How do I clean the soleplate of my Panasonic MC-5030 iron?

Why is my iron not producing steam?

Ensure the water tank is filled and the temperature dial is set to a steam-producing range (usually above 2 dots). Check that the steam button is pressed. If still no steam, descale the iron.

How does the auto shut-off work?

The iron automatically turns off if left horizontally for 30 seconds or vertically (on its heel) for 8 minutes. Move the iron to reactivate it.

Can I use tap water in the iron?

Yes, but in areas with hard water, mixing tap water with distilled water (50/50) is recommended to reduce mineral buildup.

What does the anti-drip system do?

The anti-drip system prevents water from leaking onto clothes when the iron is not hot enough for steaming, protecting your garments from water spots.

How do I use the self-clean function?

Fill the tank to max, set temperature to max, and unplug the iron. Press and hold the self-clean button while gently moving the iron over a sink. Steam and impurities will flush out.

What is the spray function for?

The spray function allows you to dampen stubborn wrinkles or creases before ironing. It helps relax fibers for easier pressing.

Can I use vertical steaming?

Yes, hold the iron upright and press the steam boost button to release a powerful shot of steam for hanging clothes or drapes.

How do I refill the water tank?

Unplug the iron. Open the water fill cover. Use the included measuring cup to pour water into the tank. Do not exceed the max fill line.

What should I do if the iron leaves brown stains on clothes?

This indicates mineral buildup. Use the self-clean function. If stains persist, use a descaling solution. Ensure you use appropriate water quality.

Pull out the power cord and put the plug into the wall socket.

●With the MC-5030, there are three levels of cleaning power.

HIGH: For carpet where a strong suction power is necessary.

MEDIUM: For the cleaning of floors.

LOW: For curtains or table cloths where only a weak suction power is required (For MC-5030, When you press the on/off switch pedal and the power control switch is not set at any position yet, it is automatically set at "low" position.)

●MC-5010 incorporates a variable power control to select the most suitable power required for your cleaning needs.

Switching between carpet and flooring:

●Flooring: Press lever A ●Carpet: Press lever B

After you finish vacuuming, remove the plug from the wall socket and press the cord rewind pedal.

Rotate the lever for shaking off dust about 10 times.

Detach the expander and shake the filter well in all direction to let off dust.

The lever of dust container should be upper side and pull out the filter from canter of dust container as illustrated.

Remove the filter and empty dirt and dust.

If the dust particles still remain stuck, scrape the particles from between the pleats using the accompanying stick. Be careful not to damage the filter surface. It is advisable to clean inside of the dust container as illustrated.

Throw out the accumulated dust regularly to prevent the cleaner from malfunctioning. A full dust container may reduce the suction power and the lever might not turn smoothly.
