Why does my Dualit jug kettle not turn on?

Check that the plug is properly connected to the power supply and the wall switch is on. If the power neon illuminates but the kettle does not boil, the thermostat may have tripped due to running dry. Wait 10 minutes for the kettle to cool down, then it will work normally. If the neon does not light, the fuse may have blown. Replace the fuse (see manual for access).

Why is water sputtering out of the spout?

You may have overfilled the kettle. Fill only to the MAX mark (1.5L). Also, wait 10 seconds after boiling before pouring to allow water to settle. Scale buildup can also cause sputtering; descale regularly. Ensure the filter is correctly positioned.

Why does my kettle not switch off automatically?

Limescale buildup may prevent the thermostat from working. Descale the kettle regularly. Also, ensure the lid is fully closed; if not, the kettle may not switch off. If you fill via the spout or tilt the kettle during filling, water may enter the steam tube and affect operation.

How do I clean and descale my Dualit kettle?

Unplug and let it cool completely. Wipe the exterior and interior with a damp cloth. To descale, use a suitable descaling product (follow pack instructions). Do not boil the kettle with descaling solution inside; instead, fill, boil, then discard water. Rinse the kettle at least 3 times with fresh water after descaling.

How do I replace the water filter?

Unplug and let the kettle cool. Open the lid. Hold the top of the filter and pull up and out. Rinse the filter under a tap while brushing gently with a soft brush. To replace, align the filter with the grooves in the holder and push back into place. Do not operate the kettle without the filter correctly in position.

How do I replace the fuse in the plug?

Unplug the kettle. Remove the silver label on the plug to access the screw. Open the plug and replace the fuse with one of the same current rating (typically 13A). Ensure the fuse cover is refitted before use. Replacement fuses should be BS1362 approved.

Can I immerse the kettle or power base in water?

No, never immerse the kettle, power base, cord, or plug in water or any liquid. This can cause electric shock. Only wipe with a damp cloth and ensure all connectors stay dry.

Why are there water droplets on the power base after boiling?

This is condensation from the steam used to switch off the kettle automatically. It escapes through vents in the underside of the kettle and is perfectly normal. Simply dry with a non-abrasive cloth.

How should I store my kettle?

Allow the kettle to cool completely before storing. Wrap the excess cord around the cord tray on the base. Do not store the kettle in an appliance garage or under cupboards. Keep it away from heat sources and out of reach of children.

FILLING YOUR KETTLE

Ensure the kettle is unclugged. Remove the kettle from the power base. Pull the knob up and towards the handle to open the lid. The lid is hinged for easy opening and closing.

WARNING: IF THE KETTLE HAS JUST BOILED, THE LID WILL BE HOT. USE THE KNOB TO CLOSE THE LID.
