What is the ALCI safety feature and how do I test it?

The ALCI (Appliance Leakage Circuit Interrupter) is a safety device that shuts off power if the dryer becomes submerged. To test: plug in, press the TEST button; the dryer should stop and the RESET button should pop out. Unplug, push RESET, and re-plug to resume use. Test before each use.

How does the ionic technology work?

The dryer generates negative ions that break down water droplets in your hair, allowing faster evaporation. This results in smoother, shinier, less frizzy hair with reduced static.

What attachments are included and how do I attach them?

No. The dryer is designed only for natural human hair. Do not use on wigs or hairpieces made of synthetic materials, as hot air can damage them.

What does the polarized plug mean?

The plug has one blade wider than the other. It will fit into a polarized outlet only one way for safety. If it doesn't fit, reverse the plug. If still not, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug.

How do I store the hair dryer?

Allow the dryer to cool completely. Use the hanging loop to hang it. Do not wrap the cord around the dryer. Store in a dry place away from water and heat.

This user manual accompanies this professional hairdryer. It contains important information on use.

For improved readability, the professional hairdryer will be referred to only as the “hairdryer” below.

Before using the hairdryer, read the user manual carefully. This particularly applies to the safety notes. Failure to follow this user manual may result in severe injury or damage to the hairdryer.

The user manual is based on the standards and rules in force in the European Union. When abroad, you must also observe country-specific guidelines and laws. Store the user manual for future use. If you pass the hairdryer on to third parties, please be absolutely sure to include this user manual.

This hairdryer is exclusively designed for drying and styling natural human hair. The hairdryer may not be used for artificial hair.

The hairdryer is intended for private use. It is not suitable for commercial application, e.g. in hair or beauty salons. Only use the hairdryer as described in this user manual. Any other use is deemed improper and may result in damage to property or even personal injury. The hairdryer is not a children's toy.

The manufacturer or vendor accepts no liability for damage caused by improper or incorrect use.

A faulty electrical installation or excessive mains voltage may result in an electric shock.

- Only connect the hairdryer if the mains voltage of the outlet corresponds to the rating plate on the product.

- Do not operate the hairdryer if it is visibly damaged or if the cord or plug is defective.

- As additional protection, it is recommended that you install a residual current protective device (RCD) with a release current of no more than 30 mA in the power supply being used. Ask your installation technician for advice.

- Do not use the hairdryer near bath tubs, shower trays or other vessels containing water.

- If the cord of the hairdryer is damaged, the manufacturer, its after sales support team or a person with similar qualifications must replace it to avoid risks.

- Do not open the housing; instead, have a qualified professional perform the repairs to reduce any risks. Contact a qualified workshop for this. Liability and warranty claims are waived in the event of repairs performed by the user, improper connection of the device or incorrect operation.

- Only parts that comply with the original device construction may be used for repairs. This hairdryer contains electrical and mechanical parts essential for protecting the user.

- Do not immerse the hairdryer, the cord or plug in water or other liquids.

- Never touch the plug with wet hands.

- Never pull the plug out of the outlet by the cord; instead, always do so by taking hold of the plug.

• Never use the cord as a carrying strap and do not wind it around the hairdryer.

The hairdryer and the styling nozzle become very hot during use and may cause burns.

• Always switch the hairdryer off when you put it down. It should always be allowed to cool down on a solid and heat-resistant surface.
• After use, the hairdryer will be hot for a while. Let the hairdryer cool off sufficiently before changing the adapter, cleaning it or storing it.
• Do not apply hair spray when the hairdryer is switched on. There is a risk of fire and explosion!
• Do not allow the hairdryer to operate when unattended. Do not leave it unattended while it is cooling down.

Improper handling of the hairdryer may result in damage to the hairdryer.

- Do not cover the air filter during use. The air filter must be cleaned from time to time. Otherwise, the integrated overheat protection may switch the hairdryer off. You can find more related information in the chapter “Overheat protection”.

- Do not use the hairdryer for wigs or hairpieces made of synthetic materials.

- Do not point the hot air stream towards animals, plants or objects.

Please note the label on the power cable. The label is not permitted to be removed.

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.

Checking the hairdryer and product contents

1. Take the hairdryer out of the packaging.
2. Check to make sure that the delivery is complete (see fig. A).
3. Check whether the hairdryer or the individual parts show visible damage. If this is the case, do not use the hairdryer. Contact the manufacturer at the service address specified on the warranty card.

How the ion effect works

Molecules contained in the air drawn into the device are negatively charged (ionized) in the hairdryer and are transported onto your hair along with the "hot air".

Negative ions break down water droplets in your hair into smaller drops so that they evaporate faster.

The advantage: Your hair...

• becomes smoother, softer and more supple.
• regains its shine.
• is easier to brush and style.
• is less prone to matting, breaking and knotting.

The absorption of moisture also:

• revitalizes the structure of your hair and
- reduces the accumulation of static charge.

The negative ions in the hot air come into contact with the water droplets in your hair. The negative charge of the ions breaks the hydrogen bonds in the water droplets so that the water breaks down into smaller units.

"Dry" hair has a rough, scaly surface.

Only this fine moisture can penetrate your hair, and smooth and seal the surface.

Operating instructions

Using the ALCI Plug

CHECK ALCI SAFETY FEATURE EVERY TIME YOU USE APPLIANCE

This appliance is equipped with an Appliance Leakage Circuit Interrupter (ALCI), 8 a safety feature that renders it inoperable under some abnormal conditions, such as immersion in water. To make sure the ALCI is functioning properly, perform the following test. The purpose of this test is to allow you to make sure the water sensing system (ALCI) is working.

1. Plug in the appliance and press TEST button 9 on ALCI plug.
2. The appliance will stop working. There will be an audible click and reset button will pop out. This indicates the ALCI is functioning properly.
3. To reset ALCI, unit should be unplugged. Then push RESET button 10 in and reinsert plug into outlet.
4. If ALCI is not functioning properly, return appliance to nearest service center.
5. It is important that if immersion occurs, this unit be brought to a service center. Do not try to reset.
6. Be sure to repeat test every time you use the unit to confirm ALCI is operational.

Styling nozzle or diffuser?

• The enclosed styling nozzle 3 lets you use the air stream for styling. The styling nozzle can be rotated to any position.
• The diffuser 7 (also referred to as “air shower”) will enable you to dry your hair very gently, e.g. with permed hair. Also with so-called “air-dried” perms, the use of the diffuser is recommended, as you virtually obtain the effect of air drying.
• You can also use the hairdryer without a styling nozzle or diffuser.

Attach the styling nozzle/diffuser and switch on the hairdryer

A slight odor may be produced during first use. This is no cause for concern. Make sure that there is adequate ventilation, e.g. by opening a window.

1. Push the styling nozzle 3 or the diffuser 7 onto the opening of the air outlet, until the styling nozzle or diffuser locks in (see fig. B).
2. Insert the plug into a properly installed outlet. In the process, make sure that the hairdryer is switched off.
3. Use the fan speed switch 4 and the heat setting switch 5 to set the desired speed or setting.

Both switches have three different settings, which offer the following possibilities:

- For fast drying, it is recommended that you set the hairdryer to a higher heat setting for the first few minutes. To do so, set the heat setting switch to position ..... Then switch down to the lower setting and style your hair as desired.

• Use the cold air function to firm up curls or waves by pushing the Cool air button 6 for a burst of cool air.
  The air blown out of the hairdryer will be lukewarm, and so it is not entirely cold.
• You can push the Cool air button at the low or high fan heater setting.
• Hold the Cool air button down during use.
• Before you comb out your hair, let it cool off first so that your hair style is able to set.

Switch off the hairdryer and remove the styling nozzle/diffuser

WARNING!

Risk of burns!

The styling nozzle/diffuser become very hot during use and may cause burns.

- Leave the hairdryer and styling nozzle/diffuser to cool down after use.

1. Set the fan speed switch 4 to 0.
2. Pull the plug out of the outlet.
3. Let the hairdryer cool down.
4. Remove the styling nozzle 3 or the diffuser 7.

Overheat protection

With restricted air intake, the set heating level will be switched off by the installed overheating protection. The airflow is not switched off, in order to avoid trapped heat in the hairdryer.

Proceed as follows:

1. Set the fan speed switch 4 to the 0 position.
2. Pull the plug out of the outlet.
3. Let the hairdryer cool down completely.
4. Clean the air filter 1 (see chapter "Cleaning").

You can then operate the hairdryer again.

User maintenance instruction

• The appliance has no user serviceable parts, please ask an authorized service representative for repairing.
• All repair or servicing activities, which are not described in these instructions, may exclusively be performed by the manufacturer or its customer service or a similarly qualified person. Your hairdryer is virtually maintenance free.

Storing the hairdryer

1. Let the hairdryer cool down completely before you store it.
2. The hairdryer has a hanging loop 2 that you can use to hang it up.

Cleaning

WARNING!

Liquid that has penetrated the hairdryer may result in an electric shock.

• Do not immerse the hairdryer, the cord or plug in water or other liquids.
• Pull the plug out of the outlet before cleaning the hairdryer.

The styling nozzle/diffuser become very hot during use and may cause burns.

- Leave the hairdryer and styling nozzle/diffuser to cool down completely before cleaning.

NOTE!

Risk of damage!

Improper handling of the hairdryer may result in damage to the hairdryer.

- Do not in any case use hard, scouring or abrasive cleaners or similar to clean the hairdryer. These could scratch the surface.

1. Turn the air filter 1 a little anti-clockwise and then pull the air filter off the hairdryer.
2. Use a small brush to clean dust and remove hair out of the air filter. Fit it back on and then turn it clockwise to lock it (see fig. B).
3. Remove the styling nozzle 3 or the diffuser 7.
4. Clean the housing, styling nozzle and diffuser with a soft cloth, which is moistened, if necessary. Make sure that no water penetrates the inside of the hairdryer.

Troubleshooting
