How do I descale my Bosch TKA 6074 coffee maker?

We recommend descaling every 100 brewing cycles or when the descaling indicator lights up. Use a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:3) or a commercial descaling solution. Fill the water tank, start a brewing cycle without coffee, then repeat with clean water.

What type of filter should I use?

Use size #4 paper filters or the included permanent filter. Ensure the filter is properly placed to avoid coffee grounds in the carafe.

Why is my coffee not hot enough?

Make sure the carafe is properly seated on the keep-warm plate. If the plate is dirty, clean it. Also, pre-warm the carafe with hot water before brewing.

Can I use ground coffee directly without a paper filter?

Yes, if you use the permanent filter included. However, for best taste and easy cleaning, we recommend using paper filters.

How do I clean the coffee maker?

Wash removable parts (carafe, filter basket, water tank) with warm soapy water. Wipe the base with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the base in water.

What does the aroma selector do?

The aroma selector adjusts the brewing time to control coffee strength. A longer brewing cycle extracts more flavor for a stronger coffee.

How long does the keep-warm function last?

The keep-warm plate stays on for about 40 minutes, then the machine automatically shuts off for safety.

Why is the machine leaking water?

Check that the water tank is properly inserted and the lid is closed. Also ensure the anti-drip valve is not blocked. If leaking continues, contact Bosch service.

Can I use the coffee maker without the anti-drip feature?

The anti-drip system prevents dripping when you remove the carafe during brewing. It is always active; do not tamper with it.

Where can I find spare parts?

Spare parts such as carafes and filter baskets are available from Bosch authorized dealers or online. Use genuine parts for optimal performance.

Fillthetankwithwateronly.Neveraddmilk or readydrinkssuchasteaorcoffee(thetaste willbealteredbythesubsequentbrewing process).

Use medium ground coffee (we recommend approx. 7 g per cup), adds slightly more coffee per cup for a few cups than for a larger number of cups. Brew at least three large cups, otherwise the coffee will not have there required temperature and strength.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Allpartswhichcomeintocontactwithcoffee shouldbecleanedafteruse.Residuewillaffect the taste.

Alldetachablepartsaredishwasher-proof. However,doNOTplacethemoverthe dishwasherheaterorjamtheminthe dishwasher(deformationmayoccur).Wipe the housingexteriorwithadampclothonly. DoNOTuseanyscouringagents.

Descaling

Descaletheapplianceregularly,especiallyif –thebrewingcycletakeslongerthanusual, –excessivesteamisproduced, –theapplianceisnoisierthanusual. Measuredcalingagentaccordingto manufacturer'sspecificationsandpourinto the tank.Leavethesolutiontostandfor5min., thenswitchon.Switchoff after1 min.and leaveto standfor10min.Repeat atleast3x (or more frequentlydependingoncalcification). Allow theresidualsolutiontorunthrough. Flushtheappliancetwicewith9cupsofclean water.Ifmodelsfeaturecupselection,setthe switchto3–6cupsduringdescaling. Thoroughlyrinsealldetachableparts.

Descalingrecommendation

Ifthewaterhardnessisnormalandthe applianceisuseddaily,descaleevery6weeks. Ifthedescalingagentswhichyouuseare basedonvinegarorcitricacid,descaleevery 3 weeks.
