Frequently Asked Questions - ID5200 MOULINEX

What type of water should I use in my Moulinex ID5200 iron?
It is recommended to use distilled or demineralized water to prevent scale buildup. Tap water can be used if it is not too hard, but regular descaling is advised.
How do I clean the soleplate of the iron?
Allow the iron to cool completely. Wipe the soleplate with a soft damp cloth. For stubborn residue, use a mild non-abrasive cleaner. Do not use scouring pads.
Why does my iron leak water?
Water leakage is often due to overfilling or using the iron at too low a temperature. Ensure the water tank is not filled above the max line and select the appropriate heat setting for steam.
How does the anti-drip system work?
The anti-drip system prevents water from dripping when the iron is not hot enough. It automatically stops water flow until the correct temperature is reached.
What is the self-clean function and how do I use it?
The self-clean function flushes out mineral deposits. Fill the tank, set the iron to the highest setting, unplug it, then hold it horizontally over a sink and press the self-clean button. Steam and debris will expel.
How does the auto shut-off work?
If the iron is left horizontal and motionless for 30 seconds or vertical and motionless for 8 minutes, it automatically shuts off to prevent accidents.
Can I use the iron without water?
Yes, you can dry iron fabrics without water. Simply set the temperature according to the fabric and do not press the steam button.
What should I do if the iron is not producing steam?
Check that the water tank is filled, the temperature is set to a steam-compatible zone (usually high), and the steam control is not set to '0'. Also ensure the anti-drip is not active.
How do I descale my Moulinex ID5200 iron?
Use the self-clean function regularly. For heavy scale, fill the tank with a mixture of half water and half white vinegar, heat the iron, let it sit for 30 minutes, then rinse with clean water.
Is the Moulinex ID5200 suitable for all fabric types?
Yes, the iron has a temperature control dial with settings for synthetic, silk, wool, cotton, and linen. Always check garment labels for the best temperature.

USE

ADJUST THE TEMPERATURE

  • Select the temperature (see table below) setting the thermostat facing the indicator.
  • The thermostat light comes on. It will go out when the soleplate is hot enough.
FabricPosition of thermostat cursor
Linen MAX
Cotton •••
Wool ••
Silk Synthetic (Polyester, Acetate, Acrylic, Nylon)
  • Your iron heats up quickly: so begin by ironing fabrics that are ironed at low temperatures first, then go on to those requiring a higher temperature.
  • When ironing fabrics with mixed fibres, set the ironing temperature for the most delicate fibre. For delicate fabrics we recommend testing the fabric first on an unconspicious place eg (inside the hem).

It is normal for the indicator light to switch on and off during ironing. If you turn down the thermostat, wait until the thermostat light comes back on before beginning to iron again.
