Frequently Asked Questions - JFA03 HAGER

How do I measure DC voltage with the JFA03?
Set the rotary switch to the DC voltage range (V⎓). Insert the black lead into COM and red lead into V/Ω. Connect probes across the circuit and read the display. Start with the highest range and decrease if needed.
How do I measure resistance?
Set the switch to Ω range. Insert leads as for voltage measurement. Ensure circuit is de-energized. Connect probes across the component. If reading '1' or 'OL', increase range.
How do I test continuity?
Turn the dial to the continuity/buzzer position (often marked with a diode symbol). Connect probes across the circuit. A continuous beep indicates a closed circuit (< 50 Ω).
How do I measure AC current?
Set the switch to AC current (A∼) range. Insert black lead into COM and red lead into 10A or mA jack depending on expected current. Break the circuit and connect the meter in series. Never exceed the rated current.
How do I replace the battery?
Turn off the meter and remove test leads. Unscrew the battery cover on the back. Replace the 9V battery (6F22) observing polarity. Replace cover and screws.
What does 'OL' on the display mean?
OL stands for 'Over Limit' or overload. It means the measured value exceeds the selected range. Switch to a higher range to get a reading.
Is the JFA03 auto-ranging?
No, the JFA03 is manual ranging. You must select the appropriate range using the rotary switch for accurate readings.
What safety precautions should I take?
Always observe the maximum input limits (1000V DC/750V AC CAT II). Use properly rated test leads. Do not measure voltage or current in circuits above the meter's rated category. Inspect leads for damage before use.
Can I measure temperature with this device?
No, the JFA03 does not have a temperature measurement feature. It measures voltage, current, resistance, continuity, and diodes only.
How do I clean and maintain the JFA03?
Wipe the exterior with a dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasives. Store in a dry place. Replace the battery promptly when the low battery symbol appears to avoid leakage.
