box may become hot because it is exposed to direct sunlight. Loading the above-laded items into the roof

Use of oils, thinners (including paints) etc. prohibited

Using any type of lubricating spray, oil, grass, thinner, or distangent may cause the roof box materials to deteriorate, which may cause damage to the roof box, or may cause the roof box to fall from the vehicle. Do not apply oil to the key or biceps sections

Close the cover securely

Close the cover securely. Failing to do so may cause the cover to open while driving allowing the loaded items to fall out, or the roof box may become damaged or fall from the roof of the vehicle due to wind pressure.

Caution

Trunk (Boot) Caution

Makes sure that the rear door or trunk (boot) door does not hit the roof box when opening.

Not fully waterproof

The roof box is not constructed to be complete waterproof. Therefore, loaded items may get wet due to strong rain etc.

Caution opening and closing during strong winds

Opening and closing the roof box in strong gusta or when it is particularly windy may cause damage to the roof box, or may cause you trap your hands on, in the box causing injury.

Avoid sudden maneuvers

Avoid sudden starts, sudden turns, and sudden braking as much as possible. Performing such maneuvers may cause the installation sections of the carrier and roof box to slide out of place, which may cause damage to the vehicle or roof box.

Caution: Vehicle height

Always remember that the vehicle's height has increased when the carrier is installed

Use of automatic car washes prohibited

Always remove the carrier before using an automatic car wash.

Daily Maintenance / Storage

If the roof box becomes dirty, wash it with water.

Warning

Use of deterpents and wax prohibited

When washing the roof box, do not use detergents or wax. The roof box materials may detergents depending on the type of detergent or wax.

Warning

Use of oils, thinners (including paints) etc. prohibited

Using lubricating spray, oil, grease, trimmer, and distargents on the roof box may cause the roof box material to deteriorate and crack, which may cause the roof box to fall from the roof of the vehicle and cause an accident involving other cars or passers by. Do not oil the keys or hinges.
