Frequently Asked Questions - RCD628B BLACK & DECKER

How do I use the slow cook function on the Black & Decker RCD628B?
Press the Slow Cook button, then use the + and - buttons to set the time (30 minutes to 24 hours). Select Low or High temperature if needed. Press Start. The unit will switch to Keep Warm when done.
Can I cook rice in this multicooker?
Yes. Add rice and water (typically 1:2 ratio), then press the Rice function. It automatically adjusts cooking time. Fluff rice after cooking.
What does the 'Keep Warm' function do?
After cooking, the multicooker automatically switches to Keep Warm, which maintains a safe serving temperature (around 140°F / 60°C) for up to 4 hours.
How should I clean the inner pot?
The inner pot is dishwasher safe. For hand washing, use warm soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge. Avoid steel wool to preserve the non-stick coating.
Can I use metal utensils?
No. Metal utensils can scratch the non-stick coating. Use only wooden or silicone utensils.
What happens if the power goes out while cooking?
The unit will reset to standby. Cooking time and settings will be lost. You must restart the cycle manually. The Auto Shut-off ensures safety.
How do I prevent the lid from fogging up?
Ensure the steam vent is open. Wipe the lid dry before cooking. Avoid opening the lid frequently to prevent heat loss.
What is the maximum capacity for cooking rice?
Do not fill the inner pot beyond the 2/3 mark when dry, or above the 1/2 mark for foods that expand (rice, beans). For reference, the 6-quart capacity allows up to 6 cups of uncooked rice.
Why does my multicooker display 'E01' or 'E02'?
These are error codes. E01 indicates a temperature sensor issue (lid might be open or sensor faulty). E02 means overheating. Unplug, let cool, and try again. Contact support if persists.
Can I replace the power cord if damaged?
For safety, do not attempt to replace the cord yourself. Contact Black & Decker customer service for repair options. Improper replacement can cause electric shock.
