How do I turn on the Steren MED-160 breathalyzer?

Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds until the display lights up. Wait for the device to warm up (about 10 seconds) before blowing.

How do I use the breathalyzer correctly?

Insert a clean mouthpiece into the device, blow steadily for about 5 seconds until you hear a beep, then remove the mouthpiece and read the result on the display.

What does the result mean?

The display shows your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) in mg/L. A value below 0.05 mg/L is generally considered sober, but local laws vary.

How should I clean and maintain the device?

After each use, discard the used mouthpiece. Wipe the exterior with a dry cloth. Clean the sensor area gently with a cotton swab if needed. Do not use liquids.

How do I know when to calibrate the breathalyzer?

Calibration is recommended every 12 months or after 300 tests. The device may show an error if calibration is overdue. Contact Steren support for service.

Can I use the breathalyzer for legal purposes?

No. The Steren MED-160 is intended for personal use only and is not certified for legal or medical applications. Results should be treated as estimates.

What type of batteries does it take?

It uses 2 AAA alkaline batteries (not included). Replace them when the low battery indicator appears.

Why does the device show an error message?

Common causes: low battery, need for calibration, or blocked airflow. Check batteries, ensure mouthpiece is inserted correctly, and try again.

How many mouthpieces are included?

The package includes 5 disposable mouthpieces. Additional mouthpieces can be purchased separately.

What should I do if I get inconsistent readings?

Ensure you wait at least 15 minutes after drinking alcohol or using mouthwash before testing. Also, avoid eating or smoking just before the test.

Recommendations

- When after drinking, it is recommended to last after 20 minutes, it is because 20 minutes is approximately for alcohol to be absorbed into blood from the digestive organs, and residual alcohol remaining in the mouth takes this long to dissipate.

- For accurate result, do not repeat next testing within 3 minutes after last time.

- Do not smoke and eat for 20 minutes prior testing.

• After using the nozzle wash with soap and water, never use chemicals.

- Do not blowing liquid into the breath pipe.

- Do not use any excitant substances near to tester, such as paint, insecticides, alcohol.

- Modify or tampering with the unit's internal component may cause a malfunction.

- The unit is designed to be used as an aid to promote reasonable driving. It should not be used in anticipation of the use operation of vehicles, machinery, or equipment. The unit makes no references whatsoever to blood alcohol content or other such measures of intoxication promulgated by government, medical or other agencies or bodies.

Highlights

The digital breathalyzer allows you to analyze your breath and determinate which quantity of alcohol you have in the blood (BAC), displaying it in percentage and an icon when you are in an inconvenient status (caution) or in dangerous to do some activities such as drive a car.

It works with two AAA batteries and the package includes additional mouthpieces, their luminous screen allows you an easy reading even by night.

IMPORTANT

This alcoholmeter never must be used in order to carry out tests validated by the authorities, because these can not be legally recognized. The alcoholmeter is a prevention instrument and their results must be considered only like a direction measurement.

REFERENCE

BAC: Blood Alcohol concentration.
0.05% BAC: Refers to there is 0.05g alcohol in each 100ml of blood.

Installing Battery

1. Slide open the battery compartment lid from the back of the unit.
2. Insert two "AAA" alkaline batteries with correct polarity as indicated.
3. Replace the battery compartment lid.

NOTE

The LCD flickering indicates low power of the batteries, please replace two "AAA" alkaline batteries.

How to use the alcohol tester

WARM UP

1. Press and hold the power button for 1 second the alcohol tester LCD will turn on with one beep sound.

2. The “warm up” symbol is displayed, and the 10 to 00 countdown is started that indicate the tester is in warm-up mode.

It always has a large number of gas & impurity absorbed on the surface of alcohol tester, when first time taking out the tester from the packaging, or after long time for cleaning and warm up the sensor, you should repress the power button and retry several times if possible.

TEST

1. The "BLOW" symbol is displayed when warm-up is succeed, and the 10 to 00 countdown is started that indicate the tester is in testing mode.
2. Blow into the breath inhaler for 3-5 seconds with normal power after a deep inhalation.
3. Read the test result from the alcohol tester LCD.

1. The "CAUTION" symbol is displayed if the alcohol concentration is in the level:
2. 0.02% BAC (or 0.2g/l) to 0.05% BAC (or 0.5g/l)
3. 0.05% BAC (or 0.5g/l) to 0.08% BAC (or 0.8g/l)

This indicate you have an inconvenient status to do some activities such as drive a car.

1. The "Danger" symbol is displayed with beep audible alert if the alcohol concentration is in the level:

This indicate you have an unable status to do some activities such as drive a car.

1. If no blow into the breath inhaler at the test mode, the LCD will display "0.00% BAC & 0.0g/l" value.

NOTE

To obtain more accurate result, manufacturer recommended you to check repeatedly 2 or 3 times.

▶ AUTO POWER OFF

After the result be display for about 10 seconds, the "OFF" symbol will appear for 2-3 seconds and the alcohol tester be turned off.

REPLACE MOUTHPIECE

1. Contrarotate once, the mouthpiece will be loosened.
2. Replace the new mouthpiece on the right place, clockwise rotation, it will be ok.

Different countries have different drinking driving and drunken driving standards, generally, if the driver's blood alcohol concentration is greater than or equal to 0.02g / 100ml , but less than 0.05mg / 100ml , it shall be drinking driving and if the alcohol content is greater than or equal to 0.05g / 100ml , it shall be drunk driving. (In some countries, greater than or equal to 0.08g / 100ml is drunk driving).

Under normal circumstances, if you take the alcohol test immediately after drinking wine, the indicating values may be very high. However, if you take the test 20 or 30 minutes after drinking, the value may decline, but this value is more accurate, it is because that the alcohol has passed the digestion and absorption system into the bloodstream by that time. While the critical value of the traffic police officer's punishment for drink driving is 0.02g , however, this does not mean that driving under less than 0.02g is safe. Whether if you have a big o small alcohol capacity, as long as you drink alcohols, no matter how much it is, you'd better not to drive, which is not only responsible for others, but also for yourselves.

This Steren product is warranted under normal usage against defects in workmanship and materials to the original purchaser for one year from the date of purchase.

CONDITIONS

1.- This warranty card with all the required information, invoice, product box or package, and product, must be presented when warranty service is required.
2.- If the product stills on the warranty time, the company will repair it free of charge.
3.- The repairing time will not exceed 30 natural days, from the day the claim was received.

THIS WARRANTY IS VOID IN THE NEXT CASES:
