Frequently Asked Questions - Apex A40 MONITOR AUDIO

What is the recommended placement for the Apex A40 speakers?
Place the speakers on bookshelves or dedicated stands. Position them at least 30 cm (12 inches) from the rear wall to allow the bass reflex port to function properly. Toe-in slightly towards the listening position for optimal stereo imaging.
Can the Apex A40 be used as a center speaker?
The Apex A40 is designed as a bookshelf or surround speaker, not specifically as a center. However, you can use a single A40 horizontally if needed, but for optimal dialogue reproduction, Monitor Audio recommends a dedicated center channel like the Apex A40 is not typically used as center; consider the Apex range center model.
What is the power handling of the Apex A40?
The speaker handles up to 75 W RMS and is suitable for amplifiers rated between 25 and 100 W. Ensure your amplifier does not exceed the continuous power rating to avoid damage.
Does the Apex A40 support bi-wiring?
Yes, the binding posts are gold-plated and allow bi-wiring or bi-amping. Remove the jumper links between the two sets of terminals to use separate cables for the tweeter and woofer sections. Ensure correct polarity.
How do I clean the Apex A40 speakers?
Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the cabinet. For stubborn marks, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Do not use solvents, abrasive cleaners, or spray liquids directly onto the speaker. The grille can be removed magnetically and cleaned with a lint-free cloth.
What type of drivers does the Apex A40 use?
It features Monitor Audio's proprietary C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium) drivers: a 4-inch mid/bass driver and a 1-inch tweeter. This technology provides low distortion and high sensitivity.
Is there a break-in period for the Apex A40?
Like most high-quality speakers, the Apex A40 benefits from a break-in period of about 20-50 hours at moderate volume. The drivers and suspension components will loosen, resulting in smoother frequency response and improved bass.
Can the Apex A40 be used outdoors?
No, the Apex A40 is designed for indoor use only. Exposure to moisture, direct sunlight, or extreme temperatures can damage the drivers and cabinet. Keep them in a dry, well-ventilated area.
What is the warranty for Monitor Audio Apex A40?
Monitor Audio typically offers a 5-year warranty from the date of purchase for passive speakers, subject to registration. Check your local dealer or the official website for exact terms.
Are spare parts available for the Apex A40?
Spare parts such as drivers and crossovers are available through authorized service centers. Do not attempt to repair yourself as it may void the warranty. Contact Monitor Audio support for assistance.
