Frequently Asked Questions - KCF1897 Kunft

How do I set the temperature on my Kunft KCF1897 chest freezer?
The temperature is controlled by the thermostat knob inside the freezer. The numbers 1 to 6 do not represent specific temperatures; 1 is warmest and 6 is coldest. Turn the knob to your desired setting. The 'OFF' position turns the freezer off.
How do I defrost the chest freezer?
Unplug the freezer and open the lid. Remove all food and the basket. Open the drainage holes and place a container under the outflow. Allow frost to melt naturally. Use a plastic scraper to speed up the process if needed. Do not use sharp objects. Wipe dry before plugging in again.
What should I do if the freezer is not working?
First, check if the power cord is plugged in and the socket has power. Ensure the thermostat is not set to 'OFF'. Check if the circuit breaker has tripped. If the problem persists, contact Customer Support Service.
How do I clean the freezer?
Unplug the freezer and allow it to cool. Use a soft cloth or sponge with water and a mild, non-abrasive detergent. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly. Do not use hard brushes, steel wool, or organic solvents. Do not rinse electrical parts with water.
Why is the compressor running continuously?
This is normal in hot weather. Other causes: placing too much food at once, adding warm food, frequent door openings, or thick frost buildup. Defrost if the frost layer is thick. Allow hot foods to cool before storing.
Why is the door hard to open?
After refrigeration, a pressure difference between the inside and outside can make the door temporarily difficult to open. This is a normal physical phenomenon. Wait a moment and try again.
Why is there condensation on the outside of the freezer?
Condensation on the exterior or door seals is normal in high humidity. Wipe it with a dry cloth. The freezer may also emit heat during operation due to the condenser; this is normal.
Can I store medical supplies or blood in this freezer?
No. This freezer is designed for household food storage only. Do not use for blood, drugs, or biological products as per national standards.
How do I dispose of the freezer properly?
The freezer contains flammable refrigerant and foam. Do not burn it. Contact a qualified recycling company. Remove the door and shelves to prevent child entrapment before disposal.
What should I do if I smell a strange odor from the freezer?
Check if any food is spoiled. Ensure all food is well wrapped. Clean the interior with a mild detergent. If the odor persists, place an open box of baking soda inside to absorb smells.

Start

Kunft KCF1897 - Start - 1

- The chest freezer should be left unplugged for half an hour before connecting it to the 220-240 V/50 Hz power source when it is started for the first time.

The chest freezer should run 2 to 3 hours before loading fresh or frozen foods; the chest freezer should run for 4 hours in the summer, considering that the room temperature will be higher.

Energy saving tips

  • The appliance should be located in the coolest area of the room, away from heat producing appliances or heating ducts, and away from direct sunlight.
  • Let hot foods cool down to room temperature before placing them in the appliance. Overloading the appliance forces the compressor to run longer. Foods that freeze too slowly may lose quality or spoil.
  • Be sure to wrap the food properly, and wipe the containers dry before placing them in the appliance. This prevents frost build-up inside the appliance.
  • The appliance storage basket should not be lined with aluminium foil, wax paper, or paper towels. Liners interfere with the cool air circulation, making the appliance less efficient.
  • Organise and label the food to reduce door opening times and extended searches. Remove as many items as needed each time, and close the door as soon as possible.

2.3. Maintenance

Cleaning

- The dust behind the chest freezer and on the ground should be cleaned regularly to improve the cooling effect and save energy. The interior of the chest freezer should be cleaned regularly to avoid unpleasant odours.

Use soft towels or a sponge dipped in water and non-corrosive neutral detergent to clean the appliance. In the end, the chest freezer should be cleaned with clean water and a dry cloth. Leave the door open for natural drying before the turning on the power.
