Frequently Asked Questions - MNS1200EWRCY21 MISTRAL

How do I set the timer on my Mistral heater?
Press the Timer button repeatedly. Each press increases the timer by 1 hour, up to a maximum of 6 hours. The display will illuminate to confirm the setting. The heater will automatically turn off after the set time.
Can I use an extension cord with this heater?
No. The manual states: DO NOT use in conjunction with Extension cords, Power Boards or Double Adaptors, as these can overheat when overloaded. Always plug directly into a fixed domestic power outlet.
Why does the heater smell when first used?
It is normal for the heater to emit a burning smell and slight smoke during the first few minutes of operation. This is due to the 'burn-in' of heating elements and ceramic parts. Operate in a well-ventilated area until the smell disappears.
How do I clean the heater?
Always unplug and allow the heater to cool completely. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior. Never immerse in water or spray liquids. Clean air inlet/outlet grilles frequently to prevent blockage.
Is this heater safe to use in a bathroom?
It has a IP24 rating, meaning it is protected against splashing water. However, never place it near bathtubs, showers, or swimming pools. Ensure it is positioned at least 1 meter from water sources and never use in damp areas.
How do I replace the remote control battery?
Unscrew the cover, press the locking arm, and pull out the battery tray. Insert a CR2025 3V lithium battery with the positive (+) side up. Reinsert the tray and tighten the screw. Dispose of old batteries safely.
What does the oscillation function do?
Press the Turn button to activate oscillation. The heater will rotate side to side to distribute heat over a wider area. Press again to stop oscillation.
Can I leave the heater unattended?
No. The manual warns: Never leave the appliance unattended when it is in use. Always turn off and unplug when not in use or when leaving the room.
What should I do if the heater tips over?
The heater has a tip-over switch that will automatically shut it off if it is not upright. Simply place it back on a stable, level surface and restart the heater.
What is the warranty period and how do I claim?
The warranty is 2 years from the date of purchase for Australia and New Zealand. To claim, take the product with proof of purchase to any Bunnings store. Contact GSM Retail Group at 1300 373 199 (Aus) or 0800 200 037 (NZ).
