Frequently Asked Questions - LM82 Qtx

How do I power the Qtx LM82 mixer?
The LM82 can be powered by a 9V PP3 battery (included) or an optional 12V DC 200mA power adaptor with correct polarity. To use battery, unscrew the base cover, connect the battery clip, and replace the cover.
What type of input signals can I use?
The LM82 accepts line level signals only. It is not designed for microphone-level inputs. Use devices like keyboards, CD players, or audio interfaces with line outputs.
How do I connect my audio sources?
With the power off and all volume controls turned down, connect your line-level sources to the 8 x 6.3mm jack inputs. Then connect the output jacks to your amplifier or recording device. Ensure correct connections for stereo (2 outputs).
Why is the red peak LED staying on?
If the red LED beside the Master Volume stays on continuously, it indicates clipping or distortion. Reduce the Master Volume or individual channel volumes until the LED only flickers momentarily.
Can I use the LM82 for mono output?
Yes, you can use just one output jack for mono. The LM82 mixes 4 inputs to each output (stereo), so using a single output will sum the stereo signal to mono.
What is the battery life of the LM82?
Battery life depends on usage and battery quality. Typically a 9V alkaline battery can last several hours of continuous use. For longer sessions, use the optional 12V DC adaptor.
How do I clean and maintain the mixer?
Disconnect power before cleaning. Wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquids or solvents. Avoid exposing the mixer to moisture or extreme temperatures.
What should I do if there is no sound output?
Check that the power is on and the LED is lit. Ensure all volume controls are turned up, and verify connections to input sources and output devices. Try a different cable or source to isolate the issue.
Is the LM82 compatible with microphones?
No, the LM82 is designed for line-level inputs. Microphones require a preamp or a mixer with microphone inputs. Using a microphone directly will result in very low volume or no sound.
How should I dispose of the mixer at the end of its life?
The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol indicates this is electrical/electronic equipment. Do not dispose with household waste. Follow your local council guidelines for WEEE recycling.

Thank you for choosing the QTX mini mixer series as part of your audio system. These convenient, compact units are designed to provide a useful solution for combining several mic or line signals into a single sound system.

Please read and keep this guide to help get the best results and avoid damage to your mini mixer.

The QTX mini mixers can be powered by a 9V battery or optional 12Vdc power adaptor.

To insert a 9V PP3 battery, unscrew the cover on the base of the mixer, connect the battery clip and replace cover.

Alternatively, connect a 12Vdc 200mA (min) adaptor to the rear DC input, ensuring the correct polarity.

With the power switched off at the rear and all volume controls turned down, connect all inputs via 6.3mm jack.

MM41 and MM81 models have inputs to match microphone level. LM41 and LM82 models require line level inputs.

All inputs will be mixed to a single output except the LM82 mixer, which feeds 4 inputs to each of 2 outs for stereo.

Connect the output jack(s) to the sound system or recording device.

Switch the power on and turn up Master Volume part way. The power LED will illuminate.

Increase each input channel volume in turn, checking the level through the connected equipment.

When all inputs are balanced as required, adjust the Master Volume to the required level.

Ensure that the red LED beside the Master Volume control does not light other than momentarily.

If this LED stays on longer than this, reduce the Master volume.
