How to cook rice in the Khind RCJ1008?

Measure rice using the included cup, rinse, and place in the inner pot. Add water up to the corresponding water level mark. Close the lid, plug in, and press the cook switch down. The light will turn on. When rice is done, the switch will pop up and the keep warm function activates.

Why does my rice cooker not turn on?

Ensure the power cord is firmly plugged into a working outlet. Check if the outlet is operational. If the cooker still doesn't power on, the internal thermal fuse may have blown; contact Khind service center for repair.

Can I cook other grains in the RCJ1008?

Yes, you can cook quinoa, oatmeal, or other grains. Adjust water ratios according to the grain type. Do not exceed the maximum capacity marked inside the pot.

How to clean the rice cooker?

Unplug and let cool. The inner pot is non-stick and can be washed with mild soap and sponge; it is also dishwasher safe. Wipe the outer body and lid with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the base in water.

The rice is undercooked or burnt. What to do?

For undercooked rice, add a few tablespoons of water and press the cook switch again. For burnt rice, you may have added too little water; always use the water level lines. Check that the inner pot is properly seated on the heating plate.

How does the keep warm function work?

After cooking completes, the cooker automatically switches to keep warm mode. The indicator light changes from cook to warm. It maintains a safe serving temperature for up to 12 hours. To turn off, unplug the unit.

Is the inner pot replaceable?

Yes, replacement inner pots are available through Khind service centers or authorized dealers. Use only genuine parts to ensure proper fit and performance.

What is the maximum capacity for cooking?

The maximum capacity for uncooked rice is about 5 cups (1.0 liter). Do not fill water or rice above the highest water level mark to avoid overflow during cooking.

The cooker emits a burning smell. Is it normal?

A slight odor may occur during first use due to manufacturing residues. If the smell persists or is strong, unplug and check for food debris on the heating plate. If problem continues, contact Khind support.

Can I use the rice cooker without the lid?

No, the lid must be closed during cooking to maintain proper pressure and heat. Operating without the lid can cause uneven cooking and safety hazards.

1. Carefully read all instructions before operating this appliance.
2. Do not use this appliance if the cord or plug is damaged, or if this unit is malfunctioned or damaged in any way.

1. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

2. The heating plate's surface is subject to residual heat after use. Do not touch the surface and any hot parts of the appliance during use or immediately after use. It will be very hot!

3. This appliance is intended for household use only. Commercial use voids warranty.

7. Beware of hot steam coming out of the appliance during operation when you open the lid. Keep hands and face away from the appliance to avoid steam.

8. Always place the rice cooker on flat and stable surface before cooking. Do not expose rice cooker to water, humid conditions or heat sources. Do not expose Inner Pot to direct flame.

9. While Inner Pot is not placed in the rice cooker, the control lever will not engage. Do not engage or press by force.

10. Do not use the appliance around the perimeter of an inflammable object.

11. Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to the local voltage before you connect to the appliance.

Cleaning & Maintenance

1. Always switch off the appliance, unplug from the switch and let the appliance is cool down under below situation:
   a) When the appliance is not in use
   b) Before cleaning
   c) Before putting on or taking off inner pot or steam tray.
2. Use a damp cloth to clean the outer body. Remove the Inner Pot, clean with dishwashing detergent or soft cleaning agent. Do not use abrasive material or corrosive chemical detergent for the cleaning of the appliance.
3. Do not use wire brush or hard brush to clean, it may scratch and cause damage to the Inner Pot surface.
4. Dry the rice cooker by using a soft cloth.
5. Grains of rice and other foreign objects may stick onto the heating plate of the cooker. These stains must be cleaned using a soft damp cloth. By doing so, the clean and dry contact area between the heating plate and the bottom of the Inner Pot will improve the cooking performance.
6. Do not immerse the appliance into water other liquids except the inner pot.

How to Use

1. Measure and wash the required amount of rice in separate container with measuring cup provided.
2. Rinse the rice several times until the water in the bowl runs clear.

Note: Do not rinse the rice in inner pot, if the pot is used for washing the rice, the coating may be damaged or caused deform in bottom.

1. Put washed rice into inner pot with the corresponding amount of fresh water as indicated in the table below:

*Reminder:

i) Please do not cook less than 2 cups of rice.
ii) Please pre-soak your brown rice for 30 minutes before cooking & do not cook more than 3 cups of brown rice.

1. Wipe the water outside of inner pot, place the pot into the rice cooker to align inner pot with heating element correctly, turn inner pot gently to right and left.

Important note: If inner pot is not placed properly, cooking will not begin.

1. Lock cover lid until it clicks. If lid not locked properly, cooking will be adversely affected.
2. Connect power cord to the socket located by the side of the rice cooker and the AC power socket. The Keep Warm indicator will light up.
3. Press One Touch Switch button to commence cooking operation. The Cooking indicator will light up.
4. To reheat rice and avoid having crust or minimize rice sticking to the pot, may follow below instruction:

i) Stir to loosen rice by spatula given.
ii) Sprinkle a bit of water on the rice.
iii) Engage Cook Lever
iv) Wait a few minutes after Cook Lever trips before consuming reheated rice.

9. Tips:

i) It is not advisable to keep warm rice for more than 6 hours. The rice will lose its moisture and turn yellowish.
ii) For tastier cooked rice, use filtered or mineral water to wash and cook rice.

How to Use Steam Tray

i) Put some water into Inner Pot
ii) Put the steam tray with food onto the Inner Pot.
iii) The steaming period will differ based on the quantity and type of food.
iv) Steaming time can be extended by adding more water.
