Frequently Asked Questions - KCF5215 Kunft

How do I defrost my Kunft KCF5215 chest freezer?
To defrost, unplug the freezer and open the door. Remove all food and baskets. Open the outflow hole and drainage hole, placing a container under the drainage hole. The frost will melt naturally; wipe up defrost water with a dry, soft cloth. For faster defrosting, you may use an ice scraper once the frost softens. Never use mechanical devices or sharp tools to accelerate defrosting, as they may damage the refrigerant circuit.
How often should I clean the freezer?
Regular cleaning is recommended to prevent odors. Clean the interior with a soft cloth or sponge using a solution of two tablespoons of baking soda mixed with a quart of warm water. Rinse with water and wipe dry. For exterior, use a soft cloth dampened with soapy water. Clean door gaskets with a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh cleaners, abrasives, or organic solvents.
What should I do if my freezer doesn't turn on?
First, check that the freezer is plugged in and the power socket is working. Verify that the temperature control knob is set to a work area. Ensure there is no power failure or tripped circuit breaker. If the issue persists, contact the Customer Support Service.
How do I change the light bulb in the freezer?
Disconnect the freezer from the power supply. Remove the light bulb cover (if applicable). Unscrew the old bulb counter-clockwise and replace with a new incandescent bulb (max 15W) or LED bulb as specified. Screw clockwise and reassemble the cover. For LED replacements, contact the Customer Support Service.
Why is my freezer making loud noises?
Loud noises may be due to an uneven floor or unstable placement. Ensure the freezer is on a flat, sturdy surface. Check that accessories and baskets are properly placed. The compressor can produce a buzz, especially during start/stop, which is normal. Refrigerant flow may cause gurgling sounds. If noises persist, inspect for loose parts.
Can I store bottled drinks in the freezer?
No, do not store bottled or sealed containers of fluids such as beer or soda. The liquid may expand when frozen and cause the bottle to burst, leading to damage or injury. Only store food items suitable for freezing.
What do the indicator lights mean?
The POWER light (green) indicates the freezer is connected to power. The COOLING and FREEZING lights correspond to the temperature zone selected by the thermostat knob. When set to the cooling zone, the freezer maintains a higher temperature; in the freezing zone, it operates at lower temperatures for deep freezing.
How long will food stay frozen during a power failure?
The freezer can keep food frozen for several hours, even in summer, if the door is kept closed. To extend preservation, avoid opening the door and do not add fresh food during the outage. After power returns, check food condition before consuming.
Why is there condensation on the outside of the freezer?
Condensation on the exterior surfaces or door seals is normal in high humidity conditions. It is caused by the temperature difference between the freezer and the surrounding air. Simply wipe the condensation away with a dry towel. If persistent, check door gaskets for proper sealing.
How can I save energy with my freezer?
Place the freezer in the coolest area of the room, away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Allow hot food to cool to room temperature before storing. Avoid overloading, as it forces the compressor to run longer. Minimize door openings and organize food for quick retrieval. Clean dust from the rear and ground regularly to improve heat dissipation.

(The above picture is for reference only. The actual configuration will depend on the physical product or statement made by the distributor.)

  • The freezer's low temperature may keep food fresh for a long time and it is mainly used to store frozen food and make ice.
  • The freezer is suitable for storing meat, fish, shrimp, pastries and other types of food not to be consumed within a short term. Please do not store fluids in bottled or closed containers items such as bottled beers, beverages, etc.
  • Please note that food shall be consumed within the shelf time.
  • The product's freezing speed is related to the amount of food stored and the ambient temperature. If too much food at normal temperature is put in at the same time, the thermostat shall be adjusted to the maximum gear 24 hours in advance or ice must be prepared ahead for cold storage; also, large food items shall be divided into small pieces and put in several times, otherwise the large piece of food or an excessive amount of food may not be frozen evenly, and the food may deteriorate.

kunft®

Notice:

After using the appliance for a long term, there may be a certain degree of wear with the hinge, and it will cause some noise when opening/closing the door and reduce the hinge's service life. It is recommended to regularly grease the hinge for proper maintenance, as this can effectively eliminate noise and extend the hinge's service life.

  • The freezer shall stay up for half an hour before connecting it to a power source when it is used for the first time.
  • The freezer shall run for 2 to 3 hours before loading fresh or frozen food; on the other hand, the freezer shall run for more than 4 hours in summer in advance considering that the ambient temperature is higher.

Energy saving tips

  • The appliance should be located in the coolest area of the room, away from heat producing appliances or heating ducts, and away from direct sunlight. Please allow hot food to cool down to room temperature before placing it inside the appliance. Please note that overloading the appliance forces the compressor to run for a longer period of time. Also, food that freezes too slowly may lose quality, or spoil.
  • Please make sure you wrap food properly, and wipe containers dry before placing them inside the appliance, as this cuts down frost from building up inside the freezer.
  • The appliance's storage bin should not be lined with aluminium foil, wax paper, or paper towelling since liners interfere with cold air circulation, making the appliance less efficient.
  • Organise and label food to reduce door openings and extended searches. Remove as many items as needed at once, and close the door as soon as possible.

kunft®

2.3. Maintenance

Cleaning

  • Any dust behind the freezer and on the ground shall be regularly cleaned to improve the cooling effect and save energy.

  • Use a soft cloth or sponge to clean inside the freezer, with two tablespoons of baking soda and a quart of warm water. Then rinse with water and wipe clean. After cleaning, open the door and let it dry naturally before turning the power on.
  • For areas that are difficult to clean in the freezer (such as gaps or corners), it is recommended to wipe them regularly with a soft rag, soft brush, etc. and, when necessary, combined with some auxiliary tools (such as thin sticks) to ensure contaminants or bacteria do not accumulate in these areas.
  • Do not use soap, detergent, scrub powder, spray cleaner, etc., as these may cause odours inside the freezer or contaminate food.
  • Clean the baskets with a soft cloth dampened with soapy water or diluted detergent. Then dry it with a soft cloth or let it dry naturally.
  • Wipe the outer surface of the freezer with a soft cloth dampened with soapy water, detergent, etc., and then wipe it dry.
  • Do not use hard brushes, clean steel balls, wire brushes, abrasives (such as toothpastes), organic solvents (such as alcohol, acetone, banana oil, etc.), boiling water, acid or alkaline items, which may damage the freezer's surface and interior. Please be aware that boiling water and organic solvents such as benzene may deform or damage plastic parts.
  • Do not rinse directly with water or other liquids during cleaning to avoid short circuits or affect the appliance's electrical insulation after immersion.

Defrost

  • Your freezer shall be manually defrosted.
  • Unplug the freezer and open the door, remove food and shelving baskets before defrosting; then open the outflow hole and drainage hole (and place the water container at the drainage hole); indoor frost will naturally melt; wipe the defrost water with a dry, soft cloth.
