Frequently Asked Questions - MG10MK.II MARSHALL

How do I switch between the Clean and Overdrive channels?
Use the Overdrive Gain knob to engage the overdrive channel. Turn it counterclockwise for clean, clockwise for overdrive. The channel is not footswitchable; it's controlled by the gain knob.
Can I use headphones with this amp?
Yes, plug your headphones into the Headphone Output jack. This mutes the internal speaker for silent practice.
How do I connect an external audio source like a phone or MP3 player?
Use the Aux Input (3.5mm jack) on the front panel. Connect your device with a standard audio cable. The volume is controlled by your device and the amp's volume knob.
What type of power cable does the MG10MK.II use?
It uses a standard IEC C7 (figure-8) power cord. Ensure voltage matches your region (120V or 230V). The amp is auto-switching? No, it has a voltage selector; check the manual for setting.
How do I clean the amplifier?
Unplug the amp and wipe the exterior with a dry soft cloth. Do not use water, solvents, or abrasive cleaners. Keep vents dust-free.
What is the wattage and is it loud enough for a band?
The MG10MK.II has 10 watts RMS. It's suitable for home practice and small rehearsals, but may not be loud enough to compete with a live drummer. For band use, consider a higher-wattage model.
Can I use pedals with this amp?
Yes, you can connect standard guitar pedals between your guitar and the Input jack. The amp's clean channel works well with pedals. Overdrive pedals can also be used.
Does the amp have a built-in tuner?
No, the MG10MK.II does not include a built-in tuner. You will need an external tuner or a tuning app.
How do I know if the amp is on?
There is a red power indicator light on the front panel. When lit, the amp is on. Always turn the volume down before powering on/off.
The amp has no sound. What should I check?
First, ensure the power cord is connected and the power switch is on. Check that the volume and gain are turned up. Verify your guitar cable is plugged in securely. If using headphones, the speaker is muted.

From Jim Marshall

I would like to thank you personally for selecting one of our Marshall MG Serles guitar combos. Your new amplifier has been designed by the same team of British designers who created all of the great Marshall amps. It is built to the customary exacting Marshall standards and will give you an incredible spectrum of sounds to complement a wide range of playing styles, as well as being designed to stand the test of time.

The Marshall name has adorned many of Britain's finest amps, from the early 1960's through to the present day. Some of the original vintage amps have become highly sought after by both amp collectors and working guitarists alike.

This new line of transistor guitar and bass guitar combos have been released to unanimous acclaim. Your combo is part of a new breed of Marshall amplifier, which has benefited from years of experience and continual investment in research and development.

Not only is the sound quality of your Marshall MG Series amp of a standard that you would only expect to come from our own design team, you will also find that the front panel is exceptionally easy to understand and intuitive to use.

I would like to wish you every success with your new Marshall MG Series amplifier, which I am sure you will find a pleasure to play for years to come.

Yours Sincerely,

Jain Michael

  1. Input Jack

Plug your guitar in here.

  1. Boost Switch

Switches the combo from clean to distortion. Switch in gives distortion - Switch out gives clean.

  1. Gain

This controls the amount of distortion in your guitar sound. With the Boost Switch out you will notice your sound crunching up at higher gain settings, ideal for vintage blues or classic rock. For maximum distortion, push the Boost Switch in and turn the Gain Control full up.

  1. Contour

The Contour control shifts the mid-range frequencies in your guitar tone. By turning the Contour control fully anti-clockwise you will scoop most of the middle frequencies out of your sound,

ideal for thrash tones if combined with high gain settings. By turning the control fully clockwise you can get some great fusion type tones. Experiment with this control to find your favourite settings.

  1. Volume

Controls the overall volume of the amp.

  1. Headphone Jack

Plug your headphones in here. This will disconnect the internal speaker.
